Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the accuracy of infrared temperature measurements compared to axillary temperature in order to detect fever in patients. Methods: Studies published between 1946 and 2012 from periodicals indexed in Ovid Medline, Embase, CINAHL, Cochrane, KoreaMed, NDSL, KERIS and other databases were selected using the following key words: "infrared thermometer". QUADAS-II was utilized to assess the internal validity of the diagnostic studies. Selected studies were analyzed through a meta-analysis using MetaDisc 1.4. Results: Twenty-one diagnostic studies with high methodological quality were included representing 3,623 subjects in total. Results of the meta-analysis showed that the pooled sensitivity, specificity, and area under the curve (AUC) of infrared tympanic thermometers were 0.73 (95% CI 0.70~0.75), 0.92 (95% CI 0.91~0.92), and 0.90, respectively. For axillary temperature readings, the pooled sensitivity was 0.67 (95% CI 0.62~0.73), the pooled specificity was 0.87 (95% CI 0.85~0.90), and the AUC was 0.80. Conclusion: Infrared tympanic temperature can predict axillary temperature in normothermic and in febrile patients with an acceptable level of diagnostic accuracy. However, further research is necessary to substantiate this finding in patients with hyperthermia.
Purpose: This study attempted to systematize a support system that can enhance teaching core competencies by establishing a scale for diagnosing teaching core competencies at University A. Research design, data and methodology : To this end, the first Delphi was conducted With six experts related to university core competency modeling research by extracting factors and designing structured questionnaires through a literature review process that collects and analyzes prior research related to domestic and foreign university teaching competency. The derived questions were diagnosed on 27 professors, and independent sample t-verification and ANOVA were conducted using SPSS 24.0 for analysis by key teaching competency factors. Result: What is the standard suitability of KMO. It was shown as 929 (KMO standard conformity value is close to 1), and Barlett's sphericity verification showed χ2=5773.295, df=1081, p<.It appeared as 001 and confirmed that it was suitable for conducting factor analysis. Conclusions: The core competencies of A University teachers were set based on the educational goals of A University, such as basic teaching competency, creative teaching competency, practical teaching competency, and communication teaching competency. This means that the concept and factors of the core competency of professors are likely to change, and in the end, continuous efforts to upgrade and apply research on core competency of professors are essential to quickly and organically respond to changes in competency required to increase the competitiveness of universities.
The gap-based SERVQUAL model is a popular service quality determinant due to its superior diagnostic capacity over alternative explanatory frameworks. However, some researchers criticize the performance of the SERVQUAL model and propose alternative service Quality measurement constructs. Nevertheless, it is argued that the superior diagnostic capacity of SERVQUAL is its key strength; and that any criticism made of it when making comparison with alternative models does not reflect the differing nature of scales of statistical analysis. Arguably, the only limitation of a gap-based model is misinterpretation of customers' evaluation and perception of a service. In this research, the gap score is transformed into a ratio score. Also, empirical tests and implications are presented to support this alternative contribution to the body of knowledge.
The morphology, taxonomy, and distribution of species belonging to the diatom family Rhizosoleniaceae were studied from the marine coastal waters of Korea. Rhizosolenid diatom taxa were collected at 30 sites from September 2008 to February 2010 and were analyzed by light and scanning electron microscopy. We identified 6 rhizosolenid genera, including Rhizosolenia, Proboscia, Pseudosolenia, Neocalyptrella, Guinardia, and Dactyliosolen. We describe 5 genera in this study, except Rhizosolenia. Five genera were compared in detail with congeneric species. Six genera within the family Rhizosoleniaceae were divided into two groups based on morphological diagnostic characters including valve shape, areolae pattern, the shape of external process, and girdle segments in the column. The first group had a conoidal valve and loculate areolae, which comprised Rhizosolenia, Proboscia, Pseudosolenia, and Neocalyptrella, and the second group of Guinardia and Dactyliosolen showed a flat or rounded valve and poroid areolae. Important key diagnostic characters were based on valve shape, areolae pattern on the segment, external process, position of the tube, and the valve margin. D. phuketensis was new to Korean coastal waters.
