  • According to the price-decline effect, the art auction prices are known to decrease with the order of auction sale. Our empirical study investigates the presence for the price-decline effect using the data for Korean antique art hosted by the Seoul Auction in September, 2015. We apply the Hedonic price model to the data and examine the relation between the sale order and auction price. Our empirical evidences show that the well-known price decline effect is not present for the case of Korean antique auction in 2015. We confirm our results by estimating the ordered probit model. From the view of the price-decline effect, our results suggest that the Korean antique auction data exhibits different characteristics from most of the foreign art auction data.

  • This study was to apply FLC(Fashion Life Cycle) concept with extended PLC(Product Life Cycle) theory of marketing for a basis. This article was particularly analyzed relations between demographic variables and fashion lifestyle toward consumer's behavior at decline stage of FLC empirical study was to target women's formal dress. Data were collected from the adult females residing in Youngnam district. Sampling were peformed pretest and main survey. Total 386pcs of answers were used for final analysis. The results of analysis were as follows. First, Hypothesis 1 & 4 were showed meaningful differences between fashion lifestyle patterns and consumer's behavior at decline stage of FLC according to demographic characteristics. Second, Hypothesis 2 also was adopted meaningful differences of consumer's hoarding behavior at decline stage of FLC in accordance with fashion lifestyle patterns. Third, Hypothesis 3 of fashion lifestyle patterns which has related consumer's recycling behavior at decline stage of FLC was rejected. In conclusion, This article discusses implication of fashion marketing strategies and summaries..

  • This paper attempts to account for the recent decline in the share of 'regular employees' among total employees. It finds, among other things, that the decline which began in 1993 is not associated with the changes in the composition of the worker groups that have differing tendency to work as regular employees. Overall, the decline in the share of regular employment is mainly due to the workers' increased transition probability out of 'regular employment', with the exception of the younger workers for whom the decrease in the rate of entry into 'regular employment' has also been an important reason of such a decline.

  • Background and Purpose: Prospective memory (PM) has a known relationship with frontal function, and PM decline has been observed in amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI). Cerebral small vessel disease, as evidenced by white matter hyperintensities (WMHs), is linked to frontal dysfunction. This study was undertaken to evaluate the relationship between PM decline and WMHs in patients with aMCI. Methods: Of 74 enrollees with aMCI, 69 completed this prospective study. We compared total scores and sub-scores of the Prospective and Retrospective Memory Questionnaire (PRMQ) administered at baseline and 3 months later, stratifying patients by degree of WMHs. Results: A significant decline was seen in PRMQ total scores and PM scores at the 3-month mark in patients with moderate (vs. mild) degrees of WMHs ($-2.8{\pm}7.2$ vs. $0.2{\pm}7.1$; p=0.032). In addition, patients with moderate (vs. mild) degrees of deep WMHs (DWMHs) showed greater PM decline, whereas PM loss in patients with mild, moderate, or severe degrees of periventricular WMHs (PVWMHs) did not differ significantly. Conclusions: Findings of this study indicate that the burden of WMHs is consistently implicated in PM deterioration experienced by patients with aMCI, and signifies greater PM decline, especially in instances of extensive DWMHs. Greater attention to the change of PM is therefore needed in aMCI patients with WMHs.

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to analyze the cost behavior of firms, taking into account both high R&D intensity and situations in which R&D activities are likely to be performed efficiently. Design/methodology/approach - During the sample period from 2002 to 2019, regression analysis is conducted on the manufacturing firms with December fiscal year listed on KOSDAQ. The degree of R&D expenditure was measured by R&D intensity. The efficient R&D situation is measured as the decline stage firms in the KOSDAQ market, which are relatively smaller than the KOSPI market. Findings - Firms in the decline phase and high R&D intensity showed the cost stickiness. Because these firms anticipate an optimistic future, they do little to cut current costs even if their current sales decrease. Research implications or Originality - Firstly, it is confirmed that both the extent of R&D expenditure and the situation in which R&D will be effectively performed are important in the study of cost behavior. Secondly, we present a new perspective on strategy research that favors the use of cost advantage strategy related to cost anti-stickiness for the decline firms.

  • This paper presents musculotendon model to show the decline in muscle force during functional electrical stimulation (FES). It represent muscle activation and contraction concepts including muscle fatigue. A muscle fatigue term in activation dynamics as a function of the intracellular acidification and the pulsewidth of stimulation pulses change activation to decline muscle force. The computer simulation shows that muscle force decline in stimulation time.

  • Korean footwear industry has experienced rapid growth and decline during last 30 years. The purpose of this paper is to analyse the main reason for the decline of Korean footwear industry by examining the process of technological learning which Korean footwear firms experienced during last 30 years of OEM. Before this analysis is done, innovation patterns of world footwear industry is sketched to compare with those of Korean footwear industry. On the basis of the analysis on the reasons for decline, I suggest some policy recommendations.

  • This study deals with the relation between traffic accident and urban decline. The purpose of this study is to develop the regional accident models of elderly drivers. In order to develop the count data models, 2009-2015 traffic accident data from TAAS(traffic accident analysis system) and urban decline data from urban regeneration information system are collected. The main results are as follows. First, the null hypothesis that there is no difference in the accident number between elderly and non-elderly drivers is rejected. Second, 8 accident models which are all statistically significant have been developed. Finally, common variables between elderly and non-elderly are ratio of elderly people, elderly person living alone/1,000 persons and wholesale/retail employments/1,000 persons. This study could be expected to give many implications to making regional accident reduction policy.

  • Objectives This study is to investigate the effect of sasang constitutional medicine on the delirium and cognitive decline caused by traumatic subarachnoid hemorrhage in a soeumin alzheimer patient Methods We have treated a 79-year-old Soeumin patient mainly with Doksampalmul-tang. She was already suffering from Alzheimer's disease. After traumatic subarachnoid hemorrhage, there were symptoms of delirium and cognitive decline. The degree of improvement was checked by K-MMSE and K-MOCA scores. Results The K-MMSE score improved from 0 to 11 and the K-MOCA score from 0 to 3. Conclusions Sasang constitutional medicine has been effective in the treatment of delirium and cognitive decline caused by traumatic subarachnoid hemorrhage.

  • This study is to investigate that population change as a result of the decline in population has a correlation with a decrease in crime, with the change in the demographic composition by comparing with two models: model with growth in population and one with the decline in population. We collected demographic data for all cities in Korea from the 2010 Census to 2020 offered by the Korean Statistical Information Service, with crime data comprising serious reported crime events from the Korean Nation Police Agency through requesting data related to the total number of crimes at the same as the period of demographic data. This study can identify the impacts of demographic changes as a result of population change on crime change through a comparative analysis between areas with population growth and ones with population decline. We can confirm that there are differences in determinants of crime between areas with population increase and one with population decrease from the analysis of the impact of demographic change as a result of population change on crime change.
