The HPFRCCs show that the multiple crack propagation, high tensile strength and ductility due to the interfacial bonding of the fibers to the cement matrix. Moreover, performance of cement composites varies according to type and weight contents of reinforcing fiber. and HPFRCCs with hybrid fiber have better performance than HPFRCCs with single fiber in damage tolerance. Total four cylindrical specimens were tested, and the main variables were the type and weight contents of fiber, which was polyvinylalchol (PVA), polyethylene (PE). In order to clarify effect of hybrid types on the characteristics of fracture and damage process in cement composites, AE method was performed to detect micro-cracking in HPFRCCs under cyclic compression. Loading conditions of the uniaxial compression test were monotonic and cyclic loading. And from AE parameter value, it is found that the second and third compressive load cycles resulted in successive decrease of the amplitude as compared with the first compressive load cvcle.
In order to study the triaxial mechanical behavior of steel fiber reinforced high performance concrete (SFRHPC), the standard triaxial compression tests with four different confining pressures are performed on the cylindrical specimens. Three different steel fiber volumes (0, 1% and 2%) are added in the specimens with diameter of 50 mm and height of 100 mm. Test results show that the triaxial compressive strength and peak strain increase with the increasing of fiber content at the same confining pressure. At the same steel fiber content, the triaxial compressive strength and peak strain increases with the confining pressure. The compressive strength growth rate declines as the confining pressure and steel fiber content increases. Longitudinal cracks are dominant in specimens with or without steel fiber under uniaxial compression loading. While with the confining pressure increases, diagonal crack due to shear is obvious. The Mohr-Coulomb criterion is illustrated can be used to describe the failure behavior, and the cohesive force increases as steel fiber content increases. Finally, the numerical model is built by using the PFC3D software. In the numerical model a index is introduced to reflect the effect of steel fiber content on the triaxial compressive behavior. The simulating stress-strain curve and failure mode of SFRHPC are agree well with the experimental results.
In this study, fire resistance of steel fiber reinforced concrete was investigated Cylindrical and prismatic specimens made of Ordinary Portland Cement plain concrete and steel fiber reinforced concrete were exposed to heating in accordance with a standard time-temperature curve as specified in KS·F22 57, method of fire resistance test for structural parts of buildings, the period of heating was 1 hour and 2 hours. After the fire resistance test, mechanical properties of specimens such as compressive and bending strength, stress-strain curve, static and dynamic modulus of elasticity and bending toughness were investigated. Also the cracks and spallings of the specimens were observed. From the test results, it was confirmed that steel fiber reinforced concrete has a excellent fire resistance than plain concrete in the view of higher residual strength of concrete and smaller crackings because of steel fibers in concrete.
In this paper, we present the fabrication and characteristic analysis of Sagnac interferometric optical fiber senior(OFS) system for detecting pulsed ultrasonic signal in underwater. The hollow cylindrical mandrel wound round by single mode optical fiber is used as sensing component. The ultrasonic signal source is simulated by the PZT actuator operated by an function generator. The distance dependency of the OFS's sensitivity was measured. The sensitivity has been shown to be inversely propotional to the square-root of distance between ultrasonic source and sensing component. It has also been shown that the OFS could detect the signals less affected by ultrasonic path comparing to conventional acousto-electric sensor. and accurate location of ultrasonic signal could be carried out using two OFSs.
The preliminary results on the application of optical fiber sensor(OFS) for locations of ultrasonic signals in underwater are presented and analyzed. The OFS utilizing the principle of Sagnac interferometry was designed and the hollowed cylindrical mandrel wound by single mode optical fiber was used as sensing component. The ultrasonic signal source was simulated by the PZT actuator operated with function generator. It has been shown that the OFS could detect the signals less affected by ultrasonic path comparing to conventional acousto-electric sensor and accurate location of ultrasonic signal could be carried out using two OFSs.
This paper shows results on the application of optical fiber sensors(OFS) for locations of ultrasonic signals in silicon insulating oil. The OFS system based on the principle of Sagnac interferometry has been designed and established for this work. The hollowed cylindrical mandrel wound by single mode optical fiber was used as a sensing component and ultrasonic signals which simulate the partial discharge In the oil have been generated by PZT actuator operated with function generator. The experimental results shows that the OFS has a excellent performance for the PD location with resolutions less than 1$^{\circ}C$ error range in the miniature insulating oil tank.
Carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP), which have been developed for their high mechanical properties, are insufficient to secure machinery. This paper investigates the use of magnetic abrasive finishing methods and the characteristics of surface roughness for mirror machining of CFRP. The cylindrical surface of CFRP was ground using a diamond paste with sizes of 0.1, 0.5, 1 and 6${\mu}m$. Consequently, an effective surface roughness of 0.03${\mu}m(R_a)$ could be obtained via a paste size of 0.5${\mu}m$. The surface roughness was not improved due to epoxy abrasion between the carbon fiber and the epoxy.
A hemispherical microbond specimen adhered onto single carbon fiber has been proposed for evaluating the interfacial shear strength between epoxy and carbon fiber. Hemispherical microbond specimens showed low interfacial shear strength data and its small standard deviation as compared with the droplet one, which seemed to be caused by the reduction of the meniscus effects and of the stress concentration in the region contacting with the tip of pin hole. In comparison with the droplet specimen the hemispherical specimen showed the shear stress distribution similar to the cylindrical one in that low stress concentration arose around the contacting region. Average interfacial shear strength obtained by the hemispherical ones represented a good correlation with the hardness of the epoxy matrix.
