  • In this study, the Kernel integration scheme for 2D linear elastic direct boundary element method has been discussed on the basis of subparametric element. Usually, the isoparametric based boundary element uses same polynomial order in the both basis function and mapping function. On the other hand, the order of mapping function is lower than the order of basis function to define displacement field when the subparametric concept is used. While the logarithmic numerical integration is generally used to calculate Kernel integration as well as Cauchy principal value approach, new formulation has been derived to improve the accuracy of numerical solution by algebraic modification. The subparametric based direct boundary element has been applied to 2D elliptical partial differential equation, especially for plane stress/strain problems, to demonstrate whether the proposed algebraic expression for integration of singular Kernel function is robust and accurate. The problems including cantilever beam and square plate with a cutout have been tested since those are typical examples of simple connected and multi connected region cases. It is noted that the number of DOFs has been drastically reduced to keep same degree of accuracy in comparison with the conventional isoparametric based BEM. It is expected that the subparametric based BEM associated with singular Kernel function integration scheme may be extended to not only subparametric high order boundary element but also subparametric high order dual boundary element.

  • The purpose of the direct cortical and subcortical stimulation technique is to prevent false positives caused by transcranial electrical motor evoked potentials (TceMEP) in surgery on patients with brain tumors that have occurred around the motor cortex and to preserve the correct mapping of motor areas during surgery and the corticospinal tract. In addition, it reduces the trial and error that occurs during the intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (INM) process and minimizes the test time, so that accurate information is communicated to the surgeon with quick feedback on the test results. The most important factors of this technique are, first, examination at a stimulus threshold of a certain intensity, and second, maintaining anesthesia depth at an appropriate level to prevent false positives from occurring during surgery. The third is the installation of a multi-level channel recording electrode on the opposite side of the area of operation to measure the TceMEP waveform and the response to direct cortical and subcortical stimulation in as many muscles as possible. If these conditions are maintained, it is possible to predict causes that may occur in other factors, not false positives, from the INM test.

  • We present our recent work published in the MNRAS (Lee and Kim, 2014). Numerical studies of the imaging and caustic properties of the singular isothermal sphere (SIS) under a wide range of external shear (from 0.0 to 2.0) are presented. Using a direct inverse mapping formula for this lensing system, we investigate various lensing properties for both low-shear (i.e. ${\gamma}$<1.0) and high-shear (i.e. ${\gamma}$ >1.0) cases. We systematically analyse the effective lensing cross-sections of double-lensing and quadruple-lensing systems, based on the radio luminosity function obtained by the Jodrell-VLA Astrometric Survey (JVAS) and the Cosmic Lens All-Sky Survey (CLASS). We find that the limit of a survey selection bias (i.e. between brighter and fainter images) preferentially reduces the effective lensing cross-sections of two-image lensing systems. By considering the effects of survey selection bias, we demonstrate that the long-standing anomaly over the high quads-to-doubles ratios (i.e. 50~70 % for JVAS and CLASS) can be explained by the moderate effective shear of 0.16~0.18, which is half that of previous estimates. The derived inverse-mapping formula could make the SIS + shear lensing model useful for galaxy-lensing simulations.

  • In order to overcome the problems of current approaches to metadata interoperability based on element mapping, this research proposed Master Element Framework that is an alternative approach to metadata interoperability. It is an approach to integrate metadata elements that have the same value, instead of direct mapping between similar elements. Master Element Framework is constructed to semantically integrate metadata elements in a hierarchical order and to interconnect between heterogeneous metadata standards. This approach is expected to be an alternative approach to metadata interoperability.

  • In this study, the design of 4S-Van system is discussed fur the implementation of laser mapping system. Laser device is fast and accurate sensor that acquires 3D road and surface data. The orientation laser sensor is determined by loosely coupled (D)GPS/INS Integration. Considering current system architecture, (D)GPS/INS integration is performed far performance analysis of direct georeferencing and self-calibration is performed for interior and exterior orientation and displacement. We utilized 3 laser sensors for compensation and performance improvement. 3D surface data from laser scanner and texture image from CCD camera can be used to implement 3D visualization.

