  • Maple syrup urine disease or branched chain ketoacidurias caused by a deficiency in activity of the branched-chain ${\alpha}$-keto acid dehydrogenase(BCKD) complex. This metabolic block results in the accumulation of the branched-chain amino acids(BCAAs) leucine, isoleucine and valine, and the corresponding branched chain ${\alpha}$-keto acids (BCKAs). Based on the clinical presentation and biochemical responses to thiamine administration, MSUD patients can be divided into five phenotypes : classic, intermediate, intermittent, thiamine responsive and dihydrolipoyl dehydrogenase(E3)-deficient. Classic MSUD has a neonatal onset of encephalopathy, and is the most severe ad most common form. Variant forms of MSUD generally have the initial symptoms by 2 years of age. The majority of untreated classic patients die within the early months of life from recurrent metabolic crisis and neurologic deterioration. Treatment involves both longterm dietary management and aggressive intervention during acute metabolic decompensation. We report here our experience of longterm diet therapy and treatment of acute metabolic decompensation of a case of classic MSUD.

  • A monotype valve body for a dual clutch transmission has the potential to reduce costs, weight, and manufacturing time by modularizing various parts, including those of existing solenoid packs and valve bodies, into one through the application of super-precision die casting technology. However, this approach may lead to challenges such as reduced rigidity and increased interference due to modularization and compactness, impacting both product performance due to the reduced weight as well as durability and reliability. Unlike existing products, this approach requires a high-precision thin-wall block to avoid more complicated flow line formation, interference between flow lines, and leaks, as well as a strict quality requirement standard and precise inspections including detection of internal defects. To conduct precise inspections, we built an equivalent model corresponding to a driving distance of 300,000 km. Testing involved simulating actual road loads using a real vehicle and a chassis dynamometer in the FTP-75 mode (EPA Federal Test Procedure). The aim of the study was to establish a vehicle load-based part durability model for manufacturing a mono-type valve body and to develop fundamental technology for part weight reduction through preliminary design by introducing analytical weight reduction technology based on the derived results.

  • To determine the factors to affect on stone surface porosities produced from hydrogen gas of additional silicone, both putty and syringe type of 7 commercially different additional silicone impression materials(Blend-A-Scon, Correct VPS, Exaflex, Express, Extrude, Provil, Reprosil) were chosen and NewFujirock(GC) was poured into the impressions of detail-reproducing test block at 1, 15, 30, 45, 60 minutes after the impression materials had set and 4 specimens were made for each pouring time, each type of impression material, and each consisency and So, 280 specimens were made in total. The number of surface porosities of same area($2826 mm^2$) which were typically caused by hydrogen gas using the stereoscope(X 7.5) by two observers. Comparison of putty-syringe type and among the impression materials are tested by Kruscal-Wallis method and Mann-Whitney method(p<0.05). The results are as follows. 1. The number of porosities decreased as the pouring time of stone was delayed on both putty and syringe type of additional silicone materials. 2. The putty type significantly produced more porosities than syringe type except for the group of Reprosil.(p<0.05). 3. In case of putty type, the number of porosities increased as following order. Reprosil / Blend-A-Scon and Provil / Correct VPS and Extrude / Express and Exaflex. 4. In case of syringe type, Blend-A-Scon and Extrude produced no porosity and Exaflex and Provil at 30 minites, but Express produced porosities even at 60 minutes and the most. Additional silicone impression material releases hydrogen gas, and that fact can make the resulting die stone model useless. So, to minimize these adverse effects, it is desirable not to expose putty type of additional silicone on critical impression surface because putty type has a tendency to produce more porosities than syringe type. And it is important to have sufficient time before pouring the stone on impression because porosities produce less as time passes after setting of impression material. Also, there are differences among 7 additional silicone impression materials, so it is desirable to choose adequate brand of additional silicone for good laboratory work.

