  • Objectives : Ryodoraku, which is a physiological function test using electric current, is closely related to skin sympathetic tone. Pulse analysis is known to reflect cardiovascular reactivity. Refer to the previous researches Ryodoraku and pulse analysis have value as tools for diagnosing respiratory diseases. In this study we examined the diagnostic values of Ryodoraku and pulse analysis for respiratory disease patients. Methods : For this study. we conducted Ryodoraku and pulse analysis on 114 people, including 83 respiratory disease outpatients and 31 volunteers who did not have any respiratory symptoms or disease history. The respiratory patients were divided into three subgroups according to their symptoms: rhinorrhea group, cough-sputum group and wheezing-dyspnea group. Then we compared the disease groups with the control group. Results : When all experimental groups were compared with the control group, mean Ryodoraku was significantly lower. Mean H2, mean H3 and mean H6 were significantly lower in the rhinorrhea group (P<0.05), all the test results of Ryodoraku were evidently lower in the cough-sputum group (P<0.01), and most results of Ryodoraku were evidently lower in the wheezing-dyspnea group except H1 (P<0.01). Compared with the control group on pulse analysis, mean YP+/YP- was significantly lower in the wheezing-dyspnea group (P<0.05). Conclusion : Ryodoraku and pulse analysis were found to have a high value as quantitative diagnosis tools reflecting individuals' weakness and firmness. Nevertheless, more research is needed to find the further values.

Effects of Seed-treatment Fungicides on Bakanae Disease of Rice

  • Bakanae disease, caused by Gibberella fujikuroi (anamorph Fusarium moniliforme J. Sheldon), a typical seed-borne disease of rice occurs from nursery to paddy fields. Consequently, chemical seed disinfectants is the most efficient control method. Several seed treatment methods with various fungicides were attempted to inhibit disease. Spray and 24 hrs immersion of seeds using prochloraz emulsion reduced disease infection and the control value were 99.3 and 100%, respectively. In contrast, dressing to wet seeds thiophanate-methyl+thiram wp and benomyl+thiram wp reduced disease infection more effectively than 24 hrs immersion of seeds. However, dressing of carpropamid+imidacloprid+fludioxonil wp to wet seeds did not reduced disease as well as wettable liquid of fludioxonil. The results suggest that the bakanae disease might be disinfected effectively by 24 hrs immersion of seeds in prochloraz emulsion and seed dressing of fungicides.

비파나무 및 홍가시나무 점무늬병의 살균제 방제효과 (Efficacy of Fungicides for the Control of Leaf Spots on Eriobotrya japonica and Photinia glabra)

  • 2000년대 후반부터 고흥지역의 비파나무(Eriobotrya japonica)와 제주지역의 홍가시나무(Photinia glabra)에 Entomosporium mespili에 의한 극심한 점무늬병이 발생하기 시작하였다. 따라서 방제효과가 높은 살균제를 선발하기 위하여 이 연구를 수행하였다. 효과를 검정한 3개의 농약 중 비파나무 점무늬병에는 propiconazole 처리가 방제가 64.1%로 가장 높게 나타났고, 홍가시나무 점무늬병에는 chlorothalonil 처리가 방제가 87.6%로 가장 높게 나타났다. Thiopanate-methyl 처리는 방제가가 비교적 낮게 나타났고, propiconazole은 홍가시나무에 약해를 나타내었다.

  • Human African Trypanosomiasis (HAT) also known as sleeping sickness, is a neglected tropical vector borne disease caused by trypanosome protozoa transmitted by bites of infected tsetse fly. The basic reproduction number, R0 derived using the next generation matrix method which shows that the disease persists in the population if the value of R0 > 1. The numerical simulations of optimal control model carried out to determine the control strategy that can combat HAT under the minimum cost. The results indicate that, the use of both education campaign, treatment and insecticides are more efficient and effective to eliminate HAT in African community but too costly. Furthermore, the cost-effectiveness of the control measures (education campaign, treatment and insecticides) were determined using incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (ICER) approach and the results show that, the use of education and treatment of infected people as the best cost effective strategy compared to other strategies.

