In Japan, apartment housing occupies a great proportion of residence due to high population density like Korea. Although Korea and Japan are similar in big proportions of apartment housing, and apartment housing management systems and utilization behaviors, there are considerable differences. This paper examined Japanese public facilities and the status of public facility management and utilization, which differ from those in Korea. In order to analyze the status of public facilities from a perspective of management companies, a preliminary survey was conducted targeting apartment management companies in the top 100 and a field study on public facilities was conducted targeting chief directors and managers of individual housing facilities to look into public facility utilization methods, problems with public facility management, demands of residents, and utilization situations. Also, the present state of facility utilization and utilization promotion plans were investigated, based on the drawings of facilities collected. As the result, results were found in three respects; 'elements, related to building plans', 'elements, related to utilization promotion', and 'elements, related to facility remodeling, including changes of uses'. In relation to the use of public facilities in the future, a more active communication between managers and users would be needed for planning. Also, there would be a need to provide public facilities for visitors when there are events for both occupants and visitors in order to promote the use of facilities and management companies would have to share information of excellent facility models.

This study explores the causes and processes of morphological transformation of apartment complexes in Busan. All apartment complexes built until the year 2016 were selected for statistical analysis, drawing/map examination, field observation, selected expert interviews based on 6 periodical groups: Period I(~1990), Period II(1991~1995), Period III(1996~2000), Period IV(2001~2005), Period V(2006~2010), and Period VI(2011~2016). The research argues for three 'arrangement' types, P1U, L1U and P2U, which have dominated the whole periods occupying 88% of the total 260 complexes. The switch of the leading type represents for morphological transformation of apartment complexes. Four aspects, density(F.A.R.), height(maximum number of floors), deformed-building-type ratio, and building-orientation, have affected the change of 'arrangement' types. Density was the major cause of the arrangement-type switch, from P1U to L1U, on Period II(1991~1995). The morphological change, from type L1U to P2U, on Period V(2006~2010) was caused by height and orientation, and is correlated with the increased number of deformed-type buildings. The first phase morphological change on Period II(1991~1995) was resulted by the supply side of apartment. However, the second phase transformation on Period V(2006~2010) had gone through the complex process including reflection of consumers' demands. The significance of research is to reveal the morphological transformation process of apartment complexes through analytical investigation of the entire apartment data in Busan. The result shows that the major change of urban paysage started to occur from Period V(2006~2010), and the superficial evaluation on apartment 'being monotonous and repetitive' may not be proper at least from the perspective of town plan.

In recent years, there has been a demand for a residential supply model that can actively and flexibly cope with various housing demands in the changing paradigm of public rental housing. This study focuses on the two-step supply system that has been studied in Japan. It was used to examine and analyze cases to recommend a supply plan that can be used for domestic public rental housing. In more detail, the literature review of the two-step supply system discloses that four types by supply methods (A-1, A-2, B-2, and C-2) and four types of relationship (construction and management combine entities type, management entity type, construction entity type, a separated entity type) can be categorized. In addition, from the actual case study, it revealed that the way of linking and supplying activities among the entity can have a great influence on "ease of supply (supply)", "diversity of housing demand (diversity)," and "quality of construction (construction)". "Ease of supply (supply)" refers to whether the construction entity is separated, and the owner is a manager. "Diversity" refers to whether the management subject is separated, and if the owner is also the constructor or the manager. "Construction" is whether the management entity is connected and managed by the management entity and can be evaluated in "Good", "Middle", and "Bad" level. As a summary, even if the existing public rental housing in Korea can be separated into a skeleton and infill system, the result suggested that it has a limitation on response to residential demand. In addition, the paper was able to propose an improved plan to make the infill as a secondary operator.

With the advent of the ubiquitous era due to the development of science and technology in the modern society, interest in data generated in the IoT environment has increased socially. However, the existing IoT platform has difficulties in processing inquiry requests that require large amounts of throughput, such as statistical processing of large amounts of data. Accordingly, in this paper, we propose an IoT platform that can flexibly accommodate requirements for inquiry requests and improve inquiry performance. The platform proposed in this paper showed a performance improvement of about 1200 times in terms of average response time by introducing a separate read database. By separating the object model into a command side and a query side, the complexity of the object is reduced to meet the various demands on the platform. It was made to allow quick acceptance of the matter.

With the development of online education due to COVID-19, the EduTech market, which combines new technologies such as AI and AR/VR in education is rapidly growing. In addition, the children's industry is steadily growing despite the decreasing birth rate every year as more and more families with one child per household are investing in their children. However, supply of contents to EduTech market is slow compared to demands that are increasing. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to help solve these problems by developing and supporting AR kids contents with convenience, practicality, and efficiency using AR technology. AR content for supporting vocabulary learning for infants is not just an end to watching and listening, but an observation-driven model that can manipulate content directly, which attracts children's interest and helps children learn words. This paper is intended for infants from 15 months to 36 months old when full-fledged language development occurs.
Domestically, demands for multi-purpose performance venues which accommodate various performance genres have increased. However, those venues have limited capability and confined to a primary performance. The present work investigated various methods for controlling the acoustics of room for required performance genres by reviewing aurally presented and published materials. The method of varying the acoustics of a space is called Variable Acoustics, and adjusted in either passive and active ways. Passive control encompasses variable absorption, variable volume, coupled volume, and canopy reflectors, where the acoustics of a room is controlled in an architectural way. Active control includes In-line, Regenerative, and Hybrid systems where the acoustics of a room is manipulated electronically. The mechanism and application of each passive control system in existing venues are reviewed and their pros and cons are discussed. Also, the concept of each active systems and product applications are looked at through literature reviews. Lastly, some considerations that need to be taken into in the planning and design stage of a multi-purpose hall using Variable Acoustics are suggested.

