In general, image-based virtual environment is represented by panoramic images created by image mosaic algorithm. The cylindrical panoramic image supports the fixed-viewpoint navigation due to the constraints of construction. Shum proposed concentric mosaics to allow users to navigate freely within a circular area[10]. It is constructed by a sequence of images which is acquired from a regularly rotating camera. Concentric mosaics technique, proposed by Shum, is considered as 3D plenoptic function which is defined three parameters : distance, height and angle. In this paper, we suggest an effective method for creating concentric mosaics, in which we first align a set of strip images on the cylinder plane and stitch the aligned strips to build a panoramic image. The proposed method has no constraints such as regular panning motion of camera. Furthermore, our proposed method minimizes the use of interpolation image to create a novel view images from the concentric mosaics. It allows the result image on a novel view to have better quality with respect to the number of input images.
Submerged gas-injected system can be applied to various industrial field such as metallurgical and chemical processes, So this study aims at presenting the relevant relationship between gas phase and liquid phase in a gas-injected bath. In a cylinderical bath, local gas volume fraction and bubble frequency were measured by electroconductivity probe and oscilloscope. The temperature of each phase was measured using thermocouple and data acquisition system. In vertical gas injection system, gas-liquid two phase plume was formed, being symmetry to the axial direction of injection nozzle and in a shape of con. Lacal gas-liquid flow becomes irregular around the injection nozzle due to kinetic energy of gas and the flow variables show radical change at the vicinity of gas(air) injection nozzle As most of the kinetic energy of gas was transferred to liquid in this region, liquid started to circulate. In this reason, this region was defined as 'developing flow region' The Bubble was taking a form of churn flow at the vicinity of nozzle. Sometimes smaller bubbles formed by the collapse of bubbles were observed. The gas injected into liquid bath lost its kinetic energy and then was governed by the effect of buoyancy. In this region the bubbles which lost their kinetic energy move upward with relatively uniform velocity and separate. Near the gas nozzle, gas concentration was the highest. But it started to decrease as the axial distance increased, showing a Gaussian distribution.

Our aim was to simulate ocean waves in a small-size wave flume and observe the motion of a cylindrical floating body placed in an offshore environment. To precisely visualize the oscillation of the body, a set of light-emitting diode illuminators and high-speed charge-coupled device camera were installed in the flume. Spectral analysis was performed of the movement of the floating body. The wave generator and absorbers worked well to simulate stable regular waves. As the period of the oncoming waves changed, the movement of the floating body substantially differed when tethered to a tension-leg mooring cable. In particular, when connected to the tension-leg mooring cable, the natural frequency of the floating body suddenly appeared at 0.391 Hz as the wave period was increased.
The aim of this study was to explore the spatial and energy resolutions of a PET scanner that we have recently developed. The scanner, which consists of six detector modules with 1-layer LGSO crystals, has a hexagonal configuration with a faceto- face distance of 86.4 mm between two opposite PET modules; such properties facilitate the imaging of small animals. A $^{22}Na$ point source was employed to estimate horizontal and vertical spatial resolutions. To assess the energy resolution, a uniform $^{18}F$ cylindrical phantom was scanned. A software-based spectrum analysis of list-mode data was used to assign a local energy window centered on the photopeak position for every single crystal. For the image reconstruction, an ML-EM algorithm was used. The spatial resolutions at the center of the scanner were 0.99 mm in the horizontal direction and 1.13 mm in the vertical direction. The energy resolution averaged over each PMT ranged from 13.3%-14.3%, which gave an average value of 13.8%. These results show that this simple system is promising for small animal imaging with excellent spatial and energy resolutions.
A high $T_c$ SQUID system is developed for the application to biological immunoassay. In this application, magnetic nanoparticles are used as magnetic markers to perform immunoassay, i.e., to detect binding reaction between an antigen and its antibody. The antibody is labeled with ${\gamma}-Fe_2O_3\;(or\;Fe_3O_4)$ nanoparticles, and the binding reaction can be magnetically detected by measuring the magnetic field from the nanoparticles. Design and set up of the system is described. The system consists of (1) SQUID magnetometer or gradiometer made of 30-deg. bicrystal junctions, (2) field and compensation coils to apply the magnetic field of about 1 mT, (3) special Dewar to realize a 2 mm-distance between the SQUID and the sample, (4) two layers of cylindrical shielding to reduce the extemal magnetic noise to about 1/100, and (5) an electric slider to move the sample with a speed of 10 mm/sec. The sensitivity of the system is studied in terms of detectable magnetic flux. For the measurement bandwidth from 0.2 Hz to 10 Hz, minimum-detectable amplitude of the magnetic flux is $0.8\;m\;{\Phi}_o$ and $0.25\;m{\Phi}_o$ for the magnetometer and the gradiometer, respectively, when the magnetic field of 1 mT is applied. The difference between them is due to the residual environmental noise, and the applied magnetic field does not increase the system noise. The corresponding weight of the magnetic markers is 1 ng and 310 pg, respectively. An experiment is also conducted to measure antigen-antibody reaction with the present system. It is shown that the sensitivity of the present system is 10 times better than that of the conventional method using an optical marker. A one order of magnitude improvement of sensitivity will be realized by the sophistication of the present system.
