During magnetic inrush or over-excitation saturation of the core in a transformer draws a large exciting current. This can cause mal-operation of a differential relay. This paper proposes a modified current differential relay for transformer protection. In order to cope with the remanent flux at the beginning. the start of saturation of the core is detected and the core flux at the instant is estimated by inserting the differential current into a magnetization curve. Then, this core flux value can be used to calculate the core flux. The proposed relay calculates the core-loss current from the induced voltage and the core-loss resistance; the relay calculates the magnetizing current from the core flux and the magnetization curve. Finally, the relay obtains the modified differential current by subtracting the core-loss current and the magnetizing current from the conventional differential current. The proposed technique not only discriminates magnetic inrush and over-excitation from an internal fault, but also improves the speed of the conventional relay.

To be applied to electrical equipment HTSC tapes have to endure external stress and so on. The critical current density has been shown depending on the mechanical properties. strain and bending stress. AC loss reduction is primary concern in the development of such high-efficiency equipment. AC losses in Bi-2223 silver-sheathed tapes, both single and multi-filamentary, were investigated by means of AC magnetization techniques. The results were compared with the hysteresis loss equation based on Bean model and the eddy current loss equation. The AC loss of the mono-filamentary tape was the hysteresis. On the contrary, the AC loss of the multi-filamentary tape was substantially dominated by the eddy current loss in the Ag matrix.
AMR (Active Magnetic Regenerative) refrigerators require the large variation of the magnetic field and a HTS magnet can be used. The amount of AC loss is very important considering the overall efficiency of the AMR refrigerator. However, it is very hard to estimate the precise loss of the HTS magnet because the magnetic field distribution around the conductor itself depends on the coil configuration and the neighboring HTS wires interact each other through the distorted magnetic field by the screening current Therefore, the AC loss of HTS magnet should be calculated using the whole configuration of the HTS magnet with superconducting characteristic. This paper describes the AC loss of the HTS magnet by an appropriate FEM approach, which uses the non-linear characteristic of HTS conductor. The analysis model is based on the 2-D FEM model, called as 'magnetic field formulation and edge-element model', for whole coil configuration in cylindrical coordinates. The effects of transport current and stacked conductors on the AC loss are investigated considering the field-dependent critical current. The PDE model of 'Comsol multiphysics' is used for the FEM analysis with properly implemented equations for axisymmetric model.

AC transport current losses is an important factor in the development of superconducting tapes and superconducting power applications. In this paper we compared measurement, calculation and Norris equation of AC transport current loss in BSCCO single and multi stacked wire. And present a distribution flux density and current density in the HTS single wire and multi stacked wire. The result of Measurement and calculation of Ac transport current loss show that the same. And show that HTS characteristic of inside HTS wire.

The discrete torque generation mechanism and inherently nonlinear magnetic characterization of switched reluctance motors lead to unacceptable torque ripples and limit the application of these motors. In this study, a phase current profiling technique and torque sharing function are proposed in consideration of magnetic saturation effects and by minimizing power loss in the commutation area between the adjacent phases. Constant torque trajectories are considered in incoming and outgoing phase current planes based on nonlinear T-i-theta curves obtained from experimental measurements. Optimum points on constant torque trajectories are selected by improving drive efficiency and minimizing copper loss in each rotor position. A novel analytic invertible function is introduced to express phase torque based on rotor position and its corresponding phase current. The optimization problem is solved by the proposed torque function, and optimum torque sharing functions are derived. A modification method is also introduced to enhance the torque ripple-free region based on simple logic rules. Compared with conventional torque sharing functions, the resultant reference current from the proposed method has less peak and effective values and exhibits lower copper loss. Experimental and simulation results from a four-phase 4 KW 8/6 SRM validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
When the inter-turn short circuit (ITSC) fault occurs, the distortion of the magnetic field is serious. The motor loss variations of each part are obvious, and the motor temperature field is also affected. In order to obtain the influence of the ITSC fault on the motor temperature distribution, firstly, the normal and the fault finite element models of the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) were established. The magnetic density distribution and the eddy current density distribution were analyzed, and the mechanism of loss change was revealed. The effects of different forms and degrees of the fault on the loss were obtained. Based on the loss analysis, the motor temperature field calculation model was established, and the motor temperature change considering the loop current was analyzed. The influence of the fault on the motor temperature distribution was revealed. The sensitivity factors that limit the motor continuous operation were obtained. Finally, the correctness of the simulation was verified by experiments. The conclusions obtained are of great significance for the fault and high temperature demagnetization of the permanent magnet analysis.
The AC loss is an important issue in the design of the high temperature superconductor (HTS) power cables, which consist of a number of lli 2223 tapes wound on a former. In the cables, the tapes have different critical currents intrinsically. And they are electrically connected to each other and current leads. These make loss measurements considerably complex, especially for short samples of laboratory size. In this work we have prepared a multi-tape conductor composed of Bi-2223 tapes. The at losses of the conductor have experimentally investigated. The loss tests indicate that the effect of tapes critical currents on AC loss measurement in the multi tape conductor is negligible only if currents in the tapes flow uniformly Moreover, the measured tosses of the conductor are in good agreement with the sum of the transport losses in the tapes. However, in the case of non-uniform current distributions, the measured AC losses considerably depend on the current distribution parameter of the positioning of a voltage lead. Thus special cautions should be needed for the measurement of the true AC losses in the short power cable samples.

The Multi D.O.F spherical motor can drive rotating as well as tilting three degree of freedom with one motor. Existing three degree of freedom to drive with three motors that are connected by gears and belts, that will be too large size and big loss at gears and belts. So Reducing system size and improving efficient is using the Multi D.O.F spherical motor in three degree of freedom systems. For this reason, efficiency of Multi D.O.F spherical motor is one of the important performance indiccators. In this paper presented that how to improve the efficiency of the Multi D.O.F spherical motor. The fist of method is using the stator iron core's material with high permeability and resistivity for reducing the eddy current loss. However, it was the disadvatages of motor-making and economic. So author propose the resonable method of reducing the eddy current loss in the stator iron core. That is using the rotor with double-air gap.
