The temperature and humidity of 49 greenhouses for oak mushroom cultivation were investigated for 5 years to analyze the trends in the change of these parameters according to the climate change in Korea. The 5-year average temperature and humidity were $24.7^{\circ}C$ and 60.5%, respectively, in sawdust media-based cultivation houses and $24.4^{\circ}C$ and 60.0%, respectively, in log-bed cultivation houses. The average temperature in the summer was $29.8^{\circ}C$ in 2016, $29.1^{\circ}C$ in 2017, and $33.3^{\circ}C$ in 2018 in the log-bed cultivation houses and $26.8^{\circ}C$ in 2016, $20.4^{\circ}C$ in 2017, and $24.2^{\circ}C$ in 2018 in the sawdust media-based cultivation houses. During the investigation, temperatures over $30^{\circ}C$ were detected in one cultivation house in spring and five such houses in summer. When classifying by cultivation type, temperatures over $30^{\circ}C$ were found in five log-bed cultivation houses and temperatures less than $20^{\circ}C$ were found in four log-bed cultivation houses in fall. This study shows that log-bed cultivation houses for oak mushroom need to be modified to cope with the climate change.

This study was carried out to investigate the optimum temperature and the cultivation period according to the different growth stages of Gastrodia elata (G. elata). The growth period for the indoor cultivation of G. elata is divided into four stages that require specific temperatures during the enlargement of the tuber. The optimum temperatures and cultivation periods during the growth stages of G. elata were observed to be $20^{\circ}C$ for 30 days during the mycelial growth stage (MGS), $25^{\circ}C$ for 120 days during the tuber formation stage (TFS), $6-24^{\circ}C$ for 60 days during the tuber enlargement stage (TES), and $5^{\circ}C$ for 30 days during the dormant stage (DS). The total cultivation period was shortened by 120 days in the indoor cultivation facilities by reduction of 30 days from the mycelial growth stage, addition of 30 days to the tuber formation stage, and reduction of 120 days from the dormancy stage as compared to the outdoor field cultivation. These results provide a basis for a growth model that permits year-round cultivation of G. elata.
To establish a cultivation method of Petalonia fascia, seeds and seedlings cultures and growth tests were performed at the Daeri aquafarm in Haeui, Shinan, Jeollanamdo, Korea. Gametes were easily released from the mature plurilocular sporangia. They developed to crustose discoidal stolons and grew to filamentous and discoidal stolons. The indoor seeding was performed by using the 100-150 ${\mu}m$long fragments of stolons on Porphyra nets and the erect thalli developed from the cuttings when the seawater temperatures were 10-15$^{\circ}C$. In the experimental cultivation in the sea, 1-2mm long plantlets were found after 15 days of cultivation; after two months thalli grew to their maximal size of 215-355 mm long blades; after three months the length of thalli began to decrease due to distal disintegration and the plant color changed to yellow and epiphytic diatoms were attached on the thalli, which deteriorated the quality of products. The cultivation of P. fascia by the regeneration of filamentous-discoidal complexes was carried out successfully for the first time in Korea.
Sterilization of oak sawdust at $65^{\circ}C$ for Lentinula edodes bed cultivation can be efficient in sterilization facility cost, but its effect on the mushroom production is uncertain due to high contamination probability. The effective conditions for L. edodes hyphal growth in the low temperature sterilized oak sawdust were investigated with combinations of three sterilization temperatures ($65^{\circ}C$, $100^{\circ}C$ and $121^{\circ}C$) and four cultivation temperatures ($15^{\circ}C$, $20^{\circ}C$, $25^{\circ}C$, and $30^{\circ}C$). L. edodes inoculation density effect was also tested with 1 cm, 2 cm, and 4 cm distance in the sawdust (4%, 11% and 25% inoculation rate by surface area). L. edodes hyphal growth in the sawdust sterilized at $65^{\circ}C$ was as much as at those $100^{\circ}C$ and $121^{\circ}C$ when the fungus cultured below $25^{\circ}C$, but it was greatly reduced when cultured at $30^{\circ}C$. And the sawdust medium with 1cm distance inoculation density was fully occupied with L. edodes hyphae, but those with 2~4cm distance inoculation were contaminated by 4~33%. Therefore, we conclude that low temperature sterilized oak sawdust needs to be cultured under $25^{\circ}C$ after sufficient inoculation by 25% for successful bed cultivation of L. edodes.
Changes of fruiting body yield and morphology according to growing temperatures in Pleurotus strains were investigated. In this study, twelve commercial strains divided into low, medium and high temperature groups were tested. On the basis of fruiting body yield, they showed best in their own temperature properties. On the other hand, they didn't have any fixed tendency to growing temperatures on morphological characteristics. Thicknesses of pilei were best at $10^{\circ}C$, having nothing to do with strains. Lengths of stipes were increased with the progress of cultivation temperatures in five strains including 'Sambok'. The other strains showed differences on this trait. Thicknesses of stipes were decreased with the progress of cultivation temperatures in other strains excepting 'Sambok and ASI2029'. Days for harvest were extended as temperature decreased, even though the shortest days were different according to strains. Sometimes there were abnormal shapes of fruiting bodies in response to temperatures in some strains. In 'Suhan-1', white cilia fully covered onto the surface of pilei were observed macroscopically at the early stage and then disappeared or remained a little later at $10^{\circ}C$ cultivation. In 'Chunchu-2', their stipes were twisted and bent over $20^{\circ}C$ cultivation.
