p-DCPD were prepared by in-suit ROMP polymerization using $MoCl_5$ and $Et_2AlCl$. The results showed that $MoCl_5:Et_2AlCl:DCPD$ mole ratio of 1:2.0:350 had the curing-time of 60sec and crosslinking degree of 90.44%. The curing time of DCPD polymerization by $MoCl_5/Et_2AlCl$ was shortened, and monomer conversion and crosslinking degree were decreased with temperature and the number of moles of $MoCl_5$ and $Et_2AlCl$. $MoCl_5$ and $Et_2AlCl$ is damaged its function by the reaction with the air in the atmosphere and did't proceed the polymerization properly.
This study investigated the polymerization inhibition effect of latex gloves on addition silicone impression material. Three different kinds of addition silicone impression materials and a natural latex gloves were used in this study. The results were as follows. 1. Compared to the control group, all of those three kinds of impression materials took longer curing time in order of unwashed, alcohol and washed group, on the other hand, degloving group had shorter curing time than control group(p<0.05). 2. By the type of impression materials, there was no significant difference observed between Exafine and Twinz in ungloved group, Exafine and Imprint II in unwashed group, and Exafine and Twinz in degloving group(p>0.05). 3. The degree of polymerization at 6 minutes after mixing impression materials was evaluated by dividing its range into score 1 to 5. All of the impression materials got score 5 in control group and degloving group, which implies perfect polymerization. In unwashed group, most of them appeared to be score 2 while score 3 were most frequently observed in alcohol group and score 4 in washed group. Thus each group showed differences in the degree of polymerization(p<0.05).
The occurrence and physico-chemical properties of flat leaves found in 1997 curing trial related to the prevention of occurrence of flat leaves at bulk curing of flue-cured tobacco were investigated and compared with those of normal leaves. Cured leaves of NC82 were separated into 4 classes of none, slight, fair and severe symptoms of flat leaf by the percentage of flattened parts to whole leaf area. The flat leaves were mostly found among the leaves of lower stalk position, and it was estimated that growth rate of lower leaves also influenced on the occurrence of flat leaves. In chromatic aberration of cured leaf, flat leaves showed remarkably lower b and L values than in those of normals but there was no difference in a value. On the other hand, in chemical analyses of flat leaf samples, nicotine, total sugar, ether extract and total nitrogen contents were decreased with the degree of flat symptoms. In physical properties, filling capacity of cured leaves was decreased with the degree of flat symptoms comparing with those of normal leaves, while shatter index was showed a reverse tendency, and then within the same leaf, flat parts were decreased in total sugar, ether extract and filling capacity compared with those of normal ones, but remarkably increased in shatter index, and there was no difference in nicotine and total nitrogen contents.

This study investigated the thermogravimetric analysis of two types of cured tannin-based adhesives from wattle and pine, with three hardeners of paraformaldehyde, hexamethylenetetramine and TN (tris(hydroxyl)nitromethan), at a temperature of 170℃ and a heating rate of 5, 10, 20 and 40℃/min for 10 minutes. The 5 minutes cured wattle tannin-based adhesive with each hardener at 170℃ was also tested to compare the degree of curing. It was found that thermogravimetric analysis could be used to measure the degree of curing of a thermosetting adhesive. The TG-DTG curves of all the adhesive systems were similar and showed three steps in a similar way to a phenolic resin. This means that each adhesive system is well cross-linked. However, a high thermal decomposition rate was shown at 150 to 400℃ in the case of the pine tannin sample with TN (tris(hydroxyl)nitromethan). The Flynn & Wall expression was used to evaluate the activation energy for thermal decomposition. As the level of conversion (𝛼) increased, the activation energy of each system increased. The activation energy of the wattle tannin-based adhesive with paraformaldehyde was higher than the others.

Newly developed curing units(plasma arc curing units) operate at relatively high intensity and are claimed to result in optimum properties of composite resin in a short curing time. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the microhardness and microleakage at the resin-tooth interface of two types of composite resins polymerized with visible light and plasma arc curing units. The results from the present study can be summarized as follows 1. Microhardness in each depth was shown to be higher in group AHL than AP3 & AP6. Group ZHL was lower than AP6 at surface(p<0.05) and had no statistically significant difference at 1mm and 2mm(p>0.05). In other depths, group ZHL was higher than ZP3 and ZP6(p<0.05). 2. The incremental reduction in microhardness with depth was shown to be in all group except in surface-1mm of group AHL and $1{\sim}2mm$ of group ZHL(p<0.05). 3. Degree of microleakage in all oops were shown to be higher in gingival margin than occlusal margin but no statistically significant difference(p>0.05). 4. Differences between curing methods in microleakage were shown to be no statistically significant difference(p>0.05). 5. Differences between composite resins in microleakage were shown to be no statistically significant differ once(p>0.05).

