  • The meeds of vehicle navigation system are increassing and the accurate determination of position is still of promary improtance. GPS (Global Positioning System)receiver and low cost dead reckoning sensors have been used for vehicle position location. The integartion of these can improve the system performance to cope with accumulating errors and multipath problem in urban area. However, the implementation of integrated system of two sensors is net easy, for their real data ave noises that are not apt to be modeled. This paper discusses how to combine a GPS receiver and dead reckoning sensors. The characteriatics of sensors and their data are investigated, and the system for field test is manufactured. The test results of a selected typical route are presented.

  • A simple and effective dead time compensation scheme for a PWM inverter-fed permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive using the model reference adaptive control (MRAC) and coordinate transformation is presented. The basic concept is to first transform a time-varying disturbance caused by the dead time and inverter nonlinearity into unknown constant or slowly-varying one by the coordinate transformation, and then use the MRAC design technique to estimate this parameter in the stationary reference frame. Since the MRAC scheme is a suitable way of estimating such a parameter, the control performance can be significantly improved as compared with the conventional observer-based method tracking time-varying parameters. In the proposed scheme, the disturbance voltage caused by the dead time is effectively estimated and compensated by on-line basis without any additional circuits nor existing disadvantages as in the conventional methods. The asymptotic stability is proved and the effectiveness of the proposed scheme is verified.

  • This study demonstrated that cryopreserved semen from dead fish can be used for seedling production. Yellow croakers, Larimichthys polyactis, were killed and stored at temperatures of $20^{\circ}C$ or $0^{\circ}C$ for 6 hours. At 2 hour intervals, semen from these fish was collected using abdominal pressure and evaluated for spermatozoa motility and semen cryopreservation. Semen collected after 6 hours from dead fish stored at $0^{\circ}C$ could be cryopreserved and attained fertilization and hatching rates of $15.0{\pm}1.2%$ and $14.8{\pm}1.6%$, respectively. This study suggests that germ cells such as the semen of dead fish can be cryopreserved and utilized in the restoration of a species.

  • A new on-line dead-time compensation method for a permanent magnet (PM) synchronous motor drive is proposed. Using a simple disturbance observer without any additional circuit and off-line experimental measurement, disturbance voltages in the synchronous reference dq frame caused by the dead time and non-ideal switching characteristics of power devices are estimated in an on-line manner and fed to voltage references in order to compensate the dead-time effects. The proposed method is applied to a PM synchronous motor drive system and implemented by using software of a digital signal processor (DSP) TMS320C31. Simulations and experiments are carried out for this system and the results well demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

When the battery voltage is not satisfied with the minimum value.turn on the Dead Battery Starter switch, and the Dead Battery Starter supplies the control power to the SIV controller from the line voltage. With this Dead Battery Starter system, the train can be operated when the battery is not proper status. Dead Battery Starter is designed by ROTEM and will be delivered to Attiko Metro Series 2.

  • Voltage source inverters are required dead time to prevent the short current in the dc link. In recent years, the dead time effect has been investigated in many literatures. This paper presents on the novel space vector PWM inverter without dead time. The proposed inverter don't need to sense load current and to calculate for dead time compensation. Transformers are inserted each leg in the proposed inverter. The proposed method is analyzed each mode and then the simulation results verify the proposed method.

  • The Nyquist robust stability margin is proposed as a measure of robust stability for systems with Affine TFM(Transfer Function Matrix) parametric uncertainty. The parametric uncertainty is modeled through a Affine TFM MIMO (Multi-Input Multi-Output) description with dead-time, and the unstructured uncertainty through a bounded perturbation of Affine polynomials. Gershgorin's theorem and concepts of diagonal dominance and GB(Gershgorin Bands) are extended to include model uncertainty. Multiloop PI/PID controllers can be tuned by using a modified version of the Ziegler-Nichols (ZN) relations. Consequently, this paper provides sufficient conditions for the robustness of Affine TFM MIMO uncertain systems with dead-time based on Rosenbrock's DNA. Simulation examples show the performance and efficiency of the proposed multiloop design method for Affine uncertain systems with dead-time.

  • This study proposes a dead-time implementation method suitable for cell voltage control of a cascaded H-bridge (CHB) inverter. The PWM module of an existing microcontroller cannot generate a maximum voltage due to the dead-time effect when used as the cell controller of the CHB inverter. In the proposed method, the operation method of the PWM module was changed without using the dead time module included in the existing microcontroller, so that the cell output voltage can be increased to the maximum voltage without voltage discontinuity. During the maximum voltage generation period, the full turn-on state can be maintained without unnecessary switching. The validity of the proposed method is confirmed through an experiment.

  • For navigation of a mobile robot, it is one of the essential tasks to find out its current position. Dead reckonining is the most frequently used method to estimate its position. Hpwever conventional dead reckoner is prone to give us false information on the robot position especially when the wheels are slipping. This paper proposes an improved dead reckoning scheme using neural networks. The network detects the instance of wheel slopping and estimates the linear velocity of the wheel; thus it calculates current position and heading angle of a mobile robot. The structure and variables of the nerual network are chosen in consideration of slip motion characteristics. A series of experiments are performed to train the networks and to investigate the performance of the improved dead reckoning system.

Spatial Pattern of Larix gmelini in a Spruce-fir Valley Forest of Xiaoxing'an Mountains, China

  • On the basis of vegetation data in the 9.12 ha (380 m ${\times}$ 240 m) permanent sample plot of the spruce-fir valley forest in Liangshui National Reserve of Xiaoxing'an Mountains, the study was conducted to evaluate spatial distribution pattern and spatial association by using point pattern analysis for living and dead trees of Larix gmelini by DBH size class. The number of L. gmelini were counted as 59 living stems/ha (6.42 $m^2$/ha of basal area) and 34 dead stems/ha (2.86 $m^2$/ha of basal area). The distributional curve of diameter class exhibited bimodal shape. The analysis of spatial distribution patterns of all living larch stems noted the clumped distribution on the whole. The size of larch aggregates of dead stems was decreased as diameter class was increased. The distribution of dead stems became gradually randomized with decreased clumped size as the scale increased. Living stems and dead stems of the larch had positive spatial association at most of scales, illustrating that the occurrence of mortality of the larch tree was closely related to the distribution pattern of living larch trees.