The processing of rice is one of the measures to expand the scope of rice use in response to the decrease in rice consumption. Since the main ingredient of rice processing is rice flour, "rice flour varieties" have been bred with the aim to improve the productivity and quality of rice flour. In order to study the variation in the ripening characteristics of rice flour varieties with respect to temperature, the average temperature after heading date was set at 28℃ (33/23℃), 22℃ (27/17℃), and 18℃ (23/13℃) inside the phytotron. We used Saenuri as non-glutinous rice variety, Seolgaeng as soft-type rice flour variety, and Baromi2 as powdered rice flour variety. At high temperatures (28℃), the grain weight of Baromi2 decreased by 21%. Its starch content also decreased by more than 10%, which was significantly lower than that of Saenuri and Seolgaeng. At low temperatures (18℃), the grain weight and starch content slightly increased or were similar in all varieties. An analysis of changes in the grain weight due to effective accumulated temperature through the sigmoid function showed that the velocity of grain-filling slowed significantly when Baromi2 was exposed to low temperature during the ripening stage compared to the other varieties. Therefore, the transplanting time of Baromi2 should be delayed to avoid high temperatures during the ripening stage. However, because the ripening period is not properly secured under low temperature conditions, grain filling may not be sufficient.

Saccharina sculpera is highly valued for human consumption and value-added products. However, natural resources of this kelp have decreased sharply and it is in danger of extinction. Resources recovery through cultivation is being trialed to enable the sustainable use of this species. In this study, the temperature range for survival and optimal growth of juvenile S. sculpera was identified and applied to field cultivation. This study investigated the survival and growth of juvenile S. sculpera under six temperatures (i.e., 5, 10, 15, 16, 18, and 20℃) and two light intensities (i.e., 20 and 40 µmol photons m-2 s-1) in an indoor culture experiment. In these experiments, the blade length decreased at 16℃ under the both light intensities. The thalli died at 20℃ and 20 µmol photons m-2 s-1, and at 18-20℃ and 40 µmol photons m-2 s-1. During the field cultivation, early growth of S. sculpera was highest at the 5 m depth and growth decreased as the water depth increased. When the initial rearing depth was maintained without adjustment throughout the cultivation period (from December to October), all the cultivated S. sculpera plants died during August and September. However, S. sculpera plants lowered from 5 to 15 m and grew to 90.8 ± 13.1 cm in July. The seawater temperature at 15 m depth was similar to the upper level of thermal tolerance demonstrated by juvenile S. sculpera in the indoor culture experiments (16℃ or lower). The plants were subsequently lowered to 25 m depth in August, which eventually led to their maturation in October. The present study confirmed that improved growth rates and a delay in biomass loss can be achieved by adjusting the depth at which the seaweeds are grown during the cultivation period. These results will contribute to the establishment of sustainable cultivation systems for S. sculpera.
Sweet persimmon (Diospyros kaki Thunb.) is widely cultivated in the southern part of Korea and its cultivation is increasing. However, anthracnose disease caused by Colletotricuhum species is one of the major hinderances to the cultivation and production of sweet persimmon. Therefore, in the current study, PCR was used to specifically detect Colletotrichum spp., based on the sequences of the ITS II regions in the rDNA. Using the sequence data, CO-1 was designated to detect Colletotrichum together the with ITS 4 primer. The result showed that a single segment of ca. 500 bp was observed only in Colletotrichum, but not in any other fungal and bacterial isolates. The annealing temperatures and template DNA quantites were also investigated to identify optimal conditions for detection. Using these species-specific primers, a unique band was obtained at annealing temperatures ranging from $55^{\circ}C\;and\;61^{\circ}C$ and template DNA levels from 10 pg- $10{\mu}g$.
$C_{60}$ is widely investigated because of its unique structure. But its applications in solid propellant seem to be relatively neglected. $C_{60}$ has more outstanding features than carbon black which is widely used as a catalyst ingredient of solid propellant. To combine the advantages of fullerene and lead salts, another good composite in propellant catalysts, we synthesized a kind of fullerene phenylalanine lead salt (FPL) and explored its thermal performances by differential thermal analysis (DTA) and thermogravimetry analysis (TGA). The results show it undergoes four exothermic processes started from 408 K. Combined TGA and X-ray diffractometer (XRD), the decomposition mechanism of FPL was derived by TG-IR and comparing IR spectra of FPL and its residues after burned to $327^{\circ}C$, $376^{\circ}C$ and $424^{\circ}C$, respectively. Effect of FPL on the decomposition characteristic of hexogen (RDX), a type of explosive in propellant, has been investigated using DTA at different heating rate, which shows the decomposition temperatures of the explosive are all reduced by more than 20 K. The corresponding activation energy ($E_a$) is decreased by $30kJ{\cdot}mol^{-1}$. So FPL has potential application as a combustion catalyst in solid propellant.