Glomus tumours are vascular hamartomas that are commonly found in the hand, particularly the subungual region. They appear as solitary or multiple tumours, and often present as a bluish discoloration of the nail plate. Different diagnostic tests are outlined, as well as imaging studies such as magnetic resonance imaging and ultrasound. Misdiagnosis and delayed diagnosis of these tumours are common, while a familial tendency is a potential risk factor but not yet proven. Complete surgical excision often results in complete symptomatic relief, while recurrences are largely due to incomplete excision or the growth of a new glomus tumour. This article aims to review the key aspects of glomus tumours and provide a diagnostic algorithm so that the lesion can be recognized and treated earlier.
This paper presents the hybrid type based expert system for fault diagnosis in transformers. The proposed system uses the novel fault diagnostic technique based on dissolved gas analysis(DGA) in oil-immersed transformers. The uncertainty of key gas analysis, norm threshold, and gas ratio boundaries are managed by using a fuzzy set. Also, the uncertainty of the fault diagnostic rules are handled by using fuzzy measures. Finally, kohnen's feature map performs fault classification in transformers. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed diagnosis technique, the hybrid type based expert system for fault diagnosis has been tested by using KEPCO's transformer gas records.
Mica, which have a good thermal and electrical characteristics, while will cleave easily at these layers. In order to bond mica materials soldily, mica/epoxy composite insulation materials were developed for generator stator winding. There are lots of problems such as delamination and partial discharge of these insulation materials caused by mechanical, electrical and thermal aging. Several experiments have been conducted in order to find the useful diagnostic parameters from the partial discharge phenomena by applying a new measurement techniques. this paper deals with the partial discharge pulse characteristics, which may be a useful diagnostic concept in predicting insulation condition of generator stator insulation materials. Long term insulation aging test shows that partial discharge phase angle an magnitude are identified as one of the main key techniques for insulation diagnosis on generator stator winding.

A graphical diagnostic method based on multiple case deletions in a regression context is introduced by using the sampling distribution of the difference between two least squares estimators with and without multiple cases. Principal components analysis plays a key role in deriving this diagnostic method. Multiple case deletions of test statistic are also considered when a new observation is fitted to a given regression model. The result is useful for detecting influential observations in econometric data analysis, for example in checking whether the consumption pattern at a later time is the same as the one found before or not, as well as for investigating the influence of cases in the usual regression model. An illustrative example is given.
Brucellosis is one of the most important zoonotic diseases that lead to a great amount of economic losses. Prevention and diagnosis are both necessary to eradicate this disease. The identification and evaluation of different antigens of Brucella spp. play a key role in the progress of diagnostic programs. In this study, we designed, produced, and evaluated a 24-kDa polypeptide containing antigenic epitopes of VirB2, 3, and 9 of Brucella abortus for use with the ELISA kit. The produced polypeptide is appropriate for diagnosing brucellosis in bovines by a laboratory diagnostic kit, with 100% sensitivity and 97.5% specificity.

Tongue diagnosis is one of the most important diagnostic methods in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Tongue image segmentation aims to extract the image object (i.e., tongue body), which plays a key role in the process of manufacturing an automated tongue diagnosis system. It is still challenging, because there exists the personal diversity in tongue appearances such as size, shape, and color. This paper proposes an innovative segmentation method that uses image thresholding, gray projection and active contour model (ACM). Specifically, an initial object region is first extracted by performing image thresholding in HSI (i.e., Hue Saturation Intensity) color space, and subsequent morphological operations. Then, a gray projection technique is used to determine the upper bound of the tongue body root for refining the initial object region. Finally, the contour of the refined object region is smoothed by ACM. Experimental results on a dataset composed of 100 color tongue images showed that the proposed method obtained more accurate segmentation results than other available state-of-the-art methods.
