This paper analyzed the precision and accuracy of the altitude-aided GNSS using the altitude information from digital map. The precision of altitude-aided GNSS is analysed using the theoretically derived DOP. It is confirmed that the precision of altitude-aided GNSS is superior to the general 3D positioning method. It is also shown that the DOP of altitude-aided GNSS is independent of altitude bias error while the accuracy was influenced by the altitude bias error. Furthermore, it is shown that, since the altitude bias error influenced differently to each pseudorange measurement, the effect of the altitude bias error is more serious than clock bias error which does not influence position error at all. The results are evaluated by the simulation using the commercial RF simulator and GPS receiver. It confirmed that altitude-aided GNSS could improve not only precision but also accuracy if the altitude bias error are small. These results are expected to be easily applied for the performance improvement to the land and maritime applications.

Visibility of the satellite navigation is related to a environmental condition of a receiver. Obstacles like buildings and trees in urban areas can block signals and have effects on accuracy and reliability of positioning. This paper presents a method of creating 3D analysis model of urban canyon of Seoul using three-Dimensional digital map. Analysis techniques of visible satellites with Ray-Polygon Collision Detection and validation of algorithm through field tests are discussed. We have compared and analyzed the visibility of GPS and Galileo with respect to separate and simultaneous tracking in view of DOP (Dilution of Precision) using the 3D GIS digital map.

In the paper, we predict the number of multi-GNSS satellites and visible satellites with the navigation satellite launch plans and their nominal orbit parameters. Based on the methodology, the multi-GNSS navigation performance and DOP (Dilution of Precision) variation from 2015 to 2020 were forecasted by the Matlab simulation. To calculate the position using the multi-GNSS constellation, we determined the time-offset between the two different systems. Two different algorithms were considered for the sake of time-offset determination; that of each was applied to system level and user side. Also, the results from two algorithms were compared for evaluating each performance. For the reality, we applied the 3D map information to the simulation, which is expected to contribute for predicting the future navigation performance in urban canyon.

For a relatively small country like Korea, a radionavigation system using airships can be considered, which is to provide the navigation service utilizing the stratospheric airships that are deployed in the stratosphere at the altitude of around 20-23km, and which is an independent or a back-up radionavigation system other than current GPS or GLONASS. In this paper, a feasibility study on the constellation of stratospheric airships for the navigation system has been performed. A measure of a geometrical condition between a receiver and navigation transmitters. called the DOP (Dilution of Precision), determines the resulting positioning error of the navigation system, if the error of range measurement is predictable. Therefore, with assumption that the range measurement error of the stratospheric airship navigation system is quite similar to GPS. the several DOP values have been used to evaluate the performance of the navigation system with comparing with the DOP values of GPS as the reference values. To provide the position information of the navigation transmitters to users, a receiver cluster system fixed on the ground, called an IGPS (inverted GPS), is proposed, and the error is also evaluated using the DOP values. Five areas around five major cities in South Korea have been selected, and then by numerical simulations the DOP values are compared those of GPS to assess the performance of the proposed navigation system using stratospheric airships. The possible frequency bands have been proposed. and then link budget of the navigation transmitter has been analyzed for the proposed navigation system.

Geometric effect of landmarks to the navigation error is investigated in the two-dimensional line-of-sight measurement based vision navigation system. DOP is derived between line-of-sight measurement error and navigation solution error. For cases of three landmarks in an area, variations of the DOP were observed through computer simulations. Vision navigation system experiments were performed for the cases. Simulation and experimental results show that navigation solution errors have similar trend to DOP values of the simulation.

There are several applications and error analysis methods using GPS(Global Positioning System) In most analysis positioning and timing errors are represented as the multiplication of DOP(Dilution Of Precision) and measurement errors, which are affected by the receiver and measurement type. Therefore, lots of DOPs are defined and used to analyze and predict the performance of positioning and timing systems. In this paper, the relationships between these DOPs are investigated in detail, The relationships between GDOP(Geometric DOP), PDOP(Position DOP) and TDOP(Time DOP) in the absolute positioning are de-rived. Using these relationships, the affect of clock bias is analyzed. The relationships between RGDOP(Relative DOP) and PDOP are also derived in relative positioning where the single difference and double dif-ference techniques are used. From the results, it is expected that using the common clock will give better performance when the single difference technique is used while the effects of clock is eliminate when the double difference technique is used. Finally, the error analyses of dual frequency receivers show that the narrow lane measurements give more accurate results than wide line of or L1. L2 independent measurements.
In this study, we investigate on location optimization algorithm of radio-navigation transmitter. The DOP for an each receiver is decided by the location of a transmitter. We provide various results that give an optimum DOP according to propagation characteristics. We use the DTED(Digital Terrain Elevation Data) to improve the accuracy.

In this paper, we developed an adoptable deployment method to the transmitting antennas of a ground based GPS system for aircraft. Aircraft generally uses satellite providing GPS signals for accurate position information, but transfers to ground based GPS signals time to time due to jamming signals or bad weather. The position accuracy of the ground based GPS system is highly dependent on the number and position of the GPS transmitting antennas. In this research, we found an algorism to predict the DOP due to the location of the GPS transmitting antennas and had an accurate DOP 2.5 area into 3-dimension from 0 to 10 km by 12 transmitting antennas.

GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) Position Accuracy depends on pseudo-range measurement and DOP (Dilution Of Precision) which indicates about navigation satellite geometry. Pseudo-Range has many error sources such as satellite clock, orbit, ionosphere, troposphere, multipath and so on. For the improvement of the accuracy, user can use corrected pseudo-range in DGPS (Differential Global Positioning System), which is one of the relative positioning methods. But, stationary station is needed in relative positioning. In case of DOP, Signal reception environment is important. If receiver sets in the center of city, it could be interrupted reception by buildings. This environment leads to decrease the number of visible satellites and to increase DOP. This paper proposes the concept of GNSS positioning with virtual satellites which have usable VRM (Virtual Range Measurement). Via virtual satellites and VRM, users could get an accurate position. Especially referred virtual satellites constellation has an effect on vertical error.
