  • The early detection of hydrogen gas leaks is crucial because of their high explosion risk. Current oxide-semiconductor-based hydrogen sensors are reliant on electrical circuits that may fail during accidents and require high temperatures, thereby raising safety concerns. Thus, there is an urgent need for the development of simpler and more intuitive sensors that can operate at room temperature. This study proposed a hydrogen sensor based on Pd-MoO3 nanowires. The sensor exhibited a visible color change upon exposure to hydrogen at room temperature. The Pd-MoO3 nanowires were synthesized by decorating the surface of hydrothermally produced MoO3 nanowires with 1-5 wt.% Pd. Upon exposure to 5% hydrogen gas at room temperature, all Pd-MoO3 nanowires exhibited distinct color changes (∆E). In particular, the MoO3 nanowires with 3 wt.% Pd (3Pd-MoO3) yielded an exceptionally high ∆E value of over 15 within 10 min. Further, the 3Pd-MoO3 nanowires exhibited a noticeable color change (∆E > 1.6) within 2 min, demonstrating their potential for highly sensitive and rapid hydrogen detection. The outstanding color change of the 3Pd-MoO3 nanowires was attributed to valence changes in both Mo (Mo6+ and Mo5+) and Pd (Pd2+ and Pd0) upon exposure to hydrogen.

  • The current study was conducted to determine the optimum length of feed withdrawal for pre-harvest broilers. A total of three hundred broilers were sampled from an industrial population, and 30 chicks for each weight group (e.g., 1.5 and 2.5 kg) were randomly assigned to feed withdrawal treatments for 0, 3, 6, 9 and 12 h. Weight loss, yield, muscle pH, objective meat color and weights of gastro intestinal contents, crop, gizzard, provenriculus, small intestine, caecum, and rectum were determined. Live weight loss was significantly (p<0.05) increased as length of feed withdrawal extended. A significant (p<0.05) carcass yield for both 1.5 and 2.5 kg groups coincided after 9 and 6 h feed withdrawal, respectively. Net weights of intestinal contents for crop and gizzard were significantly (p<0.05) reduced by 6 h, and the reduction for proventriculus and small intestine occurred from 3 h. A noticeable effect of feed withdrawal on pH for breast muscle at 3 h postmortem occurred only when chicks were fasted for 3 h of which pH (6.05) was significantly (p<0.05) higher than that for other groups including the control (5.74). There was a linear tendency of higher lightness (Hunter L* value) numerically for chicks fasted for longer periods. The highest coefficient of determinations of regression models to estimate weight loss as a function of fasting period and body weights were achieved, when the models included both linear and quadratic terms for fasting period, and linear term for both 1.5 ($R^2=0.76$) and 2.5 kg ($R^2=0.78$) body weight groups. Given the practical aspect, approximately 1.5 kg of body weight is dominant, weight loss could be predicted by the following function; live weight $loss=26.6-0.28{\times}(fasting period)^2+12.34{\times}pasting\;period-0.012{\times}body\;weight$, $R^2=0.76$. Current data implied that the optimum fasting time for pre-slaughter chicks varied depending on slaughter weight; 6 and 9-h fasting were recommendable for 2.5 and 1.5 kg chicks, with little effect on objective meat color.

  • This paper has been studied a method that effectively displaying color image to monochromatic display such as PDA and movable-phone. Generally, the Floyd-Steinberg dithering algorithm has been used in this area and its' effectiveness were well known. But it shows some ugly patterns in white area and also shows some directionality in vertical and horizontal directions. To reduce those directionality, I suggest the error diffusion direction to be rotated randomly according to the bit value of the current position. This can also mitigate some ugly pattern in white area

  • Since chevron alignment sign provides a user with information of road's alignment, it plays an important role in improving the safety aspects of the highway. Currently, it is installed without reasonable design specifications and maintained under insufficient labor and working time. This study, therefore, reviewed the current specifications involving design, installation, shape, and color and several alternatives were generated. The readibility and visibility were chosen as measure of effectiveness to compass these alternatives. Furthermore, spacing of sign was evaluated. The field study resulted that yellow background with black sign was more realible and visible than the other alternatives.

  • The technology and performance of the world-largest 54-inch LCD TV using PVA mode have been introduced from two points of view: one is to manufacture large-size panels, the other is to improve electro-optical performance required for multimedia applications. Current ongoing research activities that have been explored include new stitching design, one drop filling with column spacer, response time less than one frame rate, color performance and light efficiency enhancement.

  • The emission color stability of poly(fluorene) derivatives upon thermal annealing or passage of current in an electroluminescent device is affected by the structure of the main chain polymer unit and particularly by the polymer chain end substituents. Proper attention to these features leads to colorfast blue emission in both photo- and electoluminescence. Furthermore, the spectral emission characteristics can be tuned by the incorporation of various comonomers. Preliminary single layer device studies validate the potential utility of poly(fluorene) homo and copolymers for OLED applications.

  • ITO thin film is generally fabricated by various methods such as spray, CVD, evaporation, electron gun deposition, direct current electroplating, high frequency sputtering, and reactive DC sputtering. However, some problems such as peaks, bumps, large particles, and pin-holes on the surface of ITO thin film were reported, which caused the destruction of color quality, the reduction of device life time, and short-circuit. Chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) process is one of the suitable solutions which could solve the problems.

  • The amount of phenol and NaOH for the colorimetric determination of ammonia in Korean standard methods (KSM) is found to be highly excessive compared to the standard methods of several other countries. The absorbance of indophenol formed by the Berthelot reaction for ammonia analysis was measured under the various reaction conditions classified in experiment groups 1, 2, 3, 4 and KSM and American standards methods (ASM), and the relationships between the absorbance of indophenol and concentration of ammonia were compared. The amount of phenol can be reduced to 10 g (current 25 g in KSM) and NaOH can be reduced to 1.76 g (current 11 g in KSM) for the preparation of 200 mL phenate solution, and the absorbance sensitivity increased. The concentration of the phenol and NaOH correlatively affect the pH of the solution, which is a critical variable in achieving the maximum sensitivity and rapid and stable color development.

  • This study focused on the development of creative materials by applying tapestry to produce original and high-grade dresses with consideration the modems' tendency to place high value on personal taste and style. The development remained sensitive to current trends and attempted to expand into high value-added dresses. Materials in modem fashion design, as a basis of the fashion industry, can lead to a current of new fashion and produce novel and creative ideas by stimulating the designers' creativity. Designers can diversely express a form according to their intention, since tapestry allows the expression of various feelings of texture and forms according to the combination mode of technique, structure and materials on a basic plane. Moreover, tapestry encrourages the development of varied designs because it can effectively display the texture and color of a textile surface through the careful selection of materials even under the same technique. Tapestry can apply forms similar to a textile's basic structure to fashion design and can create high added value with the merit of being 'handmade'.
