BTS from "N.O" to "ON" and BEyond: Innovation in Effective Mental Health Messaging and Modelling

  • Over seven years, BTS have organically embedded consistent mental health messaging and modelling of various mental health modalities, representing innovation within mental health discourse, within and outside the pop and K-pop culture and fandom. Their personal and artistic journeys have resulted in songs, imagery, and relationship dynamics within the group and within and between their fans ARMY, that organically model behaviours associated with mental health therapeutic modalities and normalize the discussion of mental health and well-being. This practice is vitally important in the effort to end stigma and encourage mental health well-being and recovery. BTS's authenticity establishes empathy with their audience ARMY and increases their ability to deliver these messages effectively. This includes fostering the creation of a peer support community within the group that extends to their fanbase ARMY, and from which fan-created mental health programs have emerged. BTS's innovation will be explored by examining content creation throughout their career, illustrating their consistent and organic messaging, culminating in overt and conscious mental health content in their latest album BE, which was released three weeks after the initial paper was presented, and provides proof of concept.

  • “The ultimate aim of the anthropology of art [fashion] must be the dissolution of art [fashion].” Alfred Gell, Art and Agency (1998) This study aims to rethink fashion by examining issues that have emerged out of recent writings in the anthropology of art. Since their inaugural coinciding, sound discussions have emerged between the anthropology of art and the art world, addressing such subjects as: ‘artworks and artefacts’, ‘Western and non- Western discourse’, and ‘art and agency’ (Gell 1992; 1993; 1996; 1998). This study is comprised of a series of discussions, the subjects of which follow: the relationship between fashion and art; art and the anthropology of art; and in parallel with this, examining the possibility for an anthropology of fashion. This study employs a qualitative approach based on the discussion of relevant literatures dealing with fashion, art and art theory for its methodology, followed by a brief examination of a case of the Vivienne Westwood exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum in terms of an empirical account.

A Case Study of Classroom Cultural Aspects Affecting Discussions and Discourses: A Conceptual Ecological Approach

  • This paper presents a case study of the student's culture as a component of conceptual ecology that affects discussions and discourses in the science classroom. The present study was conducted using a naturalistic approach, mainly through observing a science class of a middle school in Seoul, Korea, and through semistructured interviews. The case showed that the science classroom culture can be identified in four aspects: (1) knowledge; (2) the teacher; (3) classmates; and (4) self. These cultural aspects were strongly related to each other and functioned as constraints in discussions and discourses of the science classroom. For successful discussions and discourses, it is necessary to consider students' cultural aspects: epistemological views on knowledge, the teacher-student and student-student relationships, and the role of self in the discussions and discourses.

The Shifts of Masculine Domination in Vietnam: Examining Mixed and Hybrid Characteristics in Feminist Texts on Vietnamese Newspapers in the Early Twentieth Century

  • This paper aims to identify the shifts of masculine domination, illuminating Vietnamese men and women's actual position in society through surveying the mixed and hybrid characteristics described in the feminist texts in the early twentieth century. This paper concentrates on the feminist writings of the two exceptionally male intellectuals Nguyễn Văn Vĩnh (1882-1936) and Phan Khôi (1887-1959). in order to implement these goals, the paper first examines the popular phenomenon of ventriloquism among Vietnamese male intellectuals, whose dominant attitudes may still be unveiled in feminist texts. Secondly, the paper focuses on surveys of men's direct discourse in constructing the model of women's liberation. From these two contents, this paper answers the following questions: Why have Vietnamese men become feminists? What were the causes, purposes, and effects of this phenomenon? To look at the nature of Vietnamese feminism, this paper will show the shifts of masculine domination in Vietnam as another form of protecting men's privileges. All analyses in this study will ground discussion on the economic, political, and social contexts and conditions of Vietnam in the early twentieth century.

어머니의 부모와의 애착관계에 대한 내적 실행모델 -성인애착면접(Adult Attachment Interview)을 중심으로- (Mother's Internal Working Model for Attachment Relationships; Adult Attachment Interview)

  • The purpose of the study was to examine the adaptability of AAI(Adult Attachment Interview) in Korea. The subjects were 20 mothers who had toddlers from middle class. AAI was administrated to them. Interviews were audiotaped and transcribed verbatim. The results showed that Korean Mothers' AAI classifications were Secure-Autonomous(F) 60%, Insecure=Dismissing(Ds) 20%, Insecure-Preoccupied(E) 5%, Insecure-Unresolved/disorganized(U/d) 15%. The classification of AAI was significantly related with mothers' education, but not mothers' age. Autonomous mothers discribed consistently in evaluation of attachment-related experiences and valued attachment. Dismissing mothers showed a incoherent discourse and dismissed attachment-related experiences and relations. Preoccupied mother sticted to past attachment relationship and perplexed with evaluation of these experiences. Unresolved mothers showed lapse during discussion of loss or abuse and were not free from past experiences. Based on the findings of the study, it was found th AAI(Adult Attachment Interview) can be used for evaluation of mother's internal working model in Korean culture.

컴퓨터게임의 서사와 장르의 상관관계에 관한 고찰 (A Study on Interrelationship between Narrative and Genres of Computer Games)

  • 컴퓨터게임의 서사 개념을 이용하여 장르를 구분하는 틀을 제시하려 하였다. 게임의 서사에 대해서는 아직 논란이 많은 편이기는 하지만, 전통적인 개념으로서 게임 연구에 있어서도 유용하게 사용할 수 있을 것으로 보았다. 본론에서는 서사의 통합체/계열체적 속성과 서사가 게임에서 차지하는 비중이라는 두 축을 이용하여 각 컴퓨터게임의 장르의 위치를 설정하였다. 이에 따르면 게임장르의 서사적 특성을 반영한 위치를 찾을 수 있었다.

