This study investigates Ag coated $Cu_2O$ nanoparticles that are produced with a changing molar ratio of Ag and $Cu_2O$. The results of XRD analysis reveal that each nanoparticle has a diffraction pattern peculiar to Ag and $Cu_2O$ determination, and SEM image analysis confirms that Ag is partially coated on the surface of $Cu_2O$ nanoparticles. The conductive paste with Ag coated $Cu_2O$ nanoparticles approaches the specific resistance of $6.4{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ for silver paste(SP) as $(Ag)/(Cu_2O)$ the molar ratio increases. The paste(containing 70 % content and average a 100 nm particle size for the silver nanoparticles) for commercial use for mounting with a fine line width of $100{\mu}m$ or less has a surface resistance of 5 to $20{\mu}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$, while in this research an Ag coated $Cu_2O$ paste has a larger surface resistance, which is disadvantageous. Its performance deteriorates as a material required for application of a fine line width electrode for a touch panel. A touch panel module that utilizes a nano imprinting technique of $10{\mu}m$ or less is expected to be used as an electrode material for electric and electronic parts where large precision(mounting with fine line width) is not required.
Steel slag has been considered as an industrial waste. A huge amount of slag is produced as a byproduct and the steel slag usually has been dumped in a landfill site. However the steel slag contains valuable resources such as iron, copper, manganese, and magnesium. Superconducting magnetic separation has been applied on recovery of the valuable resources from the steel slag and this process also has intended to reduce the waste to be dumped. Cryo-cooled Nb-Ti superconducting magnet with 100 mm bore and 600 mm of height was used as the magnetic separator. The separating efficiency was evaluated in the function of magnetic field. A steel slag was ground and analyzed for the composition. Iron containing minerals were successfully concentrated from less iron containing portion. The separation efficiency was highly dependent on the particle size giving higher separating efficiency with finer particle. The magnetic field also effects on the separation ratio. Current study showed that an appropriate grinding of slag and magnetic separation lead to the recovery of metal resources from steel slag waste rather than dumping all of the volume.

Copper (II) and Nickel (II) mimic complexes of enzyme carbonic anhydrase were evaluated under ambient condition for carbon dioxide capture and conversion process. The synthesized complexes were characterized by ATR-FTIR and UV-DR spectroscopy. It was found that all the complexes have biomimetic activity towards $CO_2$ using para-nitrophenyl acetate (p-NPA) hydrolysis as the model reaction. Interestingly, the proper geometry obtained by the restricted orientation of tripodal N atoms in Cu (II) complex of 2,6-bis(2-benzimidazolyl) pyridine showed the highest activity (1.14 au) compared to others. The $CO_2$ bio-mineralization to $CaCO_3$ was carried out via in-vitro crystallization approach. Results indicate that the biomimetic complexes have a role in determining $CaCO_3$ morphology. The present observations establish a qualitative insight for the design of improved small-molecule catalysts for carbon capture.
A triboelectrostatic separation system for removing unburned carbon from coal fly ash is designed and evaluated. Fly ash from a coal-fired power plant is used as an accepted additive in concrete where it adds strength, sulfate resistance and reduced cost, provided acceptable levels of unburned carbon are maintained. Unfortunately, unburned carbon in coal fly ash absorbs some of other additives and reduces the concrete strength. This paper describes to investigate dry triboelectrostatic process to separate unburned carbon from coal fly ash and utilize it into economically valuable products. The laboratory-scale triboelectrostatic separation system consists of a particle feeding system, a tribocharger, a separation chamber, and collection systems. Particles of unburned carbon and fly ash can be imparted positive and negative surface charges, respectively, with a copper tribocharger due to differences in the work function values of the particles and the tribocharger, and can be separated by passing them through an external electric field. Results showed that fly ash recovery was strongly dependent on the electric field strength and the particle size. 70wt% of fly ash containing 6.5wt% of carbon contents could be recovered at carbon contents below 3%. The triboelectrostatic separation system showed a potential to be an effective method for removing unburned carbon from coal fly ash.

