As supply chains are globalized, multinational companies are trying to optimize distribution networks using a hub and spoke structure. In this hub and spoke network structure, multinational companies locate regional distribution centers at hub airports, which serve demands in their corresponding regions. Especially when customers put higher priority on the service lead-time, hinterlands of international hub airports become ideal candidate locations for the regional hub distribution centers. By utilizing excellent airport and logistics services from hub airports, regional distribution centers in the hub airports can match supply with demand efficiently. In addition, regional hub distribution centers may increase air cargo volume of each airport, which is helpful in the current extremely competitive airport industry. In this paper, we classified locational preferences into three primary categories including demand, service and risk and applied the analytic hierarchy process methodology to prioritize factors of locational preferences. Primary preference factors include secondary factors. Demand factor contains access to current and prospect markets. Service factor comprises airport and logistics perspectives. Service factor in terms of airport operations includes secondary factors such as airport service and connectivity. Service factor in terms of logistics operations contains infrastructure and logistics operations efficiency. Risk factor consists of country and business risks. We also evaluated competitiveness of Asian hub airports in terms of candidate location for regional hub distribution centers. The candidate hub airports include Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Narita and Incheon. Based on the analytic hierarchy process analysis, we derived strategic implications for hub airports to attract multinational companies' regional hub distribution centers.

Objectives: Tobacco marketing encourages smoking initiation of non-smokers, especially adolescents, and it hinders quit intention of those who smoke or who attempt to quit smoking. Article 13 of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control(WHO FCTC) requests a comprehensive ban on tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship(TAPS). Ratified the Convention in 2005, Korea has partially implemented the provisions. However, online marketing regulations are still insufficient. Methods: Based on relevant national and international regulations, this research designed monitoring mechanism for online tobacco marketing and studied 1,404 websites to identify current situation of online sales and advertisement of tobacco in Korea. Results: This study found that online trade of tobacco products are overtly conducted, while tobacco advertising with flavoring and misleading descriptors are also prevalent. Also, online tobacco marketing facilitate adolescents' access to tobacco product and that advertising and promotion activities lead to tobacco purchase without difficulties. Conclusions: Fundamental solution to prevent online tobacco advertisement and promotion is banning online sales of tobacco and conducting a regular monitoring for compliance. Korean government should consider establishing an official surveillance system for online tobacco advertisement, followed by a comprehensive ban on TAPS to fulfill its obligation as a Party to the FCTC.

In this study, the present state of fiscal crisis for local governments after IMF is analyzed, firstly. its implications Characteristics of structural reform of finance after IMF bailout in Korea are examined, secondly. Since Korea was shocked by the currency crisis at the end of 1997, its local governments have also faced fiscal difficulties. The Depression of national and local economies led to decreases in tax revenues of local governments. And these shrunken revenues led to their expenditure cuts. Many investment plans were curtailed, and ordinary expenditures were also reduced sharply. The negative influences of the currency crisis on local government's finances can be examined in terms of fiscal revenue, fiscal spending, and debt burden. As a result many local governments are now experiencing fiscal stress, and some of them are even faced with fiscal crisis although the possibility of extreme measures, such as moratoriums or bankruptcies, is very slim. This is due in part to the weight of debt in local governments' budgets having remained small since the debt of local governments has been controlled by the central government. Another reason is that, central government, which functions as a lender of last resort for the local governments, will pay the debt for them. Also, without a legal system which stipulates the adjudication of bankruptcy for municipalities in Korea, local Korean governments have no legal right to declare bankruptcy. Although not a single municipality has fallen into insolvency, yet, this trend will continue to deepen as the recession continues and may lead to a situation where manu local governments fall into virtual bankruptcy in the near future, and its effects on society, as a whole, will be serious. Therefore, measures to prevent and overcome such an extreme situation are necessary, but both short-and long-term policies should be to cope with the current fiscal crisis and to prevent the deepening of the current situation.

