  • Although the diffusion of mobile services appears to be occurring much more rapidly than the spread of wired services, there are risks of a new type of digital divide: the mobile divide. The mobile divide, which refers to a specific digital divide that involves the unbalanced diffusion of mobile technologies, must be concretely studied. Thus, this study focuses on the mobile divide with respect to disadvantaged populations. Although various studies suggest that the diffusion of mobile devices may reduce the digital divide, somestudies argue against the positive effect of mobile devices in addressing traditional digital devices. Low and O'Connell (2006) insisted that equity of access to mobile technologies should be considered in the contextof the traditional digital divide; they argued that there may be socio-economic barriers to accessing mobile devices and the mobile Internet that are similar to the socio-economic barriers to accessing stationary computers and the stationary use of the Internet. Focusing on the smartphone divide, this study suggests that emphasizing utilization is an appropriate manner in which to bridge the mobile divide rather than focusing on other factors, such as accessibility and capability, thatprevious studies have used to measure the traditional digital divide.

  • Test methodology is diversity by devices and the number of test pattern is tremendous because the digital circuit includes TTL and CMOS family ICs as well as high density devices such as ROM and RAM. Accordingly, the quick and effective test strategy is required to enhance the test productivity. This paper proposes the test strategy which is able to be applied efficiently to the diversity devices on the digital circuit board by analyzing the structure and characteristic of the digital device. Especially, this test strategy detects the faulted digital device or the faulted digital circuit on the digital board using SSA(Serial Signature Analysis) technique based on the polynomial division theory The SSA technique identifies the faults by comparing the reminder from good device with reminder from the tested device. At this time, the reminder is obtained by enforcing the data stream obtained from output pins of the tested device on the LFSR(Linear Feedback Shift Register) representing the characteristic equation. Also, the method to obtain the optimal signature analysis circuit is explained by furnishing the short bit input streams to the long bit input streams to the LFSR having 8, 12, 16, 20bit input/output pins and by analyzing the occurring probability of error which is impossible to detect. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed test strategy is verified by simulating the stuck at 1 errors or stuck at 0 errors for several devices on typical 8051 digital board.

  • Objective: The aim of this study is to develop an analysis method to extract plausible types of errors when using a smart mobile in nuclear power plants. Background: Smart mobiles such as a smart-phone and a tablet computer(smart-pad) are to be introduced to the various industries. Nuclear power plant like APR1400 already adopted many up-to-date digital devices within its main control room. With this trend, various types of smart mobiles will be inevitably introduced to the nuclear field in the near future. However nuclear power plants(NPPs) should be managed considering a big risk as a result of the trend not only economically but also socially compared to the other industrial systems. It is formally required to make sure to reasonably prevent the all hazards due to the introduction of new technologies and devices before the application to the specific tasks in nuclear power plants. Method: We define interaction segments(IS) as a main architect of interaction description, and enumerate all plausible error segments(ES) for a part of design evaluation of digital devices. Results: We identify various types of interaction errors which are coped with reasonably by interaction design using smart mobiles. Conclusion: According to the application result of the proposed method, we conclude that the proposed method can be utilized to specify the requirements to the human error hazards in digital devices, and to conduct a human factors review during the design of digital devices. Application: The proposed method can be applied to predict the human errors of the tasks related to the digital devices; therefore we can ensure the safety to apply the digital devices to be introduced to NPPs.

  • Objective: This study attempted to verify the effectiveness of parent education programs which emphasize parents' direct interaction with young children even when using digital devices. For this purpose, parents' play beliefs and their interaction with their children were evaluated by taking a pre-test and post-test. Methods: The subjects of this study were parents of young children attending child care centers. The collected data were analyzed by one-way covariate analysis (ANCOVA) to find out if there was a significant difference in post-test scores after controlling the pre-test as a covariate to minimize possible errors between groups before the experiment. Results: Parents, who had participated in the parent education program which emphasized parents' direct interaction with young children when using digital devices, showed higher increases of play support beliefs and parent-child interaction than the comparative group. Conclusion/Implications: This study confirmed that in order to develop digital fluency from early childhood, parents should avoid indiscriminate use of digital devices at home, maintain direct interaction with their children even when giving them digital devices to play with, and support healthy growth by way of continuing sensitive interaction with their children.

  • PURPOSE. The maximum width between the mesial and distal labial transitional line angles, described as "esthetic width" herein, could significantly influence the visual perception of the teeth and smile. This study aimed to conduct biometric research on esthetic width and to explore whether regular distribution exists in the esthetic width of human teeth. MATERIALS AND METHODS. A total of 4,264 maxillary and mandibular anterior teeth were measured using the Geomagic studio software program. The proportions of maxillary to mandibular homonymous teeth and proportions between the adjacent teeth were calculated. Bilateral symmetry and the correlation between the esthetic and mesiodistal widths were both accounted for during the measurement procedures. RESULTS. The mean esthetic widths were 6.773 ± 0.518 mm and 4.329 ± 0.331 mm for maxillary and mandibular central incisors, respectively, 5.451 ± 0.487 mm and 5.008 ± 0.351 mm for maxillary and mandibular lateral incisors, respectively, and 3.340 ± 0.353 mm and 5.958 ± 0.415 mm for maxillary and mandibular canines, respectively. Except for the mandibular canines, no significant difference in esthetic width was found among homonymous teeth from the same jaw. A high linear correlation was found between the esthetic and mesiodistal widths of the same tooth, except for the maxillary canines. Esthetic width proportions among different tooth categories showed some regular patterns, which were similar to those of the mesiodistal width. CONCLUSION. Esthetic width is regularly distributed among the teeth in the Chinese population. This could provide an important reference for anterior dental restorations and dimension recovery in esthetic reconstruction of anterior teeth.
