  • A study on establishment of normal range of cardiothoracic ratio calculated from photofluorography film of chest by age and sex in a total of the 6,598 insureds was undertaken. The results were as follows: 1. In male group, the frequency distribution of cardiothoracic ratio was skewed weakly to the right in second decade, symmetrical in third and fourth decade, and was skewed weakly to the left in fifth and sixth decade; in female group, it was skewed weakly to the left in second, third and fourth decade, and was skewed weakly to the right in fifth and sixth decade. 2. On assumption that normal range of cardiothoracic ratio should comprise about 85% of all cardiothoracic ratios in each age group of both sexes, the sites of deviation from mean value of cardiothoracic ratio corresponding to maximum and minimum cardiothoracic ratio in the range of about 85% above mentioned were detected by statistical method on the frequency distribution of log tranformed cardiothoracic ratio, and $M{\pm}1.3$ sindicating normal range of cardiothoracic ratio was determined. In male group, normal range of cardiothoracic ratio determined by statistical method is 35-45%, 40-50%, 40-50%, 40-50% and 40-50% succesively in order from second to sixth decade; in female group, 40-50%, 40-50%, 40-50%, 45-55% and 45-55%.

  • This paper makes a detailed comparison between two metrics designed for measuring customer's satisfaction in the retail industry. The first metric, which is called the customer service level, has not been widely used due to the intrinsic requirement on the parameter assumption(s) of the demand distribution. Unlike the customer service level metric the in stock ratio metric does not require any requirements on the demand distribution. And the in stock ratio metric is also very easy to understand the meaning. To develop the detailed planning activities for business with the in stock ratio metric on hand one should collect some information as following : 1) POS (Point of sales) data, 2) Inventory Data 3) Inventory Trend.

  • We investigate the distribution of likelihood ratio test(LRT) of null hypothesis a sample is from single gamma with unknown shape and scale against the alternative hypothesis a sample is from a mixture of two gammas, each with unknown scale and unknown (but equal) scale. To obtain stable maximum likelihood estimates(MLE) of a mixture of two gamma distributions, the EM(Dempster, Laird, and Robin(1977))and Modified Newton(Jensen and Johansen(1991)) algorithms were implemented. Based on EM, we made a simple structure likelihood equation for each parameter and could obtain stable solution by Modified Newton Algorithms. Simulation study was conducted to investigate the distribution of LRT for sample size n = 25, 50, 75, 100, 50, 200, 300, 400, 500 with 2500 replications. To determine the small sample distribution of LRT, I considered the model of a gamma distribution with shape parameter equal to 1 + f(n) and scale parameter equal to 2. The simulation results indicate that the null distribution is essentially invariant to the value of the shape parameter. Modeling of the null distribution indicates that it is well approximated by a gamma distribution with shape parameter equal to the quantity $0.927+1.18/\sqrt{n}$ and scale parameter equal to 2.16.

  • In order to investigate the effect of particle size and distribution of silica sand on the characteristics of investment, W/P ratio, setting time, temperature change during setting, setting expansion, thermal expansion and compressive strength of the investments were measured. In this experiment, magnesia clinker and mono ammonium phosphate were used as binder, and particle size and distribution of silica sand were classified for convinence into 10 categories. The main results obtained from this investigation were summerized as follows. 1. W/P ratio decreased with increase of particle size and evenness in distribution of sand grain. 2. Setting time decreased with increase of evenness in distribution of sand grain, and temperature during setting increased with evenness in distribution of sand grain. 3. Setting expansion decreased with increase of particle size, while it increased with evenness in distribution of sand grain. 4. Thermal expansion decreased with increase of particle size. 5. Compressive strength increased with increase of particle size and evenness in distribution of sand grain. From above results, G.F.N. 250 sand which contains 30% of 50-100 mesh could be recommended for investment casting.

