A Control Algorithm of Single Phase Active Power Filter based on Rotating Reference Frame (회전좌표계를 이용한 단상능동전력필터의 제어이론)

  • The major causes of power quality deterioration are harmonic current through semiconductor switching device, due to use of nonlinear loads such as diodes rectifier or thyristor rectifiers. In response to this concerns, this paper presents a new control method of single-phase active power filter(APF) for the compensation of harmonic current components in nonlinear loads. In order to make the complex calculation to be possible, the single-phase system that has two phases was made by constructing a imaginary second-phase giving time delay to load currents. In the conventional method, a imaginary-phase lagged to the load current T/4(here T is the fundamental cycle) was made. But in this proposed method, the new signal, which has the delayed phase through the filter, using the phase-delay property of low-pass filter, was used as the second phase. As this control method is applied to the system of single phase, an instantaneous calculation was done rather by using the rotating reference frames that synchronizes with source-frequency than by applying instantaneous reactive power theory that uses the conventional fixed reference frames.

  • In this paper, the Sliding Mode Controller is applied to reduce the starting current of the single phase induction motor. The input voltage to the single phase induction motor is controlled so that the starting current of the motor may be maintained within the rating value and the velocity is also controlled, by adjusting the switching function of the Sliding Mode Controller. The switching of sliding control made appropriately with regard to velocity error signal and acceleration signal. It is shown that the starting characteristics of the single phase induction motor(SPIM) can be greatly enhanced through the sliding control of single phase induction motor.

  • The PWM control technique is proposed which can eliminate the harmonic components of the nonsinusoidal ac line current such as the current of 6-phase rectifier by injecting PWM current. TSC(Time-Sharing Control) is adopted to avoid the unbalance between three PWM injection currents at the three-phase system. Also a new power circuit for three-phase filter is suggested for realizing the proposed PWM control technique. The operation characteristics are investigated theoretically and experimentally to show the feasibility of the optimized injection method.

  • The synthetic short-circuit making test to adequately stress the circuit breaker has been specified as the mandatory test duty in the IEC 62271-100. The purpose of this test is to give the maximum pre-arcing energy during making operation. And this requires the making operation with symmetrical short-circuit current that is established when the breakdown between contact gap occurs near the crest of the applied voltage. Also, if the interrupting chamber of circuit breakers is designed as the type of common enclosure or the operation is made by the gang operated mechanism that three-phase contacts are operated by one common mechanism, three-phase synthetic making test is basically required. Therefore, several testing laboratories have developed and proposed their own test circuits to properly evaluate the breaker performance. With these technical backgrounds, we have developed the new alternative three-phase making circuit.

  • This paper newly proposes the SRM drive system based on DC-link current information, from which the phase currents can be estimated in accuracy and also they can be used in driving SRM instead of the phase currents. Comparing to the general drive system based on the phase current information, it is verified through the simulation(which are peformed by RMxprt and Simplorer) that the proposed SRM drive system has the good performance in dynamic and steady-state responses of the speed control. Using the DC-link current information, all of the multi-phase currents can be easily estimated in driving the SRM.

  • In this paper, the implementation of a three-phase shunt active power filter is presented. The filter is essentially three independent single-phase current-controlled voltage source inverters (CC-VSI) with a common DC bus. The CC- VSI is operated to directly control the AC grid current to be sinusoidal and in phase with the grid voltage without detecting the load currents. The APF consists of a current control loop, which shapes the grid currents to be sinusoidal and a voltage control loop, which regulates the active power balance of the system. The experimental results indicate that the active filter is able to handle predominantly the harmonics, as well as the unbalance and reactive power, so that the grid currents are sinusoidal, in phase with the grid voltages and symmetrical.

  • In this paper PU control scheme is presented. The proposed scheme has following features. The one is oft-starting method which is used for preventing to flow large current in motor phase winding when motor starts. The ther is the selection of the level of the over current. The first feature is implemented by increasing the PWM duty lowly, the second feature is implemented by limiting the magnitude of the phase current level by which the over heat f motor by copper losses and magnetic saturation decreases. By the analysis using FEM considering load condition, the peed of mode transition from PW to single pulse control is selected and confirmed by simulation that there is no ver current occurs during the mode transition. For the verification of proposed scheme, the simulation using MATLAB Simulink with considering non-linearity of inductance profile from FEM analysis is performed and the experiment with SRM drive system which has the DSP controller and single Phase SRM are peformed.

  • It is usual to operate the long transmission line with transposition of each phase in order to avoid voltage unbalance due to unbalanced capacitances at each phase of the line end. This paper described the Ferranti voltage rise of line end, charging current and secondary arc current according to the transposition of line or not. The positive and negative sequence current was derived by the phase current, and then the unbalanced rate was calculated. Then, we obtained the reclosing dead time of the single phase reclosing scheme for 500 kV single circuit horizontal arrangement transmission line system.

Three-Phase Common-Mode Active EMI Filters for Induction Motor Drive Applications

  • In this paper, the conducted EMI reduction performances of active feed-forward current-sensing current-actuation (CSCA) and voltage-sensing current-actuation (VSCA) filters for a three-phase induction motor drive system are evaluated by experiments. For comparison purposes, the conducted EMI (CM emission, DM emission and total emission) of a three-phase induction motor drive with a conventional CM choke, a conventional CM choke in series with an active VSCA filter, and an active CSCA filter (where the CM choke was modified and used as a sensing current transformer) were compared to the case of a system without any filter inserted. Experimental results show that the active CSCA and VSCA filters can improve the CM reduction performance of the conventional CM choke by about 5 dB especially at low-frequencies. However, for DM comparisons, it shows that there is no different between cases with and without filters inserted.

A Study on The Rotor Position Detection of Bifilar-Wound Hybrid Stepping Motors (복권형 하이브리드 스테핑 전동기의 회전자 위치 검출에 대한 연구)

  • In this paper, we show that the rotor position of the bifilar-wound hybrid stepping motors for the closed-loop drives is detected by the phase current measurement. We propose an instantaneous phase current equation, which is the function of electrical angle, by the modeling of the stepping motor including motor driving circuits. We also analyze the relationship between phase current and rotor position from the computer simulation results. It is shown that the information about the rotor position is obtained from the phase current amplitude and its derivatives at the instance of ${\pi}/2$ electrical angle of excitation voltage.
