  • The SIFT algorithm is being actively researched for various image processing applications including video surveillance and autonomous vehicle navigation. The computation of sin/cos function is the most cost part needed in whole computational complexity and time for SIFT descriptor. In this paper, we implement a hardware to sin/cos function of descriptor on sift feature detection algorithm. The proposed Sin/Cosine processor is coded in Verilog and synthesized and simulated using Xilinx ISE 9.2i. The processor is mapped onto the device Spartan 2E (XC2S200E-PQ208-6). It consumes 149 slices, 233 LUTs and attains a maximum operation frequency of 60.01 MHz. As compared with the software realization, our FPGA circuit can achieve the speed improvement by 40 times in average.

  • To prepare chitosan-based polymeric amphiphiles that can form nanosized core-shell structures (nanoparticles) in aqueous milieu, chitosan oligosaccharides (COSs) were modified chemically with hydrophobic cholesterol groups. The physicochemical properties of the hydrophobized COSs (COSCs) were investigated by using dynamic light scattering and fluorescence spectroscopy. The feasibility of applying the COSCs to biomedical applications was investigated by introducing them into a gene delivery system. The COSCs formed nanosized self-aggregates in aqueous environments. Furthermore, the physicochemical properties of the COSC nanoparticles were closely related to the molecular weights of the COSs and the number of hydrophobic groups per COS chain. The critical aggregation concentration values decreased upon increasing the hydrophobicity of the COSCs. The COSCs efficiently condensed plasmid DNA into nanosized ion-complexes, in contrast to the effect of the unmodified COSs. An investigation of gene condensation, performed using a gel retardation assay, revealed that $COS6(M_n=6,040 Da)$ containing $5\%$ of cholesteryl chloroformate (COS6C5) formed a stable DNA complex at a COS6C5/DNA weight ratio of 2. In contrast, COS6, the unmodified COS, failed to form a stable COS/DNA complex even at an elevated weight ratio of 8. Furthermore, the COS6C5/DNA complex enhanced the in vitro transfection efficiency on Human embryonic kidney 293 cells by over 100 and 3 times those of COS6 and poly(L-lysine), respectively. Therefore, hydrophobized chitosan oligosaccharide can be considered as an efficient gene carrier for gene delivery systems.

  • This paper describes how to port the eCos operating system and PROFINET communication stack developed based on gcc to the IAR compiler. The eCos operating system provides basic functions such as multi-thread, TCP/IP, and device driver for PROFINET operation, so there is no need to change it when developing PROFINET applications. Therefore, in this study, we reuse an eCos library built with gcc and it link with PROFINET communication stack that are ported to IAR complier. Due to the different of the gcc and IAR linker, symbol definitions and address of the constructors should be changed using the external tool that generates symbol definitions and address of the constructors from MAP file. In order to verify the proposed method, it was confirmed that the actual I/O was operating normally through PROFINET IRT communication by connecting to the Siemens PLC. IAR compiler has better performance in both the compile time and the size of the generated binary. The proposed method in this study is expected to help port various open sources as well as eCos and PROFINET communication stacks to other compilers.

  • The present study investigated the antimetastatic property of chitosan oligosaccharides (COS) by evaluating motility, invasion, and the amount and activity of MMP-9 in MDA-MB-231 human breast carcinoma cells. Treatment of MDA-MB-231 cells with increasing concentrations of COS led to a concentration-dependent decrease in cell migration. COS significantly inhibited the invasion of MDA-MB-231 cells through a Matrigel-coated membrane. The treatment of MDA-MB-231 cells with COS reduced the amounts of secreted MMP-9. The activity and amount of MMP-9 protein in MDA-MB-231 cells were decreased by treatment with COS and occurred in a concentration-dependent manner. Our data indicated that COS can serve as a potential novel therapeutic candidate for the treatment of metastatic breast cancer.

  • The effect of chitosan oligosaccharide (COS, 1 kDa${\gamma}$, 10 ng/ml IL-$1{\alpha}$, and 25 ng/ml TNF-${\alpha}$) in HT-29 cells. Inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) expression induced by these cytokines was inhibited by COS. COS pretreatment inhibited the invasiveness of cytokines-treated HT-29 cells through Matrigel-coated membrane in a dose-dependent manner. COS also inhibited cytokines-induced matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-2 activity. This study shows that proinflammatory cytokines induce NO production, iNOS expression, and invasiveness of human colorectal adenocarcinoma HT-29 cells. COS pretreatment inhibited cytokines-mediated NO production, iNOS expression, and invasiveness of HT-29 cells. These results provide sufficient information for the further development of COS as an antitumor metastatic agent for the treatment of colon cancer.

  • This study introduces the control of duration time of impulse noises emitted from a high voltage COS fuse of a transformer. When a high voltage COS fuse becomes a short circuit by the over current, the peak sound pressure level over 150 dB(A) is generated at the distance of 2m from a COS Fuse. For the purpose of the reduction of impulse noise, in this study, the reactive type silencer has been utilized. And also electrical interrupting test was experimented. From the experimental results, the reactive type silencer has been shown to have the noise reduction of about 13 dB(A). It has been found that the electrical interception performance of the COS fuse was related to the control of the duration time of impulse noise.

  • We are using COS to purpose blocking the excess current and to protect the transformer. But the fuse of COS is melt due to the overload if the excess current flows and it destroy an air severing relations to clear as strong arc happens. Such phenomenon induces an impact ambient noise and it gives the circumstance area resident or pedestrian the fear. Thus, We are the actual circumstances which an ambient noise countermeasure establishment have desired urgently. In this study, we grasp the characteristic of an impact ambient noise which a COS fuse happens the melting and study the method to reduce an impact ambient noise.

  • In the present investigation we have studied the effect of bear's gall on mammalian cells and demonstrated that COS-7 cells, which were derived Monkey kidney cells, had shown almost same extent of growth with 78 hrs in 10% FCS Dulbecco's Modified Eagle's medium with bear's gall and without bear's gall. But the hybridoma cells which were fused murine myeloma cells and the rat spleen cells for monoclonal antibody production died almost within 48 hrs. To investigate the effect of biosynthetic mechanism, cDNA were transfected to COS-7 cells, and it was shown that cDNA-transfected COS-7 cell had produced 30-40% less the amount of recombinant protein than the medium without bear's gall.
