The Effects of Emotional Intelligence on the Customer Orientation and Customer Relationship Management Performance of Hotel Employees (호텔기업 종업원의 감성지능이 고객지향성과 CRM성과에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose - This study aimed to (a) investigate the effects of emotional intelligence on customer orientation, (b) examine the impact of customer orientation on customer relationship management (CRM) performance (including CRM-related variables such as 'relationship commitment,' 'image of corporation,' and 'customer loyalty'), and (c) identify the conceptual framework of emotional intelligence. Research design, data, and methodology - The data were collected using a questionnaire given to a sample of employees of luxury hotels in the metropolitan area. To test the hypotheses, AMOS were conducted for the 271 respondents of the sample using the SPSS Win 17.0 software. The concept of emotional intelligence (EI) has been on the radar of many leaders and managers over the past few decades. Emotional intelligence is generally accepted to be a combination of emotional and interpersonal competencies that influence behavior, thoughts, and interactions with others. Emotional intelligence consists of four factors: understanding the self's emotion, understanding other people's emotions, emotion utilization, and emotion control. Understanding the self's emotion means to understand of my own emotions. Understanding other people's emotions is to understand of the emotions of the people around me and to know how my friends feel based on their behavior. The concept of emotion utilization means to set goals for myself and then try to achieve them, encouraging myself to do my best. The concept of emotion control means I can control my temper, handle difficult situations rationally, and calm down quickly when I am very angry. Results - As a result of the analysis, three factors (understanding the self's emotion, understanding of other people's emotions, and emotion utilization) were shown to have a significant effect on customer orientation. Emotion control had an insignificant effect on customer orientation. Only emotion control makes it difficult to solve customers' problems because it is a passive behavior. In order to solve the customers' problems, hotel employees have to show a positive attitude. Second, customer orientation had a significant effect on customer relationship management performance (customer relationship commitment, corporate image, and customer loyalty). In other words, customer orientation increases commitment to customer relationships. For example, employees who have a customer-orientated perspective provide good service to their customers, while employees who don't have a customer-orientated perspective can't satisfy their customers. Customer orientation can also generate a good image among customers, because they evaluate the image of a hotel through the behavior of hotel employees. So it is very important for employees to show excellent customer orientation. Conclusions - It is very important for hotel CEOs to manage their employees' emotional intelligence. In order to increase their employees' emotional intelligence abilities, CEOs have to manage the overall corporate culture and reward programs to achieve what they want. This is because the system can lead to a customer-orientated mind-set and CRM performance among employees. As a result, the hotel CEO has to pay attention to the emotional intelligence of employees to achieve strong CRM performance. The sentence as originally written was a bit unclear. The Effect of the Selection Attribute of Local Jeonju-bibimhop Restaurants on Customer Satisfaction and Behavioral Intention: Focused on Jeonju area (전주비빔밥 향토음식점의 선택속성이 고객만족과 행동의도에 미치는 영향: 전주지역을 중심으로)

  • This research try to find the strategic implication through the importance-performance analysis for the customers who visited local Jeonju-Bibimbap restaurants. It also investigates the effect of the selection attribute of the restaurants on customer satisfaction and behavior intention as well as how customer satisfaction affects behavior intention. The survey was conducted targeting those who visited the local restaurants in Jeonju and had Jeonju-Bibimbap, and 251 copies of the questionnaire were used for the final analysis. As a result, the properties 'Environmental cleanliness' and 'Convenience of reservations' in IPA are probed as 'improvement needed as soon as possible'; the 'food(p<0.01)' and 'service(p<0.05)' factors significantly affect customer satisfaction; the 'physical environment(p<0.01)' and 'service(p<0.05)' factors have significant effect on behavior intention; lastly, it has also been found true that customer satisfaction significantly influences behavior intention(p<0.001).