  • Diverse accessories are used in automobiles, such as navigation systems, front and rear cameras, spoilers, and sun visors. Sun visors block sunlight so that drivers can drive safely with a better view, and they are used in many automobile designs. However, when large plastic products are manufactured using injection molding, there are many difficulties that develop, like weld lines, short shots, flow marks, imperfections, and distortion. In this study, a CAE simulation was conducted based on previous results to predict potential problems in the injection molding of large products. The flow characteristics up to complete charge for the melting resins were captured using a computer-aided engineering simulation. The temperature departure on the front part of a flow was about $10^{\circ}C$ and very stable. The practical ejecting time of the cold runner was about 70 seconds in the simulation. Finally, the capability of a suitable injection machine was calculated and recommended by prediction of the injection pressure and the die clamping force.

  • In this paper, a 2-channel Image-Reject receiver using a 65-nm CMOS process is presented for Ka-band compact radars. The designed receiver consists of Low-Noise Amplifier (LNA), IQ mixer, and Analog Baseband (ABB). ABB includes a complex filter in order to suppress unwanted images, and the variable gain amplifiers (VGAs) in RF block and ABB have gain tuning range from 4.5-56 dB for wide dynamic range. The gain of the receiver is controlled by on-chip SPI controllers. The receiver has noise figure of <15 dB, OP1dB of >4 dBm, image rejection ratio of >30 dB, and channel isolation of >45 dB at the voltage gain of 36 dB, in the Ka-band target frequency. The receiver consumes 420 mA at 1.2 V supply with die area of 4000×1600 ㎛.

  • This work proposes a 12b 30MS/s 0.18um CMOS SAR ADC based on low-power composite switching with an active die area of $0.16mm^2$. The proposed composite switching employs the conventional $V_{CM}$-based switching and monotonic switching sequences while minimizing the switching power consumption of a DAC and the dynamic offset to constrain a linearity of the SAR ADC. Two equally-divided capacitors topology and the reference scaling are employed to implement the $V_{CM}$-based switching effectively and match an input signal range with a reference voltage range in the proposed C-R hybrid DAC. The techniques also simplify the overall circuits and reduce the total number of unit capacitors up to 64 in the fully differential version of the prototype 12b ADC. Meanwhile, the SAR logic block of the proposed SAR ADC employs a simple latch-type register rather than a D flip-flop-based register not only to improve the speed and stability of the SAR operation but also to reduce the area and power consumption by driving reference switches in the DAC directly without any decoder. The measured DNL and INL of the prototype ADC in a 0.18um CMOS are within 0.85LSB and 2.53LSB, respectively. The ADC shows a maximum SNDR of a 59.33dB and a maximum SFDR of 69.83dB at 30MS/s. The ADC consumes 2.25mW at a 1.8V supply voltage.

  • The effect of salicylic acid (SA) on C $d^{2+}$ - induced physiological toxicity in Commelina communis was investigated. 3- weeks old Commelina communis was transferred to and grown in Hoagland solution in the presence or absence of 100 $\mu$M C $d^{2+}$ and SA for 3 weeks. In the treatment of C $d^{2+}$ + SA, the length of stem was increased to 0.7 cm for 3 weeks (C $d^{2+}$, 2.1cm; control, 7.2 cm). C $d^{2+}$ + SA reduced total chlorophyll content up to 86%, and changed chlorophyll a/b ratio below 1.6. C $d^{2+}$ + SA also reduced about 40-78% of water potential, but C $d^{2+}$ increased 16-39% from 1 week to 3 weeks. C $d^{2+}$ + SA also inhibited 27% of Fv/Fm, but in case of C $d^{2+}$, Fv/Fm was not changed. The treatment of C $d^{2+}$ + SA showed about 37-58% inhibition of photosynthetic activity when measured at various light intensity (500-1000 $\mu$mol $m^{-2}$ $s^{-1}$ ). In the case of C $d^{2+}$ treatment, photosynthetic activity was inhibited to 12-15%. Similar effect was found in terms of stomatal conductance. Therefore, it could be concluded that the treatment of C $d^{2+}$ + SA into plant decrease or block various physiological activities and lend to die by double effects of both chemicals.cts of both chemicals..