올레산을 이용한 오이의 흰가루병 방제 (Control of Powdery Mildew on Cucumber by Using Oleic Acid in the Greenhouse)

  • 본 연구는 온실 내 오이재배에서 크게 문제가 되는 흰가루병의 친환경적 방제를 위한 방법으로 올레산의 사용에 대한 효과와 올레산 처리 시 적정 농도를 구명하기 위해 수행되었다. 실험은 상명대학교 플라스틱 실험온실에서 '백봉다다기(농우바이오, 한국)'를 사용하여 수행하였다. 오이의 흰가루병에 대한 올레산의 처리효과와 적정농도 구명을 위한 실험은 무처리구를 대조구로 하고 올레산 2000 ppm, 4000 ppm, 6000 ppm, 8000 ppm을 각각 처리하고 병피해도, 병반면적율, 방제가, 약해피해도 및 약해면적율을 조사하였다. 방제가는 처리 3일 후에 조사했으며, 재발생 조사는 55일간 수행하였다. 시설 내 주야간 온도는 $23/15^{\circ}C$로 조절하였고, 상대습도는 조절하지 않았다. 오이의 흰가루병 방제에 올레산은 매우 효과적인 것으로 나타나서 화학적 방제를 대체할 수 있는 좋은 친환경 유기농자재로 판단되었다. 올레산은 2000 ppm 농도로 분무하는 것이 방제가가 높으며, 약해가 발생하지 않는 것으로 조사되었다. 또한 흰가루병의 예방 및 재발생 방지를 위해 3주에 1회씩 올레산을 분무하는 것이 좋을 것으로 사료된다.

한지형 잔디의 설부소립균핵병 방제를 위한 살균제 평가 (Evaluation of Fungicides for Control of Gray Snow Mold Caused by Typhula incarnata on Cool Season Turfgrass)

  • Typhula incarnata에 의한 설부병 방제를 위한 살균제의 효과를 골프코스에서 평가하였다. 살균제의 살포효과, 살균제의 혼용효과, 살균제의 살포방법에 의한 효과 및 살포시기에 의한 설부병의 방제효과에 미치는 영향을 용평 골프장에서 평가하였다. 무처리구는 3종의 살균제처리구보다 병 피해가 더욱 심각하였다. 3종의 살균제(Azoxystrobin, propiconazole, tebuconazole)는 Kentucky bluegrass 종과 creeping bentrasss 종의 잔디에서 80% 이상의 설부병을 방제하는 효과가 있었다. 2종 이상의 혼용살포에 의한 설부병의 방제효과는 Kentucky bluegrass 종에서 93% 이상 방제효과가 있었다. Azoxystrobin 살균제를 관주와 경엽살포에 대한 설부병 방제 효과는 2종의 잔디에서 모두 유의성의 차이가 없었다. 살균제 살포시기에 따른 설부병 방제 효과는 tebuconazole 살포구에서 유의성 있었다. 이른 가을에 살포하는 것이 더 효과적이었다.

석회보르도액 살포가 거봉포도의 노균병 발생에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Bordeaux Mixture for Control of Grape cv. 'Kyoho' downy Mildew (Plasmopara viticola))

  • Bordeaux mixture made with each grade of lime and copper sulfate was tested general property and disease control value. Bordeaux mixture was made by composition of each grade of lime (95%, 80%) with each grade of copper sulfate(98.5%, 95%). Phytotoxicity was evaluated to Bordeaux mixture made with each grade of lime and copper sulfate, and then low grade copper sulfate (95%) was more severely in the grapevine leaf. Bordeaux mixture, made with each grade lime and copper sulfate, were tried to evaluate control effects of downy mildew in field. As a result, Bordeaux mixture (95% of lime and 98.5% of copper sulfate, 6-6) applied 5 times at late in June was showed more effective disease control value than any other trials of Bordeaux mixture. There was no difference in nutrient status of petiole each treatment. But fruit characteristics were shown more slightly improved quality.