A Study on the Effect of the Attributes of Online Food Market on Behavior Intention - An Analysis of the Moderator effect on the consumption tendency -

  • This study is about online purchases of foods that have been reluctant to deal with distribution processes and reliability issues. We find out that attributes of the online food market affects behavior intention and whether it differs according to consumption tendency. A survey was conducted on consumers who had ever purchased food online for hypothesis testing. Reliability and feasibility were reviewed for the collected data and the hypothesis was verified through structural equation model analysis. While product diversity, product information and customer service factors of the online food market significantly affect behavior intention, price is not. We identified differences in the impact of behavior intention on consumption tendencies. For the Gaseongbi group, only the product information factors have significant effect on behavior, and for the Gasimbi group, the price and customer service factors have a significant effect on behavior intention. The findings provide theoretical and practical implications for marketers to study various marketing method based on consumer tendencies.

  • Traditional studies for customer relationship management (CRM) generally focus on static CRM in a specific time frame. The static CRM and customer behavior knowledge derived could help marketers to redirect marketing resources fur profit gain at that given point in time. However, as time goes, the static knowledge becomes obsolete. Therefore, application of CRM to an online retailer should be done dynamically in time. Customer-based analysis should observe the past purchase behavior of customers to understand their current and likely future purchase patterns in consumer markets, and to divide a market into distinct subsets of customers, any of which may conceivably be selected as a market target to be reached with a distinct marketing mix. Though the concept of buying-behavior-based CRM was advanced several decades ago, virtually little application of the dynamic CRM has been reported to date. In this paper, we propose a dynamic CRM model utilizing data mining and a Monitoring Agent System (MAS) to extract longitudinal knowledge from the customer data and to analyze customer behavior patterns over time for the Internet retailer. The proposed model includes an extensive analysis about a customer career path that observes behaviors of segment shifts of each customer: prediction of customer careers, identification of dominant career paths that most customers show and their managerial implications, and about the evolution of customer segments over time. furthermore, we show that dynamic CRM could be useful for solving several managerial problems which any retailers may face.

  • This study attempted to provide basic data on the operation plan by investigating how the servicescape of domestic water sports facilities affects customer satisfaction and participation behavior. Therefore, participants in their 20s or older were selected as samples among those who experienced water sports facilities. The survey was conducted non-face-to-face from April 25 to July 15, 2022, and a total of 243 copies of data were used for the final analysis. For data processing, frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, item consistency, correlation analysis, simple and multiple regression analysis were performed using the SPSS (ver. 21.0) program. As a result of this study, first, it was found that the water sports facility servicescape affects the value in the order of convenience, empathy, and facility environment. Second, it was found that customer satisfaction at water sports facilities had an effect on participation behavior. Third, it was found that the water sports facility servicescape affects participation behavior in the order of facility environment, service, convenience, and empathy.

Mediating Effects of Emotional Labor in the relationships between Communication Ability and Customer Oriented Behaviors: Focusing upon Self-Employed Businessmen (소상공인 커뮤니케이션 능력과 고객지향적 행동 관계에서 감정노동의 매개효과)

  • The purpose of present study is to investigate mediating effects of emotional labor in the links between communication ability of small businessmen and customer orientation behavior. In detail, it is demonstrated both impacts of communication ability on customer orientation behavior and emotional labor (surface acting, deep acting), and of emotional labor (surface acting, deep acting) on customer orientation behavior. Furthermore, mediating effects of emotional labor (surface acting, deep acting) will be verified. The data for analysis was collected from 270 employees in small businessmen located in Jeju. The results are as follows. First, the main impacts of communication ability on customer orientation behavior and emotional labor (surface acting, deep acting) were statistically significant, in addition, emotional labor (surface acting) was positively associated with customer orientation behavior. Surface acting as a mediator was partially mediated the relation. The result will help to understand the importance for communication ability in small businessmen, and it suggests the crucial implecation in the communication study of service suppliers.

