  • The combination of voltage feedforward and feedback control is a conventional approach for correcting the power factor in single-phase ac-dc boost converters. The feedback duty ratio increases significantly with an increase of the line frequency and input inductance. Therefore, the performance of the conventional approach is highly dependent on the bandwidth of the feedback controller. As a result, the input power quality can be significantly exacerbated due to uncompensated duty ratios if the feedback controller is limited. This paper proposes an input impedance and current feedforward control method to reduce the control portion of the feedback controller. The findings in this paper are 1) the theoretical derivation and analysis of variations of line frequency and input inductance on a power factor correction approach, 2) guaranteed consistent performance in a wide range of conditions, and 3) that a low switching frequency can be utilized by the proposed method. A MATLAB/Simulink model and a 1.2kW dual boost converter are built to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • In this paper, it has been proposed the simultaneous control of PFC (power factor corrector) and electronic ballast for fluorescent lamp by one chip micro-controller. Boost DC-DC converter is adopted for PFC, and half bridge inverter for electronic ballast. It controls, simultaneously and independently, the boost DC-DC converter and the half bridge inverter. As PFC and electronic ballast are controlled by one chip micro-controller, it is possible to achieve the simpler and the cheaper controller for fluorescent lamp. Experimental results have shown the feasibility of the proposed simultaneous control of PFC and electronic ballast by one chip micro-controller.

  • In this paper, a three phase PWM AC to DC boost converter that operates with unity power factor and sinusodial input currents si presented. The current control of the converter is based on the space vector PWM strategy with fixed switching frequency and the imput current tracks the reference current within one sampling time interval. Space vector PWM strategy for current control was materialized as a digital control method by using DSP. By using this control strategy low ripples in the output voltage, low harmonics in the input current and fast dynamic responses are achieved with a small capacitance in the dc link.

  • In this paper, we proposed the Z-source four-switch three-phase rectifier. As we know, the conventional Four-Switch Three-Phase Rectifier(FSTPR) has advantages of the lower cost and less complex switching control. However, The conventional FSTPR can only either perform buck or boost operation, it can only attain the buck-boost operation by adding another DC-DC converter. In addition, besides its narrow output voltage region, distortion of the input current is serious either. Thus, we proposed the Z-source FSTPR which has buck-boost function and better input current waveform by applying the Z-impedance network to the conventional FSTPR. The validity of the proposed system was confirmed by experiments.

  • Previous AC/DC PFC Boost Converter perceives feed forward signal of input and feedback signal of output for average current-mode control. Previous Boost Converter, the quantity of input current will be decreased by the decrease of output current in light load, and also power factor comes to be decreased. Also the efficiency of converter will be decreased by the decrease of power factor. The proposed converter presents the good PFC(Power Factor Correction), low line current hormonic distortions and tight output voltage regulations using non-dissipative snubber. The proposed converter also has a high efficiency by non-dissipative snubber circuit. To show the superiority of this converter is verified through the experiment with a 640W, 100kHz prototype converter.

  • This paper proposes a single-phase bidirectional AC/DC converter topology applied in V2G systems, which consists of an inverter and a bidirectional non-inverting buck-boost converter. This topology can operate in four modes: buck charging, boost charging, buck discharging and boost discharging with high input current quality and unity input power factor. The inverter switches at line frequency, which is different from conventional voltage source inverters. A bidirectional buck-boost converter is utilized to adapt to a wider charging voltage range. The modulation and control strategy is introduced in detail, and the switching patterns are optimized to reduce the current ripple. In addition, the semiconductor losses are analyzed. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate the validity and effectiveness of the proposed topology.

  • In this paper, a model predictive voltage control (MPVC) for the DC-DC buck-boost converters is proposed. It provides a fast seamless bidirectional control method to maintain the DC grid voltage, battery voltage and current within predefined limits. In addition, an inner current control loop is not employed, so that the bandwidth of controller can be higher compared with the PI controller.

  • This paper proposes a novel current-based maximum power point tracking (CMPPT) method for a single-phase photovoltaic power conditioning system (PV PCS) by using a modified incremental conductance method. The CMPPT method simplifies the entire control structure of the power conditioning system and uses an inherent current source characteristic of solar cell arrays. Therefore, it exhibits robust and fast response under a rapidly changing environmental condition. Digital phase locked loop technique using an all-pass filter is also introduced to detect the phase of grid voltage, as well as the peak voltage. Controllers of dc/dc boost converter, dc-link voltage, and dc/ac inverter are designed for coordinated operation. Furthermore, a current control using a pseudo synchronous d-q transformation is employed for grid current control with unity power factor. A 3 kW prototype PV PCS is built, and its experimental results are given to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control schemes.

  • In order to correct the power boost topology has been used for easy control. But conventional boost topology has the following drawbacks: switching voltage surge, cross conduction current and right-half-plane zero of its control transfer function. Furthermore, in this topology the output voltage is always higher than the input voltage. As a result, a first-stage boost PFC converter needs to be connected with a second-stage DC-DC converter. A new topology which can be used as single stage PFC converter is proposed in this paper.
