A Study on Object-Oriented Programming Education for Improving Logical Thinking Ability of Elementary School Students (초등학생의 논리적 사고력 향상을 위한 객체지향 프로그래밍 교육 연구)

  • Computer programming education helps students understand abstract concepts better and solve given problems independently. Many previous studies on programming education have focused on procedural programming languages such as BASIC and C, but studies on objected-oriented program ming language like JAVA is rare. This paper examines how an architectural neural, objected-oriented JAVA programming study system can improve logical thinking ability and encourage self-led study and stimulate interests in computers among elementary school students. The system has been developed and is suitable for distributed Internet environment. The experiment results demonstrated that the objected-oriented programming education enhances logical thinking ability, exerts a positive impact on student achievement in math and science, and stimulate interests in computers.

  • EJB, providing specification for development and deployment of component based application, permits distributed development as central element of J2EE environment that manages automatically transaction management, persistence, concurrency control that are the most complicated work in enterprise environment. In this paper, we wish to resolve DAO's transaction logic complexity and performance reduction of system in the EJB based legacy system. Therefore, this paper describes the design and implementation of IDAO that applies Iterator pattern. IDAO gets effect that reduces complexity of transaction logic, system overload by database connection, and reduction of performance through container managed transaction.

  • Quality of a new system is closly related to the quality of components in reuse repository. Quality assessment is essential to construct a reuse library. Definition of quality and method of assessment are totally different in reuse environments. User interface, functionality, performance are main factor in non-reuse development environment. However, reuse environment needs more reusability, extensibility, generality, and maintainability in quality assessment. This paper describes a development of quality assessment tool for multimedia object reuse conponents. Tool gets reuse components described by C++ or IDL, and analyses style, structure, coupling, strength, complexity, understandability, etc. Ultimatly the tool generate quality satisfaction degree for reuse programmers. Quality assessment services are supported in distributed object architecture, CORBA.

  • Caffe is a neural net learning software which is widely used in academic researches. The GPU memory capacity is one of the most important aspects of designing neural net architectures. For example, many object detection systems require to use less than 12GB to fit a single GPU. In this paper, we extended Caffe to allow to use more than 12GB GPU memory. To verify the effectiveness of the extended software, we executed some training experiments to determine the learning efficiency of the object detection neural net software using a PC with three GPUs.

Sector Based Multiple Camera Collaboration for Active Tracking Applications

  • This paper presents a scalable multiple camera collaboration strategy for active tracking applications in large areas. The proposed approach is based on distributed mechanism but emulates the master-slave mechanism. The master and slave cameras are not designated but adaptively determined depending on the object dynamic and density distribution. Moreover, the number of cameras emulating the master is not fixed. The collaboration among the cameras utilizes global and local sectors in which the visual correspondences among different cameras are determined. The proposed method combines the local information to construct the global information for emulating the master-slave operations. Based on the global information, the load balancing of active tracking operations is performed to maximize active tracking coverage of the highly dynamic objects. The dynamics of all objects visible in the local camera views are estimated for effective coverage scheduling of the cameras. The active tracking synchronization timing information is chosen to maximize the overall monitoring time for general surveillance operations while minimizing the active tracking miss. The real-time simulation result demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Deep Learning based Distress Awareness System for Small Boat (딥러닝 기반 소형선박 승선자 조난 인지 시스템)

  • According to statistics conducted by the Korea Coast Guard, the number of accidents on small boats under 5 tons is increasing every year. This is because only a small number of people are on board. The previously developed maritime distress and safety systems are not well distributed because passengers must be equipped with additional remote equipment. The purpose of this study is to develop a distress awareness system that recognizes man over-board situations in real time. This study aims to present the part of the passenger tracking system among the small ship's distress awareness situational system that can generate passenger's location information in real time using deep learning based object detection and tracking technologies. The system consisted of the following steps. 1) the passenger location information is generated in the form of Bounding box using its detection model (YOLOv3). 2) Based on the Bounding box data, Deep SORT predicts the Bounding box's position in the next frame of the image with Kalman filter. 3) When the actual Bounding Box is created within the range predicted by Kalman-filter, Deep SORT repeats the process of recognizing it as the same object. 4) If the Bounding box deviates the ship's area or an error occurs in the number of tracking occupant, the system is decided the distress situation and issues an alert. This study is expected to complement the problems of existing technologies and ensure the safety of individuals aboard small boats.

  • 현대는 실제와 같은 환경을 재현할 수 있도록 제작된 시뮬레이터를 사용하여 실제 훈련을 대체하고 있다. 그러나 많은 사용자들은 이미 개발된 이종의 시뮬레이터들을 하나로 묶어 연동할 필요성을 느끼게 되었고, 이에 따라 다양한 형태의 상호작용이 수반되는 시뮬레이션에 대한 요구를 만족하는 대규모 분산가상환경(large-scaled distributed virtual environment)을 개발하려는 움직임이 크게 늘게 되었다. 이러한 요구를 바탕으로 등장한 것들 중 하나가 HLA이다. High Level Architecture (HLA)는 미국방성에서 모델과 시뮬레이션에 공통의 구조와 인터페이스를 제공하기 위해 개발된 통합 구조이다. HLA는 분산 컴퓨팅 환경에서 각각의 시뮬레이터들이 정보를 교환 할 수 있게 해줌으로써 하나의 통합 시뮬레이션 시스템을 구축하게 해준다. HLA는 크게 Object Model Template (OMT)와 Run-Time Infrastructure (RTI)로 구성되어 있으며, 이를 통하여 공통된 구조와 상호 작용 환경을 제공한다. 각각의 시뮬레이터들은 RTI를 통하여 Federation에 참여하고 선별적으로 원하는 정보를 주고받으며 하나의 통합 시뮬레이션을 이루게 된다. 본 논문에서는 분산 컴퓨팅 환경에서 이기종의 3차원 영상 시뮬레이터들에 HLA 인터페이스를 삽입하고 3차원 영상 시뮬레이션에 적합하게 개발된 공통 구조인 FOM 제공하여 하나의 통합 가상훈련 시스템을 구축하였다. 이 시스템은 현재 KA-32 헬기 시뮬레이터 영상 프로그램 제작에 적용되어있다.

  • A concurrent computation model Doorae and its description language DL are developed to model problems of parallel and distributed systems. Doorae model has simple and uniform concepts of object and message passing for problem modeling and computation. A method for detecting parallelism implicitly. with no exact description of parallelism in program. is proposed. Furthermore, the method assures the maximum parallelism in dynamic environment by creating concurrent objects. Also a concept of Waiting Variable to insure maximum computation efficiency of objects is proposed.

  • This paper proposes a searching system with a mobile agent which retrieve data from the distributed hosts. The proposed system dispatched the movable objects, so called AGLET, to the distributed hosts in order to perform a task given by a client or a server. The network of the existing system must not be disturbed during a task is performing. However our system has the strong point that a task can be performed even if the network is disconnected on the way. When the network is disconnected, the system can get the results later after the network system is connected again. Designing the system has been done by using UML(Unified Modeling Language) which is a standardized object-oriented modeling language. AGLET, a pure JAVA product of IBM, is used for the mobile agent.

  • In current role-based systems, security officers handle assignments of users to roles. This may increase management efforts in a distributed environment because of the continuous involvement from security officers. The role-based delegation provides a means for implementing RBAC in a distributed environment. The basic idea of a role-based delegation is that users themselves may delegate role authorities to other users to carry out some functions on behalf of the former. This paper presents a user-level delegation model, which is based on Extended Role-Based Access Control(ERBAC). ERBAC provides finer grained access control on the base of subject and object level than RBAC model.