This study reports the interfacial bond strength between Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC) and Normal Strength Concrete (NSC). While previous studies have focused on the interfacial strength between NSC substrate and UHPC overlay, this study use precast UHPC for enhanced constructability and replacement of formwork. The factors affecting the interface strength are comprehensively reviewed. It can be classified into: interface shape, degree of hardening and moisture condition of UHPC before combining with NSC, and curing condition of composite materials. Conducted experiments verify the effects of each factor on the interface strength and, accordingly show different failure modes. In particular, a new failure mode of the failure of a part of UHPC was firstly found in the case of sample with rough interface between UHPC and NSC. The other factors of the degree of hardening and the moisture and curing conditions of UHPC were discussed. This research will provide a valuable foundation to utilize the UHPC as a composite material.

Objectives: In this study, we evaluated the influence of different radiant exposures provided by single-peak and polywave light-curing units (LCUs) on the degree of conversion (DC) and the mechanical properties of resin cements. Materials and Methods: Six experimental groups were established for each cement (RelyX ARC, 3M ESPE; LuxaCore Dual, Ivoclar Vivadent; Variolink, DMG), according to the different radiant exposures (5, 10, and $20J/cm^2$) and two LCUs (single-peak and polywave). The specimens were made (7 mm in length ${\times}$ 2 mm in width ${\times}$ 1 mm in height) using silicone molds. After 24 hours of preparation, DC measurement was performed using Fourier transform infrared spectrometry. The same specimens were used for the evaluation of mechanical properties (flexural strength, FS; elastic modulus, E) by a three-point bending test. Data were assessed for normality, after which two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and post hoc Tukey's test were performed. Results: No properties of the Variolink cement were influenced by any of the considered experimental conditions. In the case of the RelyX ARC cement, DC was higher when polywave LCU was used; FS and E were not influenced by the conditions evaluated. The LuxaCore cement showed greater sensitivity to the different protocols. Conclusions: On the basis of these results, both the spectrum of light emitted and the radiant exposure used could affect the properties of resin cements. However, the influence was material-dependent.
Objectives: The resin infiltration technique is a promising alternative therapy for arresting the early dental caries. However, there are very few reports on the safety and biocompatibility of this technique. We evaluated various properties of resin infiltrant (RI) based on a triethylene glycol dimethacrylate (TEGDMA).The water sorption (Wsp) and water solubility (Wsl) was assessed. Additionally, the cytotoxicity of RI against both animal and human fibroblast cell lines was investigated. Methods: The RI of the $Icon^{(R)}$, the first product developed for resin infiltration, is mainly composed of TEGDMA in the resin matrix. The Wsp and Wsl for the RI were measured in accordance with ISO 4049 specifications. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) was used for analyzing the polymerization before and after curing of RI. The cytotoxicity of RI against the mouse fibroblasts (L929) and human gingival fibroblasts (hTERT-hNOF) was evaluated using MTT [3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide] assay and the data were analyzed using one-way analysis of variance. Results: Wsp and Wsl of the RI specimens were $53.37{\mu}g/mm^3$ and $10.6{\mu}g/mm^3$, respectively. FTIR analysis revealed a slightly higher degree of curing with longer irradiation time. The degree of conversion for RI was high (80.9%) after 40 seconds of light curing. There was a significant decrease in the viability of L929 and hTERT-hNOF cells at RI extraction solution concentrations above 50%, respectively, compared to that in the negative control (p< 0.05). Conclusions: Even though the RI exhibited positive effect on the early prevention of dental caries, the clinicians should also consider the toxicity of RI on periodontal tissues.
Since a transition from liquid crystal to crystal state is slow for the large photo-reactive liquid crystal molecules, it needs a long time for recrystallization of LC242 molecules when lowering the temperature of the liquid crystal. Although liquid crystals usually align along one direction, the directions of individual liquid crystal molecules are little different from one another with increasing temperature, resulting in changes of birefringence of the liquid crystal films. When the photo-reactive liquid crystals are photo-cured, faster curing kinetics and much larger curing degrees are observed for the films cured at the liquid crystal phase.

The effect of novel N-crotyl-N,N-dimethyl-4-methylanilinium hexafluroantimonate (CMH) curing agent on cure behavior and thermal properties of DGEBA epoxy cationic system was investigated. From DSC measurements of DGEBA/CMH system, it was shown that this system exhibits an excellent thermal latent characteristic in a given temperature and reveals complex cure behavior as indicated by multiple exotherms. The conversion and conversion rate of DGEBA/CMH system increased with increasing the concentration of initiator due to high activity of CMH. Viscoelastic properties during gel formation of DGEBA with CMH were investigated by rheological techniques under isothermal condition. The gel time obtained from the modulus crossover. point t(G')=G", was affected by high curing temperature and concentration of CMH, resulting in high degree of network formation in cationic polymerization. The thermal stabilities were discussed in terms of the activation energy for decomposition and thermal factors determined from TGA measurements.ents.
