Development of Terra MODIS data pre-processing system on WWW

  • Terra MODIS is one of the few space-borne sensors currently capable of acquiring radiometric data over the range of view angles. Institute of Industrial Science, University of Tokyo, has been receiving Terra MODIS data at Tokyo since May 2001 and Asian Institute of Technology at Bangkok since May 2001. They can cover whole East Asia and is expected to monitor environmental changes regularly such as deforestation, forest fires, floods and typhoon. Over eight hundred scenes have been archived in the storage system and they occupy 2 TB of disk space so far. In this study, MODIS data processing system on WWW is developed including following functions: spectral subset (250m, 500m, 1000m channels), radiometric correction to radiance, spatial subset of geocoded data as a rectangular area with latitude-longitude grid system in HDF format, generation of a quick look file in JPEG format. Users will be notified just after all the process have finished via e-mail. Using this system enables us to process MODIS data on WWW with a few input parameters and download the processed data by FTP access. An easy to use interface is expected to promote the use of MODIS data. This system is available via the Internet on the following URL from September 1 2002, "http : //webmodis.iis.u-tokyo.ac.jp/".

  • As the capacity of the 3d scanner developed, the reverse engineering using the 3d scanner is emphasized in the construction industry to obtain the 3d geometric representation of buildings. However, big size of the indoor point cloud data acquired by the 3d scanner restricts the efficient process in the reverse engineering. In order to solve this inefficiency, several pre-processing methods simplifying and denoising the raw point cloud data by the rough standard are developed, but these non-standard methods can cause the inaccurate recognition and removal the key-points. This paper analyzes the correlation between the accuracy of wall recognition and the density of the data, thus proposes the proper method for the raw point cloud data. The result of this study could improve the efficiency of the data processing phase in the reverse engineering for indoor point cloud data.

생체신호 처리를 위한 시스템 개발 (Development of Data Acquistion and Processing System for the Analysis of Biophysiological signal)

  • 생체신호 측정 및 처리에 있어서 GUI(graphic user interface)를 도입, 개인용 컴퓨터에서 실현가능한 신호처리 시스템을 구현하였다. 전치증폭장치에서 입력된 신호를 A/D converter로 처리, RS-232C 통신방식으로 개인용 컴퓨터에 전송 저장한 후, 이를 Windows환경에서 사용할 수 있도록 Visual basic으로 programming하였으며, DPS(digital signal processing)루틴에서 digital filtering, FFT처리 등의 신호처리 및 신호해석을 위한 연산과정을 실행하여 화면과 프린트로 출력 되도록 하였다. 본 연구를 통해서 일예로 heart-rate variability에 적용하였으며, 전치증폭회로 및 시스템 설계에 요구되는 하드웨어와 소프트웨어를 소개하고, 그 출력형태를 나타내었다 이러한 방식은 임상분야에서 개인용 컴퓨터를 이용하여 손쉽게 데이타를 입출력 하므로서 동물실험이나 실제 임상에 적용할 수 있으며, 이러한 시스템의 폭넓고 유용한 활용을 위해서는 신호모델에 대한 최적화 계수 추출, 잡음제거, 해석 및 처리결과를 위한 데이타를 가공하는 연산 소프트웨어 개발의 지속적 연구가 필요할 것으로 보인다.

  • 본 연구에서는 항내 파고를 신속하고 비교적 정확하게 예측할 수 있는 딥러닝 모델을 구축하였다.다양한 머신러닝 기법들을 외해파랑의 항내로 전파 변형 특성을 감안하여 모델에 적용하였으며 스웰로 인해 하역중단 문제가 심각했던 포항신항을 모델적용 대상지로 선정하였다. 모델의 입력 자료는 외해의 파고, 주기, 파향 그리고 출력 및 예측 자료로는 항내 파고자료로 하여 모델을 학습시켰다. 이때 자료의 전처리 과정으로 항내·외 파랑 시계열자료의 상관성을 감안하여 파향 자료를 분리하는 방법을 적용하고 딥러닝 기법을 이용하여 모델을 학습하였다. 결과적으로 모델을 통해 예측한 값이 항내관측치의 파고 시계열자료를 잘 재현하였으며 모델의 안정성을 크게 향상시켰다.

A 32-Gb/s Inductorless Output Buffer Circuit with Adjustable Pre-emphasis in 65-nm CMOS

  • Optical communication systems are rapidly spread following increases in data traffic. In this work, a 32-Gb/s inductorless output buffer circuit with adjustable pre-emphasis is proposed. The proposed circuit consists of an output buffer circuit and an emphasis circuit. The emphasis circuit emphasizes the high frequency components and adds the characteristics of the output buffer circuit. We proposed a design method using a small-signal equivalent-circuit model and designed the compensation characteristics with a 65-nm CMOS process in detail using HSPICE simulation. We also realized adjustable emphasis characteristics by controlling the voltage. To confirm the advantages of the proposed circuit and the design method, we fabricated an output buffer IC with adjustable pre-emphasis. We measured the jitter and eye height with a 32-Gb/s input using the IC. Measurement results of double-emphasis showed that the jitter was 14% lower, and the eye height was 59% larger than single-emphasis, indicating that our proposed configuration can be applied to the design of an output buffer circuit for higher operation speed.