  • This study is a research on eating-out customer's behavior of inquiring information through the supporting research on the searching information behavior of the customers who visit family restaurants. The result was deduced that the types of eating-out customer's behavior of searching information were different to age, sex, education, incomes, etc., based on demographic analysis. In addition, this study investigated the satisfaction with information and the information types of eating-out customers with verification.

  • As the life style of modern people is gradually being more scientific, up-to-date and specialized, food habit and food culture are a measure of cultural level of a country. Studies on consumer behavioral model show that food habit is closely related to consumer preference, changing life pattern and increasing family income. The purpose of this study was, accordingly, to define the impact of menu characteristics on customer menu selection. For that purpose, some attempts were made: First, discuss the theories on Italian food and customer purchasing behavior as a standard of analysis. Second, find out if there are any differences in customer menu-selection factors in hotel Italian restaurant. Third, make an empirical analysis of menu-selection factors in hotel Italian restaurant to suggest in which direction it should move forward. Fourth, analyze the relationship of demographic characteristics to menu-selection factors.

Effects of Consumption Values on Customer Satisfaction in Movie Theaters: A Focus on College Students (영화관의 소비가치가 고객만족에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구: 대학생을 중심으로)

  • Purpose - This study aims to classify and extend the consumer value of movie theaters into various values such as functional value, emotional value, social value, epistemic value, and conditional value based on the theory of consumption value by Sheth, Newman and Gross (1991). It also aims to verify the path structure of consumption value→customer satisfaction→behavior intention of movie theaters to confirm its generalization. Research design, data, and methodology - This study was conducted by collecting data on Kimpo university students from various areas in Incheon, Northern Seoul, Ilsan, Kyonggi Province, and Kimpo City. The survey was conducted by distributing 280 survey papers from Oct. 5 to 15, 2013 and collecting 238 of them. The final analysis used 208 questionnaires, after excluding 30 invalid responses. The statistical analysis of this study used the SPSS 19.0 statistics package. Results - The results of the survey are as follows: First, consumption values of movie theaters are classified into the following five groups: functional value, emotional value, social value, epistemic value, and conditional value. This study verified that consumption values play a role as a previous variable of customer satisfaction. Second, functional value, emotional value, and epistemic value have positive effects on customer satisfaction. On the other hand, social value and conditional value do not affect customer satisfaction. Finally, customer satisfaction has a positive impact on behavior intention. Theater users have an intention to re-use or recommend the movie theater they used when they are satisfied with a movie theater's physical environment and services. Conclusions - This study can provide academic and practical implications as follows based on the results mentioned above. First, academic implications can be found in that consumption values of movie theater users are classified into five values based on the theory of consumption value by Sheth et al. (1991). In the previous study, the service quality of a movie theater was studied based on the service quality of service encounters and a physical environment→customer satisfaction→behavior intention path structure. However, this study was verified by a consumption value→customer satisfaction→behavior intention path structure to classify consumption value, but not service quality or perceived value of quality, to confirm this generalization. Second, practical implications can be found in that the relative impact of consumption value of movie theaters on consumer satisfaction showed that functional value was followed by epistemic value and emotional value. In the previous study on movie theaters, previous variables of customer satisfaction were separated only by functional service quality including service encounters and physical environment; in some other studies, quality of service encounter had a direct effect on customer satisfaction. Accordingly, a marketing manager of a movie theater should develop various differentiated services by reflecting not only functional value such as service encounters and physical environment but also epistemic value and emotional value.

  • It can be said that nowadays, customers don't recognize that only good quality products as selection attribute regarding products quality can satisfy them. The case in service industries is also the same. Service quality is most affected by the criteria that customers themselves evaluate. Customers who are not satisfied with services provided institutions will disregard them. In consequence, this will affect their profitability. Collected questionnaires were analyzed using SPSS v.15 for the concrete proof analysis and the results are as follows. First, Service quality works as an important factors on customer's behavior. Second, Relationship quality serves as a mediated role between service quality and customer's behavior.