Reflection on the Educator Mindset for Teaching Mathematics to Diverse Students in the Constructivist Elementary Classroom

  • In this perspective paper, we present seven elements of the appropriate educator mindset for teaching in the constructivist elementary mathematics classroom. The elements include supporting students as they construct their own understanding, eliminating deficit view of slow learners, setting new understanding and growth as the learning objective, providing opportunities to co-construct meaning with peers, using student contributions as the source of curricular material, encouraging all students to participate in learning, and providing instruction not bounded by time. In our struggles to provide authentic, inclusive elementary classrooms, we hope that our discussion of the educator mindset can increase discourse on constructivism from philosophy to practice in the community of mathematics education and policy makers.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 역사적으로 한국언론에 나타난 교육위기담론의 의미구성방식과 주체 구성방식을 분석함으로써 한국사회의 진보-보수 언론이 갖는 대립적 입장과 이데올로기적 특성들을 드러내는 데 있다. 이를 위해 미셀 페쇠의 담론이론에서 제시된 언어체계의 선택과 조합방식들-선구성과 절합 메커니즘-, 그리고 이데올로기의 주체구성 방식을 이론적으로 검토한 후, 실제 사례분석에 들어가고자 한다. 사례분석의 대상은 조선일보와 한겨레신문이고, 두 신문의 진보와 보수라는 상징적 적대성을 근거로 선정했다. 이와 함께 "교실붕괴"나 "학교붕괴" 등의 교육위기 담론을 현장진술, 원인과 책임규명 그리고 사후대책의 범주 속에서 분석하고자 한다.

조선전기 회화인식(繪畫認識)에 나타난 진(眞) 추구와 전개양상 고찰 (A Study on the Aspect of Evolution and the Pursuit of Reality appeared in Cognizance of Paintings on the Pre-chosun Dynasty)

  • 본 논문은 조선전기 문인들의 제화시(題畵詩)와 화론(?論)에 나타난 진(眞)에 대한 인식과 전개 양상을 살피고, 이를 토대로 그 의미와 내재된 사상을 고찰하였다. 따라서 이 논문은 문인들의 자연관과 수기(修己)의 가치로서 보는 회화의 효용성, 그리고 제화시와 화론에서 담론된 진(眞)과 그에 상대하는 가(假)와 환(幻)의 개념분석으로 이루어졌다. 우선회화와 관련하여 유자들이 거경(居敬), 궁리(窮理)하기 위한 수양의 장으로 삼은 자연관을 확인하였다. 수기의 효용성에서 회화가 심성수양에 필요한 가치를 지닌 정당성을 서술하였다. 진의 담론에서는 자연의 진[天眞]이 탈진(奪眞)과정을 거쳐 '마음속의 진[人眞]'이 되도록 옮기는 전환과정에서 환(幻)이 갖는 작용과 의미를 살폈고, 또한 환(幻)과 빌림[假] 사이에 존재하는 역할의 차이 및 변화가 전개되는 과정을 분석하였다. 이 과정에서 중심 개념인 진에 상대하며 개념화된 가(假)와 환(幻)의 의미가 언어적 의미를 넘어 가(假)는 빌림과 그림의 의미로, 환(幻)은 하나의 인식작용과 변환작용의 의미로 분화되는 과정을 분석하였다. 이로써 진 개념이 사변적 의미를 부여받으며 개념화된 이후, 조선전기의 회화창작 및 감상활동에서 자연의 진, 외물의 내적 실질[眞], 그림의 진, 마음의 진 등으로 존재하며, 최고의 가치로써 추구대상이 되고 있음을 밝혔다.

근대와 탈근대 담론에서 존재론적 '사이'로서의 로컬리티 (Locality as ontological 'Between' in Modern and Postmodern Discourse)

  • 이 글은 근대에 의한 현대 체제 일반과 그를 극복하려는 탈근대 담론 안에서 왜 로컬 혹은 로컬리티가 필연적으로 인간 삶의 존재론적 '사이'의 문제로 제기될 수밖에 없는지를 철학적으로 조명하려는 시도를 담고 있다. 따라서 우리는 근대와 탈근대의 논의 과정에서 제기된 수많은 문제들 중 인간존재에 대한 근본적인 물음을 제기하면서 동시에 인간 삶의 질을 점검할 필요가 있다(2). 또한 이 과정에서 로컬 혹은 로컬리티는 인간 삶의 질과 어떤 연관성을 맺고 있는지도 자세히 들여다보아야 할 것이다. 왜냐하면 로컬 안에서만 비로소 인간은 다양한 질감의 흔적과 주름들이 뒤엉켜 시간과 장소를 의미화시켜 나가는 주체가 되기 때문이다. 여기서 주체들은 상호주관적 관계망을 통해 사회를 이루고 함께 살아간다는 것을 확인할 수 있다(3). 이럴 때 로컬 혹은 로컬리티는 참된 인간적 사회적 삶이 가능한 장소, 즉 존재론적 '사이'로서 로컬리티 인문학의 가능성으로 드러나게 될 것이다(4).