Beads loaded with the water-soluble drug, phenylpropanolamine HCl (PPA), were prepared using an extruder and double arm counter-rotating roller modified from a traditional pill machine. The mean diameter of the cylindrical rod-like extrudate from the ram extruder was 3 mm; that of the uncoated bead after cutting and spheronization by the modified double arm counter-rotating roller was 3.26~3.28 mm. Although the surface of the beads was moderately rough and irregular, some exhibited hump-shaped protrusions, the sphericity was acceptable (roundness 1.15) and adequate for the subsequent coating process. An increase in mean diameter of the coated beads and improvements in friability and sphericity were observed in proportion to the amount of coating material applied (ethylcellulose or Eudragit?? RS 100). It was also found that the release rate of PPA from the coated beads could be controlled by the amount and type of coating materials applied or with the incorporation of Eudragit ?? RS 100 into the core matrix. Further modifications to the double arm counter-rotating roller, including adjustment of the rotation speed and distance between the rollers, would yield smaller uncoated beads with improved roundness and surface roughness. In conclusion , the present method could be potentially applied to prepare controlled release drug delivery beads or pellet dosage forms.
This study was conducted, during the period of 20-30th, July in 1981, to survey measurement methods in thyroid uptake rate test in Seoul city. The results were summarized as follows: 1. For the great part of nuclear medcine department, a mount of radioiodine($^{131}I$) administrated to the patients was $50-100{\mu}Ci$ in thyroid uptake rate test. 2. Distribution of scintillation, counter with crystal size of $1\frac{1}{2}inch$ was 43%, 3inch(22%), 2.5inch(14%) and $2\frac{1}{2}inch$ was 7% in RAI uptake rate test. 3. When RAI uptake rate test was performed, distribution of collimator in use was flat field type collimator(78%) in general and cylindrical type collimator was 22%. 4. High voltage applied to the P-M tube was $900{\sim}1000V$(50%) and most units provided $3{\sim}15%$ of the window range for the $^{131}I$ peak $\gamma-ray$ energy. 5. Distribution on the use of neck phantom for measurements standard solution was 57% and distribution of b filter in use for room background counts and extrathyroidal tissue was 43% and 50%. 6. The distance between the counter and the source was 25cm(58%) in measuring radioactivity of standard solution, thyroid tissue and background radioactivity count. 7. The early uptake measurements(2, 4, 6 hours) are done after administration of the radioiodine dose and also 24-hour and 48-hour uptake measurements are done in routine test.
Experimental studies of the hydrodynamic performance of the draft tube conical spout-fluid bed (DCSF) were conducted using pharmaceutical pellets. The experiments were carried out in a DCSF consisted of two sections: (a) a conical section with the cross section of $120mm{\times}250mm$ and the height of 270 mm, (b) a cylindrical section with the diameter of 250 mm and the height of 600 mm. The flow characteristics of solids were investigated with a high speed camera and a pezoresistive absolute pressure transducer simultaneously. These characteristics revealed different flow regimes in the DCSF: packed bed at low gas velocities, fluidized bed in draft tube at higher gas velocities until minimum spouting, and spouted bed. The stable spouting was identified by the presence of two dominant frequencies of the power spectrum density of pressure fluctuation signature: (i) the frequency band 6-9 Hz and (ii) the frequency band 12-15 Hz. The pressure drops across the draft tube as well as the annulus measured in order to better recognize the flow structure in the DCSF. It was observed that the pressure drop across the draft tube, the pressure drop across the annulus, and the minimum spouting velocity increase with the increase in the height of draft tube and distance of the entrainment zone, but with the decrease in the distributor hole pitch. Finally, this study provided novel insight into the hydrodynamic of DCSF, particularly minimum spouting and stable spouting in the DCSF which contains valuable information for process design and scale-up of spouted bed equipment.
We studied a localized hologram recording method that can be used in a disk-shaped medium. In this method, the reference beam is focused by use of a cylindrical lens to get a thin spot in the medium, and then a hologram is recorded in that spot by illuminating the signal beam. Many localized holograms are multiplexed by shifting the medium by a distance more than the thin spot size of the reference beam. This method does not need recording-time scheduling for uniform diffraction efficiencies. We show that a minimal required thickness of the recording medium exists for a given spot size of the signal beam. We performed experiments for data storage and retrieval, and obtained a storage density of 20 bits/${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$$^2$ and a raw-bit error rate (RBER) of 2.5${\times}$10$^{-3}$ , when a 2 mm-thick Fe-doped LiNbO$_3$ crystal was used.

A FAC (flow-accelerated corrosion) test was performed for a straight pipe composed of the SA335 Gr P22 and SA106 Gr B (SA106-SA335-SA106) types of steel with welds as a function of the flow rate in the range of 7-12 m/s at 150 ℃ and with DO < 5 ppb at pH levels ranging from 7 to 9.5 up to a cumulative test time of 7200 h using the FAC demonstration test facility. Afterward, the experimental pipe was examined destructively to investigate opposite effects as well as entrance effects. In addition, the FAC rate obtained using a pipe specimen with a 50 mm inner diameter was compared with the rate obtained from a rotating cylindrical electrode. The effects of the complicated fluid flows at the elbow and orifice of the pipeline were also evaluated using another test section designed to examine the independent effects of the orifice and the elbow depending on the distance and the combined effects on orifice and elbow. The tests were performed under the following conditions: 130-150 ℃, DO < 5 ppb, pH 7 and a flow rate of 3 m/s. The FAC rate was determined using the thickness change obtained from commercial room-temperature ultrasonic testing (UT).
