Time Varying 전원 전압을 고려한 PWM 컨버터 제어 (PWM Converter Control considering time varying source voltage)

  • A new control scheme is proposed suitable for the three phase PWM converter having abrupt load variation such as a crane. In the converter used in a crane, the peak value of source voltage varies instantaneously due to the abrupt load variations. Such a voltage variation degrades the performance of DC-link control of PWM converter. To overcome this problem, load variations should be detected and compensated properly. We propose a new method for detecting and compensating the load variations without the additional hardware. With the proposed scheme, load variations are detected by estimating the current of DC-link capacitor. The estimated current information is feedbacked to a current controller to improve the performance. Additionally, the variation of source voltage is compensated using feedforward controller. The performance of the proposed scheme has been verified through simulations.

  • This paper proposes a soft-switching current source inverter for a photovoltaic power system. The proposed inverter has an H-type switched-capacitor module composed of two semiconductor switches, two diodes, and an LC resonant circuit. The operation of the proposed system was analyzed by a theoretical approach with equivalent circuits and was verified by computer simulations with SPICE and experimental implementation with a hardware prototype. The proposed system could be effectively applied for the power converter of photovoltaic power system interconnected with the AC power system.

Current-Controlled Driving Method for AC PDP and Experimental Characterization

  • A new Current-Controlled Driving Method that can drive AC PDPs with low voltage and high luminous efficiency for the sustaining period is presented. In this driving method, the voltage source is connected to a storage capacitor and the stored voltage is delivered to the panel through LC resonance. Thus, this driving method can drive the panel with a voltage source as low as about half of the voltage necessary in the conventional driving methods. The discharge current flowing into the AC PDP is limited in this method. Thus, the power consumption for the discharge is reduced and the discharge input power to output luminance efficiency is improved. Experimental results using this driving method showed that we could drive an AC PDP with a voltage source as low as 146V and that high luminous efficiency of 1.33 1m/W can be achieved.

A CMOS Charge Pump Circuit with Short Turn-on Time for Low-spur PLL Synthesizers

  • A charge pump circuit with very short turn-on time is presented for minimizing reference spurs in CMOS PLL frequency synthesizers. In the source switching charge pump circuit, applying proper voltages to the source nodes of the current source FETs can significantly reduce the unwanted glitch at the output current while not degrading the rising time, thus resulting in low spur at the synthesizer output spectrum. A 1.1-1.6 GHz PLL synthesizer employing the proposed charge pump circuit is fabricated in 65 nm CMOS. The current consumption of the charge pump is $490{\mu}A$ from 1 V supply. Compared to the conventional charge pump, it is shown that the reference spur is improved by dB through minimizing the turn-on time. Theoretical analysis is described to show that the measured results agree well with the theory.

저전력 응용을 위한 28 nm 금속 게이트/high-k MOSFET 디자인 (28 nm MOSFET Design for Low Standby Power Applications)

  • This paper explores 28 nm MOSFET design for LSTP(Low Standby Power) applications using TCAD(Technology Computer Aided Design) simulation. Simulated results show that the leakage current of the MOSFET is increasingly dominated by GIDL(Gate Induced Drain Leakage) instead of a subthreshold leakage as the Source/Drain extension doping increases. The GIDL current can be reduced by grading lateral abruptness of the drain at the expense of a higher Source/Drain series resistance. For 28 nm MOSFET suggested in ITRS, we have shown Source/Drain design becomes even more critical to meet both leakage current and performance requirement.

  • This paper proposes the Selected Harmonic Elimination Pluse Width Modulation (SHE PW) scheme toreduce the ahrmonic components of source line current. To eliminate the low order harmonics which affects the source dominatly, we apply the Fourier series analysis to line current waveforms and then find out the switching patterns using the SHE PWM scheme. In addition to the analysis of harmonic effects, the three phase filter circuit is used to reduce high order harmonics. For the experimental realization, the converter circuit with power Transistor(PTR) is designed and the Pulse Time Control(PTC) is applied. The line current and the load voltage are measured under the condition of three phase application, highly inductive load.

  • Simple nonoverlapped source/drain-to-gate MOSFETs to suppress GIDL (gate-induced drain leakage) is simulated with SILVACO simulation tool. Changing spacer thickness for adjusting length of Drain to Gate nonoverlapped region, this simulation observes on/off characteristic of nonoverlapped source/drain-to-gate MOSFETs. Off current is dramatically decreased with S/D to gate nonoverlapped length increasing. The result shows that maximum on/off current ratio is achieved by adjusting nonoverlapped length.

  • In this paper, voltage source FEA considering magnetic hysteresis characteristics is presented. Magnetization dependent model is used as a hysteresis model. The unknowns in finite element equation are the magnetic vector potential and current. Core model is analyzed and current waveform is compared with the experimental one. It is found that current can be accurately predicted with the voltage variation.

  • Current waveform control of pulse MAG welding power source is studied so that welding of thin plates may obtain high speed and improved performance. In this paper, waveform control method is proposed, digital controller using DSP is able to control the current waveform precisely. High speed welding of thin plates using pulse MAG welding method is made possible. Performance test for 1.2mm thin plates is carried out, output waveform and welding performance is analyzed.

Self-Oscillating Switching Technique for Current Source Parallel Resonant Induction Heating Systems

  • This paper presents resonant inverter tuning for current source parallel resonant induction heating systems based on a new self oscillating switching technique. The phase error is suppressed in a wide range of operating frequencies in comparison with Phase Locked Loop (PLL) techniques. The proposed switching method has the capability of tuning under fast changes in the resonant frequency. According to this switching method, a multi-frequency induction heating (IH) system is proposed by using a single inverter. In comparison with multi-level inverter based IH systems, the advantages of this technique are its simple structure, better transients and wide range of operating frequencies. A laboratory prototype was built with an operating frequency of 35 kHz to 55 kHz and 300 W of output power. The performance of the IH system shows the validity of the new switching technique.
