Decorative property of chromium deposition from oxalic acid bath containing chromium oxide and ammonium sulfate, has been examined over a wide range of bath compositions and plating conditions. The followings were determined as optimum bath composition, $CrO_3\;200{\sim}250g/{\ell},\;H_2C_2O_4{\cdot}2H_2O\;500{\sim}700g/{\ell},\;(NH_4){_2}SO_4\;40{\sim}120g/{\ell}$, and operation conditions; pH $2.0{\sim}2.5$, current density of $15{\sim}250Adm^2 $ at the bath temperatures of $30{\sim}80^{\circ}C$. Bright chromium deposits were obtained over a wide range of ammonium sulfate concentration, bath temperature, and current density. The current efficiency decreased with increasing current density and bath pH, and increased with Increasing bath temperature. The highest current efficiency was obtained in the bath containing $80g/{\ell}$ of ammonium sulfate. Bright chromium deposits were not obtained at conditions of all the highest current efficiencies.
The Korean peninsula has a number of coastal sites where the rhythmic rising and lowering of water surface due to tides results in strong tidal current. The kinetic energy of these currents can be efficiently exploited by use of tidal current turbines. The pilot tidal current power plant is to be constructed at the Uldolmok narrow channel between J info and Haenam, Our ins next Year, and extensive coastal engineer ing research works have been carried out. This paper describes and analyzes some observation results of field test about the efficiency of Helical turbine for tidal current power plant. The efficiency of turbine, which is diameter 2.2m and height 2.5m, is evaluated meximum RPM, torque, and current velocity. The tested turbines had the maximum efficiencies of the bounds of 25 to 35% in the current velocity range between 1.4 and 2.6 m/s. This result shows that the pilot tidal current power plant needs three helical turbines with diameter 3.0m and height 3.6m to produce electric power 500kW.
This paper presents the efficiency analysis of a critical current mode interleaved PFC rectifier, in which each of three different semiconductor switches is employed as the active switch. The Si FET, SiC FET, and GaN FET are consecutively used with the prototype PFC rectifier, and the efficiency of the PFC rectifier with each different semiconductor switch is analyzed. An equivalent circuit model of the PFC rectifier, which incorporates all the internal losses of the PFC rectifier, is developed. The rms values of the current waveforms main circuit components are calculated. By adapting the rms current waveforms to the equivalent model, all the losses are broken down and individually analyzed to assess the conduction loss, switching loss, and magnetic loss in the PFC rectifier. This study revealed that the GaN FET offers the highest overall efficiency with the least loss among the three switching devices. The GaN FET yields 96% efficiency at 90 V input and 97.6% efficiency at 240 V, under full load condition. This paper also confirmed that the efficiency of the three switching devices largely depends on the turn-on resistance and parasitic capacitance of the respective switching devices.
On the electrolytic preparation of sodium chlorate, lead dioxide anode, instead of graphite was tested to find out the characteristics for current efficiency and life in various conditions. The results obtained are summerized as follows; 1. The current efficiency is slightly increased with the anode current density, until 25A/$dm^2$ 2. The higher the current concentrations. the lower current efficiencies are observed, particularly in case of both not-adding the potassium dichromate and large current concentration of more than 50A/l 3. The current efficiency may be improved linearly as the both temperature is raised.
In this paper, the equivalent circuit for the efficiency calculation by precise estimation of the linkage flux, inductance and iron loss resistance was calculated accurately. In addition, the driving characteristics according to the current phase angle are analyzed and the maximum efficiency point is calculated. And then, analyzed and experimental values of the efficiency were compared. So, causes of error were expected to be vibration and noise by harmonic distortion of the voltage and current, and mechanical loss of dynamometer. In addition, the driving characteristics according to the current phase angle are analyzed and the maximum efficiency point is calculated.
This paper presents an implementation of direct torque control(DTC) of Reluctance Synchronous Motor(RSM) with an efficiency optimization using the 32bit DSP TMS320C31. The influence of iron loss can not neglected as high speed and precision torque control of RSM, so the optimal current ration between torque current and exiting current analytically derived to drive RSM at maximum efficiency For RSM, torque dynamics can be maintained even with controlling the flux level because the generated torque is direct]y proportional to the stator current. The experimental results for an RSM are presented to validate the applicability of the proposed method. The developed control system is shown high efficiency features with 1.0Kw RSM having 2.57 ratio of d/q reluctance.
