With the rapid and broad changes of information media and information environment the traditional libraries have been evolving into the digital libraries. An analysis for the Planning and realization of the electronic resource management system was carried out to establish the various electronic resources in the digital library, the first in Korea. The study targeted from electronic journals, web-based databases, e-books, and to open access resources. The focus of the analysis lies in the Providing practical integrated electronic resource management for digital librarian based on the framework of effective Electronic Resource Management Initiative(ERMI) of Digital Library Federation(DLF) with network and electronic resource description. The analyses included life-cycle, subscription models, coverages. types of information provider for electronic resources. and system organization for implementation of electronic resource management system.

This study intends to analyze the integrated search methods in digital libraries environment. To categorize various integration methods, I investigated the developmental properties and integration types of digital libraries from a users point of view. And then, I reviewed the current best practices of library portal which are JISC Information Environment, NSDL OCKHAM and Korea Knowledge Portal Initiatives. Nextly, I derived the two methods of Integrated search mechanisms such as aggregated search and distributed search that is useful in the digital libraries environment.

The core competence of the library originates from the huge analog collections and the high-quality digital contents. And when the interaction between two entities strengthens, it will be able to secure the identity as the time capsule and the gateway of knowledge information. Based on these prerequisites, this research analyzed the spectra of digital collection development and presented the various strategies about license of the electronic journals, internet collection development, institutional repository. When the library does not concentrate in digital collection development, the position as information common will be under losing.

The proliferation of digital libraries (DL) in the twenty-first century has revolutionized the way information is generated and disseminated. This has led to various practical and research models of DLs. This paper discusses the concept and development of digital libraries, and examines various components and characteristics of DLs. It further identifies various models and theories of digital libraries with a special focus on the DELOS Reference Model and 5S Theory. The relationship between the two focused frameworks is analyzed for better understanding of their application in the DL universe.

This study presented the necessity of the development of a digital reference service systems as a method for direct information service in the library on the internet. The purpose of this research is to find commonalities for building a model of digital reference service. This study used qualitatives methods(elite interviews and document analysis) to extract accumulated knowhow from fourteen expert services sites which are similar with reference services in the library. For effective management of the digital reference service, it is necessary to have a digital reference service librarian who is well versed in the inner workings of the service and in the knowledge the service deals with.

To develop a policy for effective and efficient information services, it is necessary to perform studies that reflect multi-dimensional perspectives of various groups. For this, a literature review on the information service policies of other national digital libraries, focus group interviews of professionals from related fields, and a survey of library users and librarians are needed. This study is based on a survey that asks library users and librarians for their opinions regarding the NDL as a part of research projects to develop the NDL information service policy.

DLS(Digital Library System) have been established by Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development for providing the application services to each school library managers(teacher librarian) and front end users such as students and teachers. DLS's are separately operated by 15 major metropolitan or provincial office of education to cover all elementary, middle and high schools in Korea. There is a necessity which it will analyze the current status of DLS because it's system after starting a service 2 years passed. This study suggested to improvements strategies of DLS by survey from teacher librarian, subject teacher, students of 308 schools.

Academic libraries are at a turning point. Historically academic libraries were the natural destination for students, faculty, and researchers seeking information. These users came to the library by default. Academic libraries served as the repository for published information as well as the intermediary for acquiring material from the outside world. In this study, suggested are directions of academic library websites construction and current techniques related library 2.0 that could be applied digital information system of academic libraries. The purpose of this study is to propose the expansion of headings for digital trends of Korean Decimal Classification. In order to achieve the purpose, this study first analyzed the change process of classification items related to digital resources in DDC and KDC. Second, subject names related to digital in LCSH and Korean National Library Subject Heading were analyzed. Third, comparisons between the items related to digital of DDC 23rd with LCSH and KDC with Korean National Library Subject Heading were conducted. The result of comparative analysis was identified that KDC 6th edition faces with difficulties in reasonable classification because item names related to digital of KDC 6th edition have 11 items. Therefore, the item related to digital has to be expanded to new classification item name and has to add include notes and class here notes in KDC.
