  • Design methods for sequence flow controllers play an important role in industrial automation. To design a flexible, reusable, and maintainable control software has become a key issue nowadays. Petri net has been emerging as an important tool to provide an integrated solution for modeling, analysis, simulation, and control of industrial automated systems recently. This paper describes an international standard of programming languages for programmable logic controllers, IEC 1131-3 SFC( Sequential Function Chart), and the sequence flow control method for an SFC using a Petri net-like model.

Optimal Gating System Design of Escalator Step Die Casting Part by Using Taguchi Method (실험계획법에 의한 승강기용 구동부 주조품의 다이캐스팅 탕구방안 최적화)

  • In this study, a design of experiment, Taguchi method, was applied to optimize gating system design of escalator step die casting parts. Six shape factors which affect filling sequence of melt are adopted and divided into two levels respectively. Initial feeding differences of melt which were calculated by using S/N(signal-to-noise) ratio in each condition were demonstrated with the simulation of Flow-3D software program. Variations of S/N ratio according to shape factors were obtained and the optimal condition of gating system could also be obtained. It could be found that width of gate, contact angle of gate, thickness of runner are more effective factors on the filling sequence of melt than the others in this case of escalator step die casting parts. It showed that the economical gating system and sound filling sequence of melt were obtained by using Taguchi method.

  • Zero Cross-correlation Zone (ZCZ) code has a good performance in Multi-user CDMA system to get low correlation zone and reject co-channel interference. In this paper, we do analysis of spreading code design to obtain this kind of property of correlations with a complex spreading scheme and denote their effective performance for mobile communication system. In addition, a Jacket polyphase sequence is an example to show the improved performance and regular properties effective performance for mobile communication system.   • Sandwich panels consisting of various materials have widely been applied for mitigating dynamic impacts such as ballistic and blast impacts. Especially, the selection of materials for different core set-ups can directly influence its performance. In this study, we design the sandwich panels for alleviating ballistic and blast impacts by controlling the stacking sequence of core materials and their thicknesses. FEM studies are performed to simulate the dynamic behavior of sandwich panels subjected to ballistic and blast impacts. Delamination between the core layers is also considered in the FEM studies for feasible design. Based on the FEM data, kriging models are generated for approximating design space and quickly predicting the FEM outputs. Finally, design optimizations are implemented to find the optimum stacking sequence of core materials and thicknesses with given impact situations.

  • Fiber-reinforced composite laminates have high specific stiffness and strength and are expected to be useful for weight reduction in weight-sensitive industries, such as automotive and aerospace. However, designing composite laminates is often dependent on designer's experience and intuition because of difficulties in determining the number of plies and stacking sequence, which tends to lead to over-design. In this study, optimal design of composite laminates was performed to minimize weight, while withstanding the given load. Based on the enumeration method, all combinations of stacking sequence satisfying the design guideline for composite laminates were considered. Composite laminates were discretized into panels. Optimal number of plies and stacking sequence for each panel were determined considering local load on each panel and contiguity across adjacent panels. Failure index from Tsai-Wu criteria was optimized for strength and buckling analysis was performed for compressive load. Stacking angles of 0, ±45 and 90° were used.

  • Griffth's and LCCMA which are Single-user detection adaptive algorithm are proposed for mitigate MAI(multiple access interference) and the near-far problem in direct-sequence spread-spectrum CDMA system and MOE Algorithm is proposed for MMSE(Minimum Mean-Square Error). This paper pertains to three types of Blind adaptive algorithms which can upgrade system functionality without the requirements from training sequence. It goes further to compare and analyze the functionalities of the algorithms as per number of interfering users or data update rate of the users. The simulation results was that LCCMA algorithm was superior to other algorithms in both areas. Blind application enabled a more flexible network design by eliminating the necessity of training sequence.

  • The purpose of this thesis is to suggest objective basic data for the environmental design through the quantitative analysis of the visual quality included in the physical environment of Basemsagol valley sequence landscape. For this, visual volumes of physical elements have been evaluated by using the mesh analysis, spatial images structure of physical elements have been analyzed by factor analysis algorithm, and degree of visual quality have been measured mainly by questionnaires. Also, this study aims to understand semiotics and to grope the possibility of application to the sequence landscape assessment. A semiological approach suggests a new dimension in sequence landscape assessment, which is a contrast to the existing scientific evaluation methods. Result of this thesis can be summarized as follows. Visual volumes of the immediate vegetation, rock, bridge, road and distant vegetation are found to be the main factor determining the visual quality. Factors covering the spatial image of natural park sequence landscape have been found to be the overall synthetic evaluation, potentiality, natural quality, spatial, appeal and dignity. By using the control method for the number of factors, T.V. has been obtained as 40.22%. The characteristics of the semiological approach is qualitative, open, holistic, and experiential, whereas that of the scientific approach is quantitative, closed, reductive, and experimental.

  • Multipath ATM switch architectures have the potential to accommodate easily the design of high-speed and large capacity ATM switches which can handle a very large amount of switching throughputs. However, the multipath architecture inevitably encounters out-of-sequence problems. We propose a multipath switch model to analyze the out-of-sequence phenomenon. And we analyze the out-of-sequence performance dependency on the architecture parameters : the number of multipath, the trunk utilization, the switch size, and the number virtual channels/trunk. DNA Sequence Design using $\varepsilon$ -Multiobjective Evolutionary Algorithm ($\varepsilon$-다중목적함수 진화 알고리즘을 이용한 DNA 서열 디자인)

  • Recently, since DNA computing has been widely studied for various applications, DNA sequence design which is the most basic and important step for DNA computing has been highlighted. In previous works, DNA sequence design has been formulated as a multi-objective optimization task, and solved by elitist non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA-II). However, NSGA-II needed lots of computational time. Therefore, we use an $\varepsilon$- multiobjective evolutionarv algorithm ($\varepsilon$-MOEA) to overcome the drawbacks of NSGA-II in this paper. To compare the performance of two algorithms in detail, we apply both algorithms to the DTLZ2 benchmark function. $\varepsilon$-MOEA outperformed NSGA-II in both convergence and diversity, $70\%$ and $73\%$ respectively. Especially, $\varepsilon$-MOEA finds optimal solutions using small computational time. Based on these results, we redesign the DNA sequences generated by the previous DNA sequence design tools and the DNA sequences for the 7-travelling salesman problem (TSP). The experimental results show that $\varepsilon$-MOEA outperforms the most cases. Especially, for 7-TSP, $\varepsilon$-MOEA achieves the comparative results two tines faster while finding $22\%$ improved diversity and $92\%$ improved convergence in final solutions using the same time.

  • An optimization procedure is proposed for the design of cylindrically laminated composite shell having midplane symmetry and subjected to axial force, torsion and internal pressure. Tsai-Wu and Tsai-Hill failure criteria are taken as objective functions. The stacking sequence represents the design variable. The optimal design formulation based on state space method is adopted and solution proccedure is described with the emphasis on the method of calculations of the design sensitivities. A gradient projection algorithm is employed for the optimization process. Numerical results are presented for the several test problems.
