This ppaer suggests a congestion control scheme for CL(ConnectionLess) overlay network using the feedback loops getween CL werver, between CL servers, and the header translation table of CL server. The CL overlay network for CBDS(Connectionless Broadband Data Service) defined by ITU0T(International Telecommunication Union-Telecommunication) consists of CL servers which route frames and links which connect between CL user and CL server or between CL servers. In this CL overlay network, two kinds of congestions, link congestion and CL server congestion, may occur. We suggest a scheme that can solve the congestion using ABR(Available Bit Rate) feedback control loop, the traffic control mechanism. This scheme is the link-by-link method suing the ABR feedback control loops between CL user and CL server or between CL servers, and the header translation table of CL server. As CL servers are always endpoints of ABR connections, the congestion staturs of the CL server can be informed to the traffic sources using RM(Resource Management) cell of the ABR feedback loops. Also CL server knows the trafffic sources making congestion by inspecting the source address field of CLNAP-PDUs(ConnectionLess Network Access Protocol - Protocol Data Units). Therefore this scheme can be implemeted easily using only both ABR feedback control loop of ATM layer and the congestion state table using the header translation table of CL server because it does not require separate feedback links for congestion control of CL servers.
In IEEE 802.15.4 (Low-Rate Wireless Personal Area Network) specification, a successful reception and validation of a data or MAC command frame can be confirmed with an acknowledgment. However, the specification does not support security for acknowledgment frame; the lack of a MAC covering acknowledgments allows an adversary to forge an acknowledgment for any frame. This paper proposes an identity authentication mechanism at the link layer for acknowledgment frame in IEEE 802.15.4 network. With the proposed mechanism there is only three bits for authentication, which can greatly reduce overhead of device. The encrypted bit stream for identity authentication will be transmitted to device by coordinator within association process. Statistical method and simulation results prove that our mechanism is successful in handling MAC layer attack.

In this paper, we described DVB-S2 system for mobility. cross layer coding technique are needed to maintain the performance in deep fading channel. Cross layer coding is divided into two kinds of level. First level is Physical layer coding and, second layer is link layer or upper layer coding. Fixed on DVB-S2 short frame coding method as a physical layer, we simulated the various coding method as an upper layer coding. Furthermore, we analyzed the performance of each coding method on according to mobile vehicle speed, data rate, interleaving memory size, and IP packet size.

This study considers a joint congestion control, routing and power control for energy-constrained wireless networks. A mathematical model is introduced which includes maximization of network utility, maximization of network lifetime, and trade-off between network utility and network lifetime. The framework would maximize the overall throughput of the network where the overall throughput depends on the data flow rates which in turn is dependent on the link capacities. The link capacity on the other hand is a function of transmit power levels and link Signal-to-Interference-plus-Noise-Ratio (SINR) which makes the power allocation problem inherently difficult to solve. Using dual decomposition techniques, subgradient method, and logarithmic transformations, a joint algorithm for rate and power allocation problems was formulated. Numerical examples for each optimization problem were also provided.

In this paper an inter-layer protocol, referred to as a Multi-Network Selector (MNS) is proposed for multiband maritime networks. A MNS is located between the data-link layer and the network layer and performs vertical handover when a ship moves another radio network. In order to provide seamless data transfer to different radio networks, the MNS uses received signal strength (RSS) and ship's location information as decision parameters for vertical handover, which can avoid ping-pong effect and reduces handover latency. In addition, we present related issues in order to implement the MNS for a multiband maritime network.