In order to improve the current efficiency and reduce the energy consumption in the electrosynthesis of ammonium persulfate, electrolytic properties of a perfluorosulfonic cation exchange membrane named PGN membrane and the $Al_2O_3$ ceramic membrane in the electrosynthesis of ammonium persulfate were studied and compared in a pilot electrolytic cell using a welded platinum titanium as the anode and a Pb-Sb alloy as the cathode. The effect of cell voltage, electrolyte flow rate and electrolysis time of the electrolytes on the current efficiency and the energy consumption were studied. The results indicated that the PGN membrane could improve current efficiency to 95.12% and reduce energy consumption to $1110kWh\;t^{-1}$ (energy consumption per ton of the ammonium persulfate generated) under the optimal operating conditions and the highest current efficiency of the $Al_2O_3$ ceramic membrane was 72.61% with its lowest energy consumption of $1779kWh\;t^{-1}$. Among 5 times of the electrolysis of the electrolytes, the lowest current efficiency of the PGN membrane was 85.25% with the highest energy consumption of $1244kWh\;t^{-1}$ while the lowest current efficiency of the $Al_2O_3$ ceramic membrane was 67.44% with the highest energy consumption of $1915kWh\;t^{-1}$, which suggested the PGN membrane could be used in the 5-stage electrolytic cell for the industrially continuous electrosynthesis of ammonium persulfate. Therefore the PGN membrane can be efficient to improve the current efficiency and reduce the energy consumption and can be applied in the industrial electrosynthesis of ammonium persulfate.
This paper describes a low noise and high efficiency analog-digital switching mixed mode battery charger for production facilities of Li-Ion batteries. The requirements for battery chargers for production facilities are very strict. The accuracy of output voltage and output current should be below 0.1% with very low ripple current. Therefore analog type linear regulators are widely used for battery charger in spite of their inefficiency and bulkiness. We combined linear regulator as a voltage source with digital switching converter as a dependent current source. Low current ripple and high accuracy are obtained by linear regulator while high efficiency is achieved by digital switching converter. Experimental results show that proposed method has 0.1% ripple and 90% efficiency at an output current of 1A for a battery voltage of 4V.
Lead dioxide thin films were electrodeposited on nickel substrate from acidic lead nitrate solution. Current efficiency and thickness measurements, cyclic voltammetry, AFM, SEM, and X-ray diffraction experiments were conducted on $PbO_2$ surface to elucidate the effect of lead nitrate concentration, current density, temperature on the morphology, chemical behavior, and crystal structure. Experimental results showed that deposition efficiency was affected by the current density and solution concentration. The film thickness was independent of current density when deposition from high $Pb(NO_3)_2$ concentration, while it decreased for low concentration and high current density deposition. On the other hand, deposition temperature had negative effect on current efficiency more for lower current density deposition. Cyclic voltammetric study revealed that comparatively more ${\beta}-PbO_2$ produced compact deposits when deposition was carried out from high $Pb(NO_3)_2$ concentration. Such compact films gave lower charge discharge current density during cycling. SEM and AFM studies showed that deposition of regular-size sharp-edge grains occurred for all deposition conditions. The grain size for high temperature and low concentration $Pb(NO_3)_2$ deposition was bigger than from low temperature and high concentration deposition conditions. While cycling converted all grains into loosely adhered flappy deposit with numerous pores. X-ray diffraction measurement indicates that high concentration, high temperature, and high current density favored ${\beta}-PbO_2$ deposition while ${\alpha}-PbO_2$ converted to ${\beta}-PbO_2$ together with some unconverted $PbSO_4$ during cycling in $H_2SO_4$.
Neutral Zinc Electroplating(NZE) utilizing the electrolyte of pH 6 to 8 has advantages in waste treatment and the protection of equipment. NZE is beneficially used in chromating treatment, but the limiting current density and the current efficiency are low. Therefore this study is investigated to analyse the characteristics of NZE and to obtain high current density and current efficiency. The deposition potential of zinc in the NZE bath is about 110mV, which is lower than acidic bath. The current density possibily increases up to 60A/d$\m^2$ in lower complexing agent content and pH 6. More than 90% of cathodic current efficiency was obtained in NZE bath. The NZE morphology shows smaller grains than acidic bath. The addition of 4$m\ell$/1 second brightener gives finer morphology. As pH becomes higher, (002) plan decreases and (100), (101) and (110) planes increase in the no additives solution.
