  • Evaluation of cube roots in characteristic three finite fields is required for Tate (or modified Tate) pairing computation. The Hamming weights (the number of nonzero coefficients) in the polynomial representations of $x^{1/3}$ and $x^{2/3}$ determine the efficiency of cube roots computation, where $F_{3^m}$is represented as $F_3[x]/(f)$ and $f(x)=x^m+ax^k+b{\in}F_3[x]$ (a, $b{\in}F_3$) is an irreducible trinomial. O. Ahmadi et al. determined the Hamming weights of $x^{1/3}$ and $x^{2/3}$ for all irreducible trinomials. In this paper, we present formulas for cube roots in $F_{3^m}$ using the shifted polynomial basis(SPB). Moreover, we provide the suitable shifted polynomial basis bring no further modular reduction process.

  • As the communication industry develops, the development of SoC (System on Chip) is increasing. Accordingly, the paradigm of technology design of industries and companies is changing. In the existing process, companies purchased micro-architecture, but now they purchase ISA (Instruction Set Architecture), and companies design the architecture themselves. RISC-V is an open instruction set based on a reduced instruction set computer. RISC-V is equipped with ISA, which can be expanded through modularization, and an expanded version of ISA is currently being developed through the support of global companies. In this paper, we present benchmarking frameworks ARIA, LEA, and PIPO of Korean block ciphers in RISC-V. We propose implementation methods and discuss performance by utilizing the basic instruction set and features of RISC-V.

  • The enormous prevalence of transferring official confidential digital documents via the Internet shows the urgent need to deliver confidential messages to the recipient without letting any unauthorized person to know contents of the secret messages or detect there existence . Several Steganography techniques such as the least significant Bit (LSB), Secure Cover Selection (SCS), Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) and Palette Based (PB) were applied to prevent any intruder from analyzing and getting the secret transferred message. The utilized steganography methods should defiance the challenges of Steganalysis techniques in term of analysis and detection. This paper presents a novel and robust framework for color image steganography that combines Linear Congruential Generator (LCG), simulated annealing (SA), Cesar cryptography and LSB substitution method in one system in order to reduce the objection of Steganalysis and deliver data securely to their destination. SA with the support of LCG finds out the optimal minimum sniffing path inside a cover color image (RGB) then the confidential message will be encrypt and embedded within the RGB image path as a host medium by using Cesar and LSB procedures. Embedding and extraction processes of secret message require a common knowledge between sender and receiver; that knowledge are represented by SA initialization parameters, LCG seed, Cesar key agreement and secret message length. Steganalysis intruder will not understand or detect the secret message inside the host image without the correct knowledge about the manipulation process. The constructed system satisfies the main requirements of image steganography in term of robustness against confidential message extraction, high quality visual appearance, little mean square error (MSE) and high peak signal noise ratio (PSNR).

  • The IoT market continues to expand and grow, but the security threat to IoT devices is also increasing. However, it is difficult to apply the security technology applied to the existing system to IoT devices that have a problem of resource limitation. Therefore, in this paper, we present a service that can improve the security of IoT devices by presenting authentication and lightweight cryptographic algorithms that can reduce the overhead of applying security features, taking into account the nature of resource limitations of IoT devices. We want to apply these service to home network IoT equipment to provide security. The authentication and lightweight cryptographic algorithm application protocols presented in this paper have secured the safety of the service through the use of LEA encryption algorithms and secret key generation by users, IoT devices and server in the IoT environment. Although there is no difference in speed from randomly generating secret keys in experiments, we verify that the problem of resource limitation of IoT devices can be solved by additionally not applying logic for secret key sharing to IoT devices.