TCP is the most widely-used transport layer protocol in current Internet, while ATM technology is used to increase the data communication speed at data link layer and network layer. In the TCP-over-ATM architecture, the most significant problems are (i) the partial packet discarding problem, and (ii) the TCP window timeout problem. Several approaches have been proposed to solve the partial packet discard problem and the timeout problem individually, but none of them considered the two problems together. In this paper, we propose an enhanced UBR+ scheme which supports fairness among the TCP connections using UBR+ scheme, and provides protection of damaged VC from the multiple packet losses in the same TCP sliding window. To analyze its performance, we simulate the proposed scheme using OPNET. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme supports fairness, and also increases the throughput by reducing the probability of multiple cell losses in the same TCP window.
In this paper, we study a cross-layer and end-to-end optimization problem for the integrated wireless and wireline network that consists of one wireline core network and multiple wireless access networks. We consider joint end-to-end flow control/distribution at the transport and network layers and opportunistic scheduling at the data link and physical layers. We formulate a single stochastic optimization problem and solve it by using a dual approach and a stochastic sub-gradient algorithm. The developed algorithm can be implemented in a distributed way, vertically among communication layers and horizontally among all entities in the network, clearly showing what should be done at each layer and each entity and what parameters should be exchanged between layers and between entities. Numerical results show that our cross-layer and end-to-end optimization approach provides more efficient resource allocation than the conventional layered and separated optimization approach.
A high performance control and monitoring system for a high speed railway train requires a reliable the real-time communication network. TCN/WTB is designed for the data transmission over the train bus, and UIC556 defines that all the data be transmitted over TCN/WTB. This paper evaluates the performance of the link layer of WTB(Wired Train Bus). The evaluated results can be used for the selection of parameters for the sporadic message data.

This paper suggests a congestion control scheme for CL (ConnectionLess) overlay network using the feedback loops between CL user and CL server, between CL servers, and between end-to-end CL users, and the header translation table of CL server. The CL overlay network for CBDS(Connectionless Broadhand Data Service) defined by ITU-T((International Telecommunication Union-Telecommunication) consists of CL servers which route frames and links which connect between CL user and CL server or between CL servers. In the CL overlay network, two kinds of congestion, CL link congestion and CL server congestion, may occur. We considered the schemes to solve the congestion. link-by-link method[18] has used the ABR feedback loops of ATM layer between CL user and CL server or between CL servers, and the congestion table using header translation table of CL server. As in congestion of output virtual channel this method has an effect on all the traffic transmitting through the link, then it has an effect on the traffic that has not caused the congestion. As a result, the link utilization of output virtual channel that does not bring the congestion and outputs the traffic is decreased. To overcome this drawback of link-by-link, we proposed the hybrid method that are using the ABR feedback loops of link-by-link method, the feedback loop between CL users in end-to-end, the congestion table using and the header translation table. This scheme deals with teh congestion immediately by link-by-link loops and the header translation table, and then regulates the sending rate of CL user that causes the congestion by end-to-end loop.

Nowadays, the Internet of Things (IoT) is adopted to enable effective and smooth communication among different networks. In some specific application, the Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) are used in IoT to gather peculiar data without the interaction of human. The WSNs are self-organizing in nature, so it mostly prefer multi-hop data forwarding. Thus to achieve better communication, a cross-layer routing strategy is preferred. In the cross-layer routing strategy, the routing processed through three layers such as transport, data link, and physical layer. Even though effective communication achieved via a cross-layer routing strategy, energy is another constraint in WSN assisted IoT. Cluster-based communication is one of the most used strategies for effectively preserving energy in WSN routing. This paper proposes a Bio-inspired cross-layer routing (BiHCLR) protocol to achieve effective and energy preserving routing in WSN assisted IoT. Initially, the deployed sensor nodes are arranged in the form of a grid as per the grid-based routing strategy. Then to enable energy preservation in BiHCLR, the fuzzy logic approach is executed to select the Cluster Head (CH) for every cell of the grid. Then a hybrid bio-inspired algorithm is used to select the routing path. The hybrid algorithm combines moth search and Salp Swarm optimization techniques. The performance of the proposed BiHCLR is evaluated based on the Quality of Service (QoS) analysis in terms of Packet loss, error bit rate, transmission delay, lifetime of network, buffer occupancy and throughput. Then these performances are validated based on comparison with conventional routing strategies like Fuzzy-rule-based Energy Efficient Clustering and Immune-Inspired Routing (FEEC-IIR), Neuro-Fuzzy- Emperor Penguin Optimization (NF-EPO), Fuzzy Reinforcement Learning-based Data Gathering (FRLDG) and Hierarchical Energy Efficient Data gathering (HEED). Ultimately the performance of the proposed BiHCLR outperforms all other conventional techniques.
