  • This paper proposes multi-filtering method on the double firewall to prevent DDoS attack. In the first firewall, R-PA filtering algorithm and rigid hop counter filtering method are applied by analyzing packet paths. In the second firewall, packets are examined to be distinguished abnormal from normal packets. Security policy system monitors each user sessions and if the traffic is over the threshold value, the system blocks that session for an assigned time.

  • Two pelagic species Siriella izuensis Murano and Fukuoka, 2008 and Siriella japonica Ii, 1964, are reported for the first time from the Korean waters, together with descriptions and illustrations. S. izuensis can be distinguished from its closest relative, Siriella japonica, by the normal inner flagellum of the antennule of males, as opposed to the swollen proximal part in S. japonica, and by the slightly more distinct tendency of alternate arrangement of spines on the distal third lateral margin of the telson than in S. japonica. S. izuensis and S. japonica differ distinctly from other related species by a combination of the triangular rostral plate, the moderate size of the eyes, the form and arrangement of the lateral spines of the telson, and six or seven graded spines on the distal outer margin of the uropodal exopod. A taxonomical key is given for the genus Siriella from the Korea waters.

  • This paper describes the analysis of vibration signals of distorted mold transformer. For experiment, the acceleration sensors were adhered on the surface of winding and on the core. The vibration signals measured as variation of control variables were analyzed using data acquisition system. It was shown that the vibration signals of distorted mold transformer were distinguished from those of normal mold transformer.

  • Effects of various elictitors were investigated to enhance the production of berberine in plant cell suspension cultures of Thalicrtrum rugosum. Treatments of yeast elicitor, 15 different types of abiotic elicitors, 16 kinds of fungal elicitors from three species of fungi were performed. Cell growth and berberine production were examined and compared for both normal and elicitor treated cultures. No distinguished increases in berberine yield by the addition of elicitors could be attained.

  • In this paper, we propose a fault diagnosis scheme tor induction motor by adopting a hierarchical classifier consisting of k-Nearest Neighbors(k-NN) and Support Vector Machine(SVM). First, some motor conditions are classified by a simple k-NN classifier in advance. And then, more complicated classes are distinguished by SVM. To obtain the normal and fault data, we established an experimental unit with induction motor system and data acquisition module. Feature extraction is performed by Principal Component Analysis(PCA). To show its effectiveness, the proposed fault diagnostic system has been intensively tested with various data acquired under the different electrical and mechanical faults with varying load.

  • Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT) is the most common hereditary motor and sensory peripheral neuropathy. CMT is usually classified into two categories based on pathology: demyelinating CMT type 1 (CMT1) and axonal CMT type 2 (CMT2) neuropathy. CMT1 can be distinguished by assessing the median motor nerve conduction velocity as greater than 38 m/s. The main clinical features of axonal CMT2 neuropathy are distal muscle weakness and loss of sensory and areflexia. In addition, they showed unusual clinical features, including delayed development, hearing loss, pyramidal signs, vocal cord paralysis, optic atrophy, and abnormal pupillary reactions. Recently, customized treatments for genetic diseases have been developed, and pregnancy diagnosis can enable the birth of a normal child when the causative gene mutation is found in CMT2. Therefore, accurate diagnosis based on genotype/phenotypic correlations is becoming more important. In this review, we describe the latest findings on the phenotypic characteristics of axonal CMT2 neuropathy. We hope that this review will be useful for clinicians in regard to the diagnosis and treatment of CMT.

  • Let M be a semi-invariant submanifold with almost contact metric structure (𝜙, 𝜉, 𝜂, g) of codimension 3 in a complex space form Mn+1(c), c≠ 0. We denote by S and R𝜉 be the Ricci tensor of M and the structure Jacobi operator in the direction of the structure vector 𝜉, respectively. Suppose that the third fundamental form t satisfies dt(X, Y) = 2𝜃g(𝜙X, Y) for a certain scalar 𝜃(≠ 2c) and any vector fields X and Y on M. In this paper, we prove that M satisfies R𝜉S = SR𝜉 and at the same time R𝜉𝜙 = 𝜙R𝜉, then M is a Hopf hypersurface of type (A) provided that the scalar curvature s of M holds s - 2(n - 1)c ≤ 0.

  • This study aimed to assess the impact of abnormal climate events on the production of Italian ryegrass (IRG), such as autumn low-temperature, severe winter cold and spring droughts in the central inland, southern inland and southern coastal regions. Seasonal climatic variables, including temperature, precipitation, wind speed, relative humidity, and sunshine duration, were used to set the abnormal climate events using principal component analysis, and the abnormal climate events were distinguished from normal using Euclidean-distance cluster analysis. Furthermore, to estimate the impact caused by abnormal climate events, the dry matter yield (DMY) of IRG between abnormal and normal climate events was compared using a t-test with 5% significance level. As a result, the impact to the DMY of IRG by abnormal climate events in the central inland of Korea was significantly large in order of severe winter cold, spring drought, and autumn low-temperature. In the southern inland regions, severe winter cold was also the most serious abnormal event. These results indicate that the severe cold is critical to IRG in inland regions. Meanwhile, in the southern coastal regions, where severe cold weather is rare, the spring drought was the most serious abnormal climate event. In particular, since 2005, the frequency of spring droughts has tended to increase. In consideration of the trend and frequency of spring drought events, it is likely that drought becomes a NEW NORMAL during spring in Korea. This study was carried out to assess the impact of seasonal abnormal climate events on the DMY of IRG, and it can be helpful to make a guideline for its vulnerability.

  • The musculoskeletal system is mainly composed of the bones, muscles, tendons, and ligaments, in addition to nerves and blood vessels. The greatest difficulty in an ultrasonographic freeze-frame created by the examiner is recognition of the targeted structures without indicators, since an elephant's trunk may not be easily distinguished from its leg. It is not difficult to find descriptive ultrasonographic terms used for educational purposes, which help in distinguishing features of these structures either in a normal or abnormal anatomic condition. However, the terms sometimes create confusion when describing common objects, for example, in Western countries, pears have a triangular shape, but in Asia they are round. Skilled experts in musculoskeletal ultrasound have tried to express certain distinguishing features of anatomic landmarks using terms taken from everyday objects which may be reminiscent of that particular feature. This pictorial review introduces known signature patterns of distinguishing features in musculoskeletal ultrasound in a normal or abnormal condition, and may stir the beginners' interest to play a treasure-hunt game among unfamiliar images within a boundless ocean.