  • To securely protect users' sensitive information and national secrets, the importance of cryptographic modules has been emphasized. Currently, many companies and national organizations are actively using cryptographic modules. In Korea, To ensure the security of these cryptographic modules, the cryptographic module has been verified through the Korea Certificate Module Validation Program(KCMVP). Most of the domestic cryptographic modules are CPU-based software (S/W). However, CPU-based cryptographic modules are difficult to use in servers that need to process large amounts of data. In this paper, we propose an S/W cryptographic module that provides a high-speed operation using GPU. We describe the configuration and operation of the S/W cryptographic module using GPU and present the changes in the cryptographic module security requirements by using GPU. In addition, we present the performance improvement compared to the existing CPU S/W cryptographic module. The results of this paper can be used for cryptographic modules that provide cryptography in servers that manage IoT (Internet of Things) or provide cloud computing.

  • A scalable ECC architecture with high scalability and flexibility between performance and hardware complexity is proposed. For architectural scalability, a modular arithmetic unit based on a one-dimensional array of processing element (PE) that performs finite field operations on 32-bit words in parallel was implemented, and the number of PEs used can be determined in the range of 1 to 8 for circuit synthesis. A scalable algorithms for word-based Montgomery multiplication and Montgomery inversion were adopted. As a result of implementing scalable ECC processor (sECCP) using 180-nm CMOS technology, it was implemented with 100 kGEs and 8.8 kbits of RAM when NPE=1, and with 203 kGEs and 12.8 kbits of RAM when NPE=8. The performance of sECCP with NPE=1 and NPE=8 was analyzed to be 110 PSMs/sec and 610 PSMs/sec, respectively, on P256R elliptic curve when operating at 100 MHz clock.

  • The Internet of Things (IoT) is a technology that offers lucrative services in various industries to facilitate human communities. Important information on people and their surroundings has been gathered to ensure the availability of these services. This data is vulnerable to cybersecurity since it is sent over the internet and kept in third-party databases. Implementation of data encryption is an integral approach for IoT device designers to protect IoT data. For a variety of reasons, IoT device designers have been unable to discover appropriate encryption to use. The static support provided by research and concerned organizations to assist designers in picking appropriate encryption costs a significant amount of time and effort. IoTES is a web app that uses machine language to address a lack of support from researchers and organizations, as ML has been shown to improve data-driven human decision-making. IoTES still has some weaknesses, which are highlighted in this research. To improve the support, these shortcomings must be addressed. This study proposes the "IoTES with Security" model by adding support for the security level provided by the encryption algorithm to the traditional IoTES model. We evaluated our technique for encryption algorithms with available security levels and compared the accuracy of our model with traditional IoTES. Our model improves IoTES by helping users make security-oriented decisions while choosing the appropriate algorithm for their IoT data.

  • A Post-Quantum Cryptographic algorithm NTRU, which is designed by considering the computational power of quantum computers, satisfies the mathematically security level. However, it should consider the characteristics of side-channel attacks such as power analysis attacks in hardware implementation. In this paper, we verify that the private key can be recovered by analyzing the power signal generated during the decryption process of NTRU. To recover the private keys, the Simple Power Analysis (SPA), Correlation Power Analysis (CPA) and Differential Deep Learning Analysis (DDLA) were all applicable. There is a shuffling technique as a basic countermeasure to counter such a power side-channel attack. Neverthe less, we propose a more effective method. The proposed method can prevent CPA and DDLA attacks by preventing leakage of power information for multiplication operations by only performing addition after accumulating each coefficient, rather than performing accumulation after multiplication for each index.

  • Internet of Things (IoT) connects devices with various platforms, computing power, and functions. Due to the diversity of networks and the ubiquity of IoT devices, demands for security and privacy are increasing. Therefore, cryptographic mechanisms must be strong enough to meet these increased requirements, while at the same time effective enough to be implemented in devices with long-range specifications. In this paper, we present the performance and memory limitations of modern cryptographic primitives and schemes for different types of devices that can be used in IoT. In addition, detailed performance evaluation of the performance of the most commonly used encryption algorithms in low-spec devices frequently used in IoT networks is performed. To provide data protection, the binary ring uses encryption asymmetric fully homomorphic encryption and symmetric encryption AES 128-bit. As a result of the experiment, it can be seen that the IoT device had sufficient performance to implement a symmetric encryption, but the performance deteriorated in the asymmetric encryption implementation.
