A Study on the Automatic Registration of Multiple Range Images Obtained by the 3D Scanner around the Object (물체 주위를 돌아가며 3차원 스캐너로 획득된 다면 이미지의 자동접합에 관한 연구)

  • A new method for the 3D automatic registration of the multiple range images has been developed for the 3D scanners(non-contact coordinates measurement systems). In the existing methods, the user usually has to input more than 3 pairs of corresponding points for the iterative registration process. The major difficulty of the existing systems lies in that the input corresponding points must be selected very carefully because the optimal searching process and the registration results mostly depend upon the accuracy of the selected points. In the proposed method, this kind of difficulty is greatly mitigated even though it needs only 2 pairs of the corresponding input points. Several registration examples on the 3D measured data have been presented and discussed with the introduction to the proposed algorithm.

  • Integrated aircraft synthesis process for rapid analysis and design is described in this paper. Data flow between different analysis fields is described in details. All the data are divided into several groups according to importance and source of the data. Analysis of design requirements and certification regulations is carried out to determine baseline configuration of an aircraft. Overall design process can be divided into initial sizing, conceptual and preliminary design phases. Basic data for conceptual design are obtained from initial sizing, CAD and geometry analysis. Basic data are required input for weight, aerodynamics and propulsion analyses. Results of this analysis are used for stability and control, performance, mission, and load analysis. Feasibility of design is verified based on analysis results of each discipline. Design optimization that involves integrated process for aircraft analysis is performed to determine optimum configuration of an aircraft on a conceptual design stage. The process presented in this paper was verified to be used for light aircraft design.

VLSI Design of Cryptographic Processor for SEED and Triple DES Encryption Algorithm (SEED 와 TDES 암호 알고리즘을 구현하는 암호 프로세서의 VLSI 설계)

  • This paper describes design of cryptographic processor which can execute SEED, DES, and triple DES encryption algorithm. To satisfy flexible architecture and area-efficient structure, the processor has I unrolled loop structure with hardware sharing and can support four standard mode, such as ECB, CBC, CFB, and OFB modes. To reduce overhead of key computation, the precomputation technique is used. Also to eliminate increase of processing time due to data input and output time, background I/O technique is used which data input and output operation execute in parallel with encryption operation of cryptographic processor. The cryptographic processor is designed using 2.5V 0.25 $\mu\textrm{m}$ CMOS technology and consists of about 34.8K gates. Its peak performances is about 250 Mbps under 100 Mhz ECB SEED mode and 125 Mbps under 100 Mhz triple DES mode.

Empirical Modeling of Steering System for Autonomous Vehicles

  • To design an automatic steering controller with high performance for autonomous vehicle, it is necessary to have a precise model of the lateral dynamics with respect to the steering command input. This paper presents an empirical modeling of the steering system for an autonomous vehicle. The steering system here is represented by three individual transfer function models: a steering wheel actuator model from the steering command input to the steering angle of the shaft, a dynamic model between the steering angle and the yaw rate of the vehicle, and a dynamic model between the steering command and the lateral deviation of vehicle. These models are identified using frequency response data. Experiments were performed using a real vehicle. It is shown that the resulting identified models have been well fitted to the experimental data.

To reduce overhead of key computation , the key precomputation technique is used. Also to eliminate increase of processing time due to data input and output time, background I/O techniques is used which data input and output operation execute in parallel with encryption operation of cryptographic processor. The cryptographic processor is implemented using Altera EPF10K40RC208-4 devices and has peak performance of about 75 Mbps under 20 Mhz ECB DES mode and 25 Mbps uder 20 Mhz triple DES mode.

  • Based on input and output data pairs of nonlinear systems, this paper proposes a simple and effective Just-In-Time (JIT) method, called Direct JIT Control, for nonlinear control design. It uses an inverse model of controlled plant to compute an initial control action, and then adapts the initial control action by adding a fine-tuning control action, depended on the errors between the real outputs and the expected reference signals. Meanwhile, the proposed JIT method accomplishes the adaptation of the inverse model just simply by means of the refreshment of input and output data pairs.   • The Taylor model concept is introduced to design a controller with input and output data only. The parameters in Taylor model can be estimated using the input and output data and a controller can be designed based on Taylor model. The accuracy of Taylor model approximation can be improved by increasing the observation window and the order of Taylor model. The LQR method is applied to Taylor model to design power system stabilizers (PSS), and compared with the conventional PSS.

  • The CAM software for drill grinding has been developed to save time, reduce cost for tool manufacturing and obtain accuracy of tool. In this paper, the developing software for drill will be presented including calculation and simulation of machining processes using 5-axes CNC grinding machine. The algorithm fer helical flute grinding was applied into calculating NC data. The software will generate NC code for machining by using input data of tool geometry, wheel geometry, wheel setting, machine setting. These NC code files will be used in simulator as input file. The simulator provides some functions for simulating machining processes, inspecting and measuring tool geometry.

  • A graphic user interface program for the design of vehicle suspension system is developed in this work. Graphic templates are designed by using a graphic language and a library and given to users for interactive data input. Several suspension types are graphically given, and the information of hard points can be directly provided on the graphic templates by users. The information is saved in a data structure which can be efficiently accessed, and transformed into another data format. The data transformation is for the interface to an analyzer by which suspension design characteristics can be calculated.

  • In SCADA systems, an RTU is a device installed at a remote location that collects data, codes the data into a format that is transmittable and transmits the data back to a central station, or MTU. An RTU also collects information from the master device and implements processes that are directed by master device. RTUs are equipped with input channels for sensing or metering, output channels for control, indication or alarms and a communications port. In general, the data are transmitted via a wired communication infrastructure such as RS422 or RS485 between RTU and MTU. But, limited range of wired communication doesn't allow the system to cover remote areas over the limitation, and building a wired communication network is not easy in the circumstances. In this Paper, we design and implement a smart cost-effective Web-RTU that can communicate with MTU via Web. Web is of benefit to the Web-RTU, because it is not only free from the distance limitations, but also is built easily and cost-effectively wherever Internet resources are available. Additionally, Web can be easily applied to the SCADA system with the development of hardware and software for communications. The Web-RTU has a program memory, a data memory and a RAM inside, and uses Atmega128, low-cost 8 bit micro-processor with eight AI(Analog Input). It performs well enough to implement all existing roles of RTU.