넙치 양식장의 질병관리등급 평가기준 개선 및 적용 (Improvement and Application of Assessment Criteria on Disease Control Level in Olive Flounder Aquaculture Farms)

  • Korean government has issued the ratings standard for disease control of aquaculture farms according to the Aquatic Life Disease Control Act in 2008. There are five rating criteria within the enforcement regulations; period of disease free, performance of disinfection, environmental and hygienic management, keeping record of trade and sales, completion of education for disease control. There are no application has been applied on the basis of the rating criteria so far because detailed subcriteria and scoring indicators has not established for assessment process. In order to apply the ratings standard for disease control, we set up the subcriteria and new scoring for rating disease control level based on legal criteria in this study. This study was conducted on 90 targeted olive flounder farms in Jeju. The result of disease control level assessment on olive flounder aquaculture farms show the overall average of Jeju-do was 72.9 points and differed depending on the district; 74.7 in Jeju-si and 71.1 in Seogwipo-si, respectively. The Spearman correlation of each evaluation index show the disease control level score was correlated highly with the performance of disinfection(R=0.715, p<0.01), and environmental and hygienic management(R=0.661, p<0.01). The result of correlation analysis show that there is the highest correlation between the aquaculture farm status and the total mortality(R= -0.618, p<0.01). The reliability of the results are considered to be accurate in the Cronbach's alpha value of 0.727.

Implementation of Health Behavior Education Concerning Liver Flukes among Village Health Volunteers in an Epidemic Area of Thailand

  • Background: Liver fluke infection is associated with cholangiocarcinoma; the bile duct cancer found frequently in the northeast and north of Thailand. Prevention and control particularly requires health education and behavior change. Objective: This study aimed to improve health behavior among village health volunteers (VHV) regarding liver fluke exposure in an epidemic area. Materials and Methods: A quasi-experimental study was performed during July 2015 to January 2016 in Sang Kha district of Surin province, Thailand. A total of 67 VHVs underwent a health education program (HEP) and data were collected on knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) before and after participation for HEP 3 months with a pre-designed questionnaire. The Students paired T-test was used for comparisons of mean KAP levels before/after the intervention. Results: The results revealed that knowledge (P-value=0.004), attitude (P-value=0.004), and practice level (P-value=0.000) were significantly improved after participation in the HBP. Attitude was significantly associated with knowledge (r=0.266, p<0.05), and practice (r=0.348, p<0.01). Conclusions: The implementation of health education among VHVs is feasible and increases their KAP. This improvement should have potential in liver fluke prevention and control in local communities in rural Thailand.

혼용된 2종의 살균제 살포 농도 및 간격에 따른 잔디 동전마름병 방제효과 (Control Effect on Dollar Spot Disease Caused by Sclerotinia homoeocarpa under Different Application Rates and Intervals with Two Mixed Fungicides)

  • Sclerotinia homoeocarpa F.T. Bennett에 의한 동전마름병은 우리나라 골프장에서 지역에 관계없이 일반적이며 경제적으로 가장 중요한 잔디 병 중 하나이다. 크리핑벤트그래스로 조성된 골프장 그린에서 propiconazole과 boscalid를 혼합제로 하여 방제효과를 평가하였다. 혼합제의 약량은 기준량과 기준량의 1/2량, 2/3량으로 하였고, 살포간격은 각각 10일과 15일 간격으로 3회 처리하였다. 동전마름병은 2개 포장의 무처리구에서 각각 반복별 평균 48.3, 60.0%의 발생을 보였다. 각 처리구는 1개의 처리구(기준량의 1/2 처리구로 15일 간격 살포)를 제외하고 처리별 통계적 유의성은 없었다. 따라서 현장에서 농약회사에서 추천하는 기준량의 농도보다 낮은 농도(기준량의 2/3 및 1/2 농도)로 15일 간격으로 살포하게 될 경우 기준량에 준하는 약효를 얻을 수 있으므로 살포 농약량, 인력, 병원균의 약제 저항성 등을 낮추는 효과를 보일 것으로 예상된다.