강아지 행동 분석을 위한 YOLOv4 기반의 실시간 객체 탐지 및 트리밍 (YOLOv4-based real-time object detection and trimming for dogs' activity analysis)

  • In a previous work we have done, we presented a monitoring system to automatically detect some dogs' behaviors from videos. However, the input video data used by that system was pre-trimmed to ensure it contained a dog only. In a real-life situation, the monitoring system would continuously receive video data, including frames that are empty and ones that contain people. In this paper, we propose a YOLOv4-based system for automatic object detection and trimming of dog videos. Sequences of frames trimmed from the video data received from the camera are analyzed to detect dogs and people frame by frame using a YOLOv4 model, and then records of the occurrences of dogs and people are generated. The records of each sequence are then analyzed through a rule-based decision tree to classify the sequence, forward it if it contains a dog only or ignore it otherwise. The results of the experiments on long untrimmed videos show that our proposed method manages an excellent detection performance reaching 0.97 in average of precision, recall and f-1 score at a detection rate of approximately 30 fps, guaranteeing with that real-time processing.

  • Autonomous Underwater Vehicles plays specific role in underwater investigation. Generally, this kind of vehicles will move along a planned path for sea bottom or underwater installations inspections, search for mineral deposits along shelves, seeking lost items including bottom mines or for hydrographic measurements. A crucial barrier for it remains the possibility of precise determination of their underwater position. Commonly used radionavigation systems do not work in such circumstances or do not guarantee the required accuracies. In the paper some new solution is proposed on the assumption that it is possible to increase the precision by certain processing of a combination of measurements conducted by means of different techniques. Objective of the paper is the idea of navigation of AUV which consists of two phases: firstly a trip of AUV along pre-planned route and after that postprocessed transformation of collected data in post-processing mode. During the processing of collected data the modern adjustment methods have been applied, mainly estimation by means of least squares and M-estimation. Application of these methods should be associated with the measuring and geometric conditions of navigational tasks and thus suited for specific scientific and technical problems of underwater navigation. The first results of computer aided investigation will be presented and the basic scope of these application and possible development directions will be indicated also. The paper is prepared as an partial results of the works carried out within a framework of the research Project: 'Improvement of the Precise Underwater Vehicle Navigation Methods' financed by the Polish Ministry of Education and Science (No 0 T00A 012 25).

High-speed Fuzzy Inference System in Integrated GUI Environment

  • We propose an intgrated Gill environment system having only integer fuzzy operations in the consequent part and the defuzzification stage. In this paper, we also propose an integrated Gill environment system with 4 parallel fuzzy processing units to be operated in parallel on the classification of the sensed image data. In this, we solve the problems of taking longer times as the fuzzy real computations of [0, 1] by using the integer pixel conversion algorithm to convert lines of each fuzzy linguistic term to the closest integer pixels. This procedure is performed automatically in the GUI application program. As a Gill environment, PCI transmission, image data pre-processing, integer pixel mapping and fuzzy membership tuning are considered. This system can be operated in parallel manner for MIMO or MISO systems.

  • This paper designs the performance analysis layer for the various performance analysis of parallel programs using event expressions are similar to the normal program language to analyze the events which display a dynamic state exchange of a program. The event expressions suggest operations for overloading and functions which are needed in performance analysis, such as a filtering operation, data format translation functions, performance analysis, static functions, and etc. By using the event expressions, the programmer can modify the event trace data to analyze the performance and analyze more easily and variously than the pre-developed tools.

Design and Implementation of Hyperspectral Image Analysis Tool: HYVIEW

  • Hyperspectral images have shown a great potential for the applications in resource management, agriculture, mineral exploration and environmental monitoring. However, due to the large volume of data, processing of hyperspectral images faces some difficulties. This paper introduces the development of an image processing tool (HYVIEW) that is particularly designed for handling hyperspectral image data. Current version of HYVIEW is dealing with efficient algorithms for displaying hyperspectral images, selecting bands to create color composites, and atmospheric correction. Three band-selection schemes for producing color composites are available based on three most popular indexes of OIF, SI and CI. HYVIEW can effectively demonstrate the differences in the results of the three schemes. For the atmospheric correction, HYVIEW utilizes a pre-calculated LUT by which the complex process of correcting atmospheric effects can be performed fast and efficiently.