  • High resolution x-ray diffraction and two dimensional triple axis mapping were used to characterize a group of GaN layers of about 1.1$\mu$m grown by direct current plasma molecular beam epitaxy technique on 6H-SiC(0001). A FWHM of 11.9 arcmins for an $\omega$ scan and 1.2 arcmins for an $\omega$/2$\theta$ scan were observed. A careful study of the rocking curves showed there were some large mosaics in the GaN layer and a tilt of $0.029^{\circ}$ between the GaN layer and the SIC substrate was detected. The two dimensional triple axis mapping showed that the GaN mosaica were disoriented in the (0001) plane but rather uniformed in direction perpendicular to the plane. A mosaics were disoriented in the (0001) plane but rather uniformed in direction perpendicular to the plane. A mosaic model was deduced to explain the phenomenon and the dislocation density was estimated to be about~$10^9\;\textrm{cm}^{-2}$ acc ding to the model.

  • Fuzzy controllers have been successfully applied to many cases to which conventional control algorithms are difficult to be applied. Even though the representations and the processings of data and information in the fuzzy controller are quite different from those in other control algorithms, the information processing operation that it caries out is basically a function ∫: $A{\subset}R^n{\to}R^m$, from a bounded subset A of an n-dimensional Euclidean space to a bounded subset f[A] of an m-dimensional Euclidean space, where n and m are the number of measured states and the number of control inputs of the controlled system, respectively. Under the assumptions of Mamdani's direct reasoning method and C.O.G.(center of gravity) defuzzification method, the fuzzy controllers are proven to perform the mapping of any given functions f with appropriately defined fuzzy sets. The mapping capabilities of fuzzy controllers are analyzed in detail for two cases, ∫: $R^{1}{\to}R^{1}$ and g: $R^{2}{\to}R^{1}$. Also, it will be shown that the results can be extended to multiple dimensional cases.

  • Based on the known binary sequence sets and Gray mapping, a new method for constructing quaternary sequence sets is presented and the resulting sequence sets' properties are investigated. As three direct applications of the proposed method, when we choose the binary aperiodic, periodic, and Z-complementary sequence sets as the known binary sequence sets, the resultant quaternary sequence sets are the quaternary aperiodic, periodic, and Z-complementary sequence sets, respectively. In comparison with themethod proposed by Jang et al., the new method can cope with either both the aperiodic and periodic cases or both even and odd lengths of sub-sequences, whereas the former is only fit for the periodic case with even length of sub-sequences. As a consequence, by both our and Jang et al.'s methods, an arbitrary binary aperiodic, periodic, or Z-complementary sequence set can be transformed into a quaternary one no matter its length of sub-sequences is odd or even. Finally, a table on the existing quaternary periodic complementary sequence sets is given as well.

  • In this study, it was estimated efficiency of GPS/INS photogrammetry by comparison of accuracy and economical efficiency between conventional aerial triangulation and GPS/INS aerial triangulation at the base of large scale digital mapping using GPS/INS aerial survey. The results of aerial triangulation with GPS/INS showed that 40% of working amount was reduced in the process of ground control point survey compared to conventional aerial triangulation. In case of 1/5000 scale aerial triangulation, the results showed that 55% GCP work was reduced in 10 and 20 block size, and 60% GCP work was reduced in 30 block size, under the assumption of keeping the same accuracy.

  • R2RML is a W3C standard language that defines how to expose the relational data as RDF triples. The output from an R2RML mapping is only an RDF dataset. By definition, the dataset has no schema. The lack of schema makes the dataset in linked data portal impractical for integrating and analyzing data. To address this issue, we propose an approach for generating automatically schemas for RDF graphs populated by R2RML mappings. More precisely, we represent the schema using ShEx, which is a language for validating and describing RDF. Our approach allows to generate ShEx schemas as well as RDF datasets from R2RML mappings. Our ShEx schema can provide benefits for both data providers and ordinary users. Data providers can verify and guarantee the structural integrity of the dataset against the schema. Users can write SPARQL queries efficiently by referring to the schema. In this paper, we describe data structures and algorithms of the system to derive ShEx documents from R2RML documents and presents a brief demonstration regarding its proper use.