  • Two-piece double exponential distribution (TPDE) with one piece $(X \leq 0)$ having the scale parameter $\theta_1$ while the other piece (X>0) having $\theta_2$ is considered here. Distribution of the sum of n-independent variables from such a distribution is obtained. Special cases of this distribution are also treated. Next, distribution of the ratio of two independent (TPDE) variables is derived. As an extension, distribution of $x_1/x_2x_3$ is expressed terms of hypergeometric functions. A small table gives the power of the test regarding double exponential against (TPDE).

  • Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co., Ltd. has been recently developing the gas turbine engine using the biogas as fuel. This paper describes the non-reacting and reacting flow analysis of the combustor which is one of the main components in gas turbine engine. Through CFD analysis, investigation has been performed to evaluate the primary factors for aerodynamic design and to predict combustor behaviors during operation with various fuel distribution ratios. The calculation results are compared with rig test data, which reveals that CFD predictions such as pressure loss, air distribution ratio, and recirculation flow are quite reliable. The trend of NO formation was similar with the test, except the low fuel distribution ratio.

  • Purpose: To know the existence of tax services, it is seen as a redistribution of income to ensure the implementation of national development and social welfare carried out by the state to the community and determine the effect of the quality of tax services, tax audits and tax collection against either simultaneously or partially against the tax ratio in the area of the Primary Tax Service Office of West Makassar. Research Design Data and Methodology: The tax revenue rate is too low based on the Revenue Statistics in Asian and Pacific report, released by the OECD at the end of July 2017. Tax revenue growth is also difficult to increase because of typical inelastic tax revenues. Consequently, tax growth cannot exceed GDP growth. The government boosted the tax ratio by minimizing tax payment irregularities and optimizing tax data utilization as well as distribution income for national social welfare. Transforming all sectors in the real economy so that it is affordable to tax, diversification of taxation is directed towards new sources of economic growth. The data analysis method used is multiple linear regression. Results: The results showed that the quality of tax services and tax audits were dominant in determining tax ratios, whereas Tax collection offers a significant but lower value. Conclusion: The existence of tax services, it is seen as a redistribution of income to ensure the implementation of national development and social welfare carried out by the state to the community.Quality and service in taxation services to create and maintain trust and cooperation relationships between tax officials and taxpayers.

  • Stone columns, one of the soft ground improvement techniques, are being used for not only accelerating consolidation but also increasing bearing capacity of soft grounds. In this study, in order to observe the stress distribution characteristics which are one of the important factors to estimate the settlement reduction of the soft ground, lab-scale experiments were performed in stone column reinforced clay ground. The stress distribution ratio of stone column decreased with the lapse of time after surcharge loading but increased as the stiffness of clay deposit increases. It shows that the modified Baumann and Bauer's solution, which is able to easily predict the stress distribution ratio of stone column reinforced soft ground, exhibits reasonable agreement with the measured data.

  • In this study, the ultimate strength of 335 simply supported reinforced concrete beams with shear span-to-effective depth ratio of less than 3 was evaluated by the ACI 318-14's strut-tie model approach implemented with the indeterminate strut-tie models and load distribution ratios of the companion paper. The ultimate strength of the beams was also estimated by using the experimental shear strength models, the theoretical shear strength models, and the current strut-tie model design codes. The validity of the proposed strut-tie models and load distribution ratios was examined by comparing the strength analysis results classified according to the prime design variables of the shear span-to-effective depth ratio, flexural reinforcement ratio, and compressive strength of concrete.

  • In this study, a virtual specimen with a linear continuous gradient of void ratio (FGM: Functional Graded Material) is constructed using low-order probability functions of two real cement paste specimens. Two real specimens with difference void ratios are taken from X-ray CT to construct the virtual specimen. A virtual specimen with a gradient void distribution, whose average void ratio is between void ratios of two homogeneous real specimens, is constructed using a stochastic optimization approach. The void ratio distribution is assumed to be linear, and continuously varies in the vertical direction. In this study, a gradient term of void ratio is incorporated into the objective function as well as low-order probability functions from the previous research. To confirm the effect of gradient void distribution on the material response, air permeability is evaluated using finite element analysis. The analysis results are compared with experimental results, and confirm the effect of gradient void distribution on permeability.