The 7th national curriculum is focused on breeding an independent and creative Korean who will lead the age of globalism and information in the 21st century. It is necessary to improve the existing assessment methods in order to develop higher thinking abilities such as creativity and problem-solving skill. Although teachers have been aware of this necessity, they have realized that it is difficult to improve the current assessment methods. In this study, we selected some assessment domains on science learning with literature reviews and case analysis. In addition, we calculated the degree of its importance by the use of Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP). We suggest a direction for improving the present assessment domains on science learning on the basis of the research. Inquiry, cognitive, creative, and affective domain among assessment domains seemed to be listed in order of importance. Moreover, problem-identifying, hypothesizing, and inquiry-planning appeared to be the highest in the degree of importance among sub categories. Considering the results of this study, the current school assessment system which is focused on cognitive domain should be improved.
The rise of eco-friendly personal electric mobility is a worldwide trend and the first Korean-made IT convergence electric skateboard, Youth Board, is developed to lead the trend. Youth Board is remotely controllable using either Youth Wearable Controller or Youth App through Bluetooth v4.0 communication, can speed up to 25 km/hr, and operating time is approximately 1.5 hr. A LED display located in the front side of Youth Board deck shows three different states to a rider for user convenience: remaining battery SOC, current driving speed, and braking amount. Indoor EMC test results between Youth Board and Youth Wearable Controller and outdoor Youth Board driving test results are analyzed. In particular, driving test results show the maximum current output is about 15% lowered compared to the other competitor electric skateboard and it lessens the power burden of the motor ESC. These results show Youth Board's usefulness as a personal mobility in the sense of small, light, and inexpensive aspects.
Background: Radiation therapy is widely employed in the treatment of head and neck cancer. Adverse effects of therapeutic irradiation include delayed bone healing after dental extraction or impaired bone regeneration at the irradiated bony defect. Development of a reliable experimental model may be beneficial to study tissue regeneration in the irradiated field. The current study aimed to develop a relevant animal model of post-radiation cranial bone defect. Methods: A lead shielding block was designed for selective external irradiation of the mouse calvaria. Critical-size calvarial defect was created 2 weeks after the irradiation. The defect was filled with a collagen scaffold, with or without incorporation of bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP-2) (1 ㎍/ml). The non-irradiated mice treated with or without BMP-2-included scaffold served as control. Four weeks after the surgery, the specimens were harvested and the degree of bone formation was evaluated by histological and radiographical examinations. Results: BMP-2-treated scaffold yielded significant bone regeneration in the mice calvarial defects. However, a single fraction of external irradiation was observed to eliminate the bone regeneration capacity of the BMP-2-incorporated scaffold without influencing the survival of the animals. Conclusion: The current study established an efficient model for post-radiation cranial bone regeneration and can be applied for evaluating the robust bone formation system using various chemokines or agents in unfavorable, demanding radiation-related bone defect models.

The CFT (Concrete Filled Steel Tube) columns became popular in high rise building construction due to not only its composite effect but also economic advantage. However, it has been pointed out in various previous researches that the current practice in CFT columns may lead the steel tube to probable local buckling at critical sections of the columns right after yielding. To resolve such a problem, the TR-CFT (Transversely Reinforced Concrete Filled Steel Tube) column is proposed to control or at least delay the local buckling state at the critical section by wrapping the CFT columns with carbon fiber sheet. The validity of the proposed column system is validated through the present paper by observing the experimental performance and comparing it with the analytical prediction of the TR-CFT columns with hish strength concrete. It is also shown that the current design code provisions such as ACI-318, in which the contribution of concrete confining effect filled in steel tube is not appropriately accounted for, may contain too much conservatism.

The main active components of Panax ginseng are ginsenosides. Ginsenoside Rb1 and Rg1 are accepted as marker substances for quality control worldwide. The analytical methods currently used to detect these two compounds unfairly penalize steamed and dried (red) P. ginseng preparations, because it has a lower content of those ginsenosides than white ginseng. To manufacture red ginseng products from fresh ginseng, the ginseng roots are exposed to high temperatures for many hours. This heating process converts the naturally occurring ginsenoside Rb1 and Rg1 into artifact ginsenosides such as ginsenoside Rg3, Rg5, Rh1, and Rh2, among others. This study highlights the absurdity of the current analytical practice by investigating the time-dependent changes in the crude saponin and the major natural and artifact ginsenosides contents during simmering. The results lead us to recommend (20S)- and (20R)-ginsenoside Rg3 as new reference materials to complement the current P. ginseng preparation reference materials ginsenoside Rb1 and Rg1. An attempt has also been made to establish validated qualitative and quantitative analytical procedures for these four compounds that meet International Conference of Harmonization (ICH) guidelines for specificity, linearity, range, accuracy, precision, detection limit, quantitation limit, robustness and system suitability. Based on these results, we suggest a validated analytical procedure which conforms to ICH guidelines and equally values the contents of ginsenosides in white and red ginseng preparations.

Development of technology makes LED an economical option because of lower energy consumption and better environmental impact. Because higher consumer demand the LED market is expanding rapidly due to its environment-friendly advantages. Expansion of LED application, development of various fusion technologies, the emergence of new markets, and the large-scale expansion of markets would lead to a large volume of e-waste generation with valorization potential. Currently, most of the generated waste being that landfilled and incinerated due to the absence of technology and management system. In this paper, we review the current status of LED waste recycling and analyzes the available recycling technologies.

The current web implementation largely falls into process-oriented and object-oriented methods. Both ways implement the programs to be used for simple design of external outfit and auxiliary function of hybrid webs and it might lead to cost problems arising from waste of time and man-power to develop with it. Therefore, managed structural system programming which can be applied under .NET framework is suggested in a bid to solve these problems. The structural system design method under .NET environment by applying CS concept prefers to adopting the optimized design configuration suited to proper interfaces of UI configuration, which offers the environment to maintain the inheritance relationship by taking form of the balanced class allotment by domain, and continue to keep the connectivity between UX and UI which leads to application of interface of UX objects as form of objects through connection with objects in class design process. This development method enables programs to be implemented focused on representation methods of UI and UX, and helps relieve much of the burden on development costs.
