A Study on the Change of Work and Improvement in the Private Forest Road of Chungcheongnam Province (충청남도 민유임도에 적용된 공종의 변화 및 개선방안에 관한 연구)

  • In my study, I analysed and criticised the change of applied works based on a design drawing of a private forest road in Chungchengnam province from 1990 to 2003. The aim of this study is to obtain the fundamental resources for establishment the green forest road which is environment friendly. Working expenses of forest road was gradually increased by a business year. In particular, the working expenses dramatically increased in 1999-2000. In change rate of cost of construction by works, earth work rate of the cost of constructions was declined: from 25.4% in 1990-1999, to 18.5% in 2000-2003. However, the total cost of the construction of slope protection work and structural work increased. Nevertheless the rate of the cost of constructions are not increased where as the earth work rate of the cost of constructions were reduced. The rate of the price construction materials and the cost of construction was the main causes which was led by the extension of the standard requirement of applied work and the increase of the materials of applied work. In other word, materials of structural work and slope protection work increased. If the increase of the cost of construction has seem through the increase of contractual materials and extension of the standard requirement would led to weak competitiveness of forest road. Therefore, diverse method of constructions need to apply and a new method should be developed.

An Analysis of the 2014 Pricing Guide for Technical Service Contracts through Comparison with Foreign Countries' Cases (해외사례 비교를 통한 2014년 개정 건설기술용역 대가기준 분석)

  • Enhancing clarity and transparency of the pricing guide for technical services for public construction works enables the prediction and reimbursement of the service cost for project owners and bidders, while it would also yield benefits for engineers who carry out the construction tasks. In order to improve the global competitiveness of construction service industry, the government revised its pricing guide for techical services for construction works recently, moving away from its previous percentage-of-construction-cost method towards the Cost Plus a Fee Method. However, since the Cost Plus a Fee Method results in the rise of the service price by 153%~197%, there is the need for a review on the method and basis of the adjustment in order to avoid controversies regarding the application of the revised method. In this context, this paper analysed the 2014 revision of the pricing guide for technical services for public construction works through comparison with foreign cases including those of the US and the UK. The analysis yielded the conclusion that, while the shift towards Cost Plus a Fee Method which is widely used in advanced economies is a very meaningful change in large measure, certain aspects still remain problematic. Unlike in advanced economies, the detailed break-down shows the direct labor cost includes certain indirect expenses. Also, indirec expenses are admitted so comprehensively as to include overhead costs and technology royalties. These problems results in redundant estimation of certain expenses, and obstructs transparency in spending details. This paper proposes various improvement measures to address these issues.

  • The main purpose of this study is to design the port marketing strategies for strengthening the competitive power of container terminal. So far many attempts have been made to analyze the international competitiveness of the terminal. Six factors hypothesized by this study come from previous research analyses about customers preference for port selection. Those are Cost Centrality and Intermediacy Free trade port Inland transportation connections Political and Economic institution and Port facilities. this study analyzes the most important factors about hob port and transhipment port separately through questionnaire analysis about users(shipper shipping company and freight forwarder) influencing on port selection.   • Railroad is considered a representative echo-friendly mode, but there are many civil complaints due to dusts arising in the process of bulk cargo transportation. The freight station which is handling coal are slowly decreasing because of civil complaints. Generally gondolas and hopper cars kinds of freight cars have a role to carry coal such as anthracite and bituminous coal. The railroad competitiveness in the field of bulk cargo transportation is diminishing because there are cost increase and dust emission in the process of transshipment. In this study, we analysed the logistics process of bulk cargo transportation in the point of railroad and we could draw the problems from the logistics process. The results could be used to study various alternatives to improve the process of coal transportation.

  • An effective use of information and communications technology is thought of as critical for achieving corporate competitiveness. This study identifies patterns of corporate use of communications technology, and examines how the use of those technologies is associated with business strategies and the level of information intensity. A survey study on a sample of Korean corporations shows that the use of communications technology is closely related both to business strategy and information intensity, and that communications technologies can be divided into two types in terms of their usage pattern. The structured communication technology is found to be related to the tools and services that support structured tasks, and the The unstructured technology to the tools the use of which is less structured and more flexible. Cost-based strategy is found to be closely related to the use of structured communication technology, while differentiation strategy is closely related to the use of unstructured communication technology.

  • Higher productivity and less cost during the manufacturing process of ships are required to maintain international competitiveness of modern shipbuilding industries. The integrated hull/ outfitting/ painting scheduling(IHOP) process is a final point, where logistics are finally being integrated and upcoming schedules are made. Therefore, more profits are expected from IHOP by effective management. In this thesis, IHOP is proposed in order to solve how to choose block erection date with IHOP scheduling logic. The result of IHOP scheduling is highly advised to utilize fabrication, outfitting shops. A standardized operation and load of resource will eventually be applied in long-term time span point of view for this will make it easy to enable capacity planning and workforce planning. It is also expected to eliminate inefficiency in overtime work and efficiently utilize manpower in short-term.

  • To achieve rapid developments and ensure competitiveness, cost saving, digital manufacturing is essential in die shops. Digital Manufacturing is a technology to facilitate effective product developments and agile productions by digital environments representing the physical and logical schema and the behavior of real manufacturing system including manufacturing resources, processes and products. For applying digital manufacturing to die shop, engineering information managements of products, manufacturing process and resources are needed. In this paper proposes and implements, PLM approach for achieving engineering collaborations in engineering activities. We suggest detail procedures, some examples and considerations of PPR managements in die shop.

  • Besides strong customer orientation, today's companies should respond increasingly to a market getting worse for securing competitiveness with a diversity of product spectrum. In these new conditions in the surrounding field of manufacturing, the changeability of manufacturing system develops more and more to the key success factor. The following contributions introduce a fast and cost-efficient concept for changeover which bases on a modular system's architecture. The modular structure of manufacturing system allows the required changing processes with limited side effects on other modules. Based on a modular concept, manufacturing systems can be easily configured and reconfigured to specific requirements.

  • A nation's technology policy is based on the broad principles that govern the allocation of its technological resources. But the cost of inadequate investments in technology development is particularly high in today's global1y-competitive environment where continued technological advancements are critical to sustain. This paper presents a methodology for searching the new and /or advanced technologies to promote Korea's technological and economic competitiveness by industrial technology policy. The conceptual framework of industrial technology development, which is the main focus of this Paper, was designed using both Top-down and Bottom-up approach And the technology classification system was modified reviewing the previous it's system. Supporting the technology input are three key technology elements; proprietary technology, generic technology, infratechnology Competitive survival in any advanced economy will depend upon technology-based strategies that emphasize the integration of these elements of industrial technology.

  • Manufacturing companies' cost competitiveness with respect to equipment management can be achieved by satisfying additional market demands by their own capacity without purchasing additional equipments. In essence, it can be accomplished by making continuous investigation into bottlenecks and improvement on them. Therefore, equipment performance measure systems should be designed so that they can support manufacturing companies' such endeavors. With the purpose of establishing an effective equipment performance measurement system for detecting and improving bottlenecks, this study (1) suggests some desirable features that such a system should have, (2) evaluates conventional equipment performance measurement systems in terms of their usefulness for the detection and improvement of bottlenecks, and (3) proposes an improved system. We also perform a simulation experiment to demonstrate the limitations of the conventional systems and show how the proposed system can resolve the problems.