The purpose of this study was to review literature about private health insurance (PHI) schemes for Korean older adults published in Korea and abroad from 2015 to 2019, and to present the implications of the study and provide an overview of PHI utilization by Korean older adults. Nineteen quantitative academic research papers were selected and analyzed with respect to presentation time, research purpose, data source, and study design. Old age, low income, low education, and chronic disease were found to hinder enrollment in PHI schemes. Although the relationship between PHI and medical usage was not consistent, it was positively related to health outcomes such as subjective health status and health-related quality of life. Therefore, for PHI to fulfill the role of providing supplementary medical care for older adults with high medical demands, a national improvement policy should be developed to address the barriers that prevent older adults adopting PHI schemes, and empirical studies related to medical usages by and the health outcomes of older adults should be conducted in order to generate a basis for the use of PHI.
From the economic development perspective, economic growth should accompany structural improvement in order to meet complex demands from a society. In the context of development economics, economic growth is critically dependent on successful structural advancement. The issue of structural change is also important for advanced economies as the landscape of modern industry is changing fast. Many advanced countries of slow growth are experiencing dawdling changes in industry structure. However, there is no definitive answer to the question of whether there is a causal relationship between structural change and growth. This study empirically assesses the relationship between structural change or 'speed' thereof and economic growth in developed countries of OECD. Rather than looking into the causes of structural changes, this study simply measures structural changes in OECD economies and examines if structural change is really contributing to growth. The reason why this study focuses on advanced countries of OECD is rather obvious; technological innovation and emergence of new industries pressure these countries to restructure their economies to address these new challenges though they are at stages well beyond conventional industrialization. And structural rigidity can always limit growth even in advanced countries. The main results of this study can be summarized as a positive relationship between 'change and growth'. 'Change' in this study refers to changes in the industrial structure based on value-added and was analyzed to have a close positive relationship with economic growth. This result is consistent with arguments of early development economists emphasizing structural upgrade as an indispensable process for growth and development. The result of this study potentially confirms that the main argument of development economics is valid also for advanced economies. One of our results suggests that business/professional services and social services should be main targets for restructuring for advanced economies. The rational may be that rapid convergence of manufacturing and services is a key for structural advancement in the era of new technologies. Obviously, as manufacturing technology and production are standardized, it is difficult to secure international competitiveness through traditional manufacturing alone and the role of R&D, design, logistics, and marketing is becoming more important.
A forecast of slope behavior during catastrophic events, such as earthquakes is crucial to recognize the risk of slope failure. This paper endeavors to eliminate the significant supposition of predefined slip surfaces in the slope stability analysis, which questions the relevance of simple conventional methods under seismic conditions. To overcome such limitations, a methodology dependent on the slip line hypothesis, which permits an automatic generation of slip surfaces, is embraced to trace the extreme slope face under static and seismic conditions. The effect of earthquakes is considered using the pseudo-static approach. The current outcomes developed from a parametric study endorse a non-linear slope surface as the extreme profile, which is in accordance with the geomorphological aspect of slopes. The proposed methodology is compared with the finite element limit analysis to ensure credibility. Through the design charts obtained from the current investigation, the stability of slopes can be assessed under seismic conditions. It can be observed that the extreme slope profile demands a flat configuration to endure the condition of the limiting equilibrium at a higher level of seismicity. However, a concurrent enhancement in the shear strength of the slope medium suppresses this tendency by offering greater resistance to the seismic inertial forces induced in the medium. Unlike the traditional linear slopes, the extreme slope profiles mostly exhibit a steeper layout over a significant part of the slope height, thus ensuring a more optimized solution to the slope stability problem. Further, the susceptibility of the Longnan slope failure in the Huining-Wudu seismic belt is predicted using the current plasticity approach, which is found to be in close agreement with a case study reported in the literature. Finally, the concept of equivalent single or multi-tiered planar slopes is explored through an example problem, which exhibits the appropriateness of the proposed non-linear slope geometry under actual field conditions.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to identify factors influencing communication satisfaction between geriatric caregivers and older adults in urban-rural complex communities. The ultimate goal was to design local community educational programs and policies to enhance communication satisfaction among geriatric caregivers and improve the quality of care services for older adults. Methods: To identify factors influencing communication satisfaction between elderly caregivers and older adults, a survey titled "CCEP: Assessment of Communication Status between Elderly Care Service Providers and Recipients" was conducted from February to July 2020, focusing on rural-urban complex areas. The survey was administered based on providers of elderly healthcare services. The survey targeted 131 respondents involved in providing care services for older adults. The dependent variable of this study was the communication satisfaction reported by elderly caregivers in their interactions with the elderly. The independent variables included perceptions of older adults, factors associated with communication difficulties, and communication efforts. Additionally, gender, working environment, working experience, and the proportion of face-to-face interactions with older adults during caregiving were controlled for the hierarchical multiple regression analysis. Results: The analysis revealed that communication efforts with older adults significantly influenced communication satisfaction (β=.09, p<0.01). However, perceptions of the elderly and communication hindrance factors did not have a significant impact on communication satisfaction among geriatric caregivers. Conclusion: Effective communication between geriatric caregivers and older adults is crucial for identifying and meeting the needs and demands of caregiving services, and it plays a vital role in overall caregiving service satisfaction. To enhance communication skills and satisfaction among geriatric caregivers and ensure the appropriate fulfillment of elderly care needs in the local community, the development of community-centered, specialized health communication programs and other initiatives will be necessary in the future.