Numerous studies of the dynamic behavior of powders have been performed by Discrete Element Method (DEM). The behavior of powders can be analyzed using the DEM assuming that the powder is composed of spherical particles. Moreover, the assumption of spherical particle reduces the computing time significantly. However, the biggest problem with this assumption is the real shape of the particles. Some types of particles, such as calcium carbonate and colloidal copper, are needle shaped. Thus, analysis based on spherical particles can produce errors because of the incorrect assumption. In this research, we developed a new model to simulate needle-shaped particles using the DEM. In the model, a series of particles are connected and regarded as a rod. There is no relative motion among the particles. Thus, the behavior of the rod is rigid motion. To validate the developed model, we carried out the drop-and-bounce test with different initial angles. The results showed negligible error of less than 2%.
Iron nanoparticles were made by using the modified coprecipitation technique. Usually the characteristics of synthesised particles depend upon the process parameters such as the ratio of the iron ions, the pH of the solution, the molar concentration of base used, type of reactants and temperature. A modified coprecipitation method was adopted in this study. A magnetic stirrer was used for mixing and the morphology and nature of particles were observed after synthesis. Nanoparticles were characterised through XRD. Obtained nanoparticles showed the formation of magnetite and maghemite under citric acid and oxalic acid as stabilisers respectively. The size of nanoparticle was greatly affected by the use of different types of stabilisers. Results show that citric acid greatly reduced the obtained particle size. Particle size as small as 13 nm was obtained in this study. The effects of different kinds of nucleating agents were also observed and two different types of nucleating agents were used i.e. potassium hydroxide (KOH) and copper chloride ($CuCl_2$). Results show that the use of nucleating agent in general pushes the growth phase of nanoparticles towards the end of coprecipitation reaction. The particles obtained after addition of nucleating agent were greater in size than particles obtained by not utilising any nucleating agent. These particles have found widespread use in medical sciences, energy conservation and electronic sensing technology.
A scope of this study is to establish the optimum plasma spray conditions for fine ($5\mu\textrm{m}$) $Al_2O_3$ powder. However, the flowability of the $Al_2O_3$ powder is not so good because of irregular particle shape and fine particle size. Therefore, powder feeding system was modified by 1) change of powder feeding line material from polymer to copper 2) shorten the powder feeding tube length 3) heating the powder feeding system to $80^{\circ}C$4) vibrating the powder feeding line continuously, in order to feed the fine powder homogeneously. The homogeneous powder feeding conditions were obtained with the modified powder feeding system by controlling the powder carrier gas flow and the powder flow rate indicator. The best plasma spraying conditions for the fine $Al_2O_3$ powder were found out as 40kw gun power, 80 g/min. powder feed rate and 50 mm working distance after characterizing the microstructure, hardness and wear loss of the $Al_2O_3$ coating layer.
Particle reinforced metal matrix composites(MMCs) via a centrifugal spray-cast deposition(CSD) process were fabricated by injecting second phase particles($Al_2O_3$<40${\mu}m$, W<17.3${\mu}m$) into copper melt on the atomizing disc. Compositing modes were investigated by combining microstructures and mathematical modeling between Cu droplets and the reinforced particles injected. The $Cu/W_P$ powders were shown that the W particles penetrate and get embedded in the Cu droplets. It is considered that the W particles composite preferentially in Cu melt on the atomizing disc. On the other hand, the $Al_2O_3$, particles did not penetrate into the Cu droplets on the atomizing disc but get attached in surface of Cu droplets during the flight. It is considered that the compositing may be attained in the flight distance which the relative velocity between Cu droplet and $Al_2O_3$, particle is maximum. The microstructure of the $Cu/W_P$ and the $Cu/(Al_2O_3)_p$ composite preform was strongly influenced by compositing modes of droplets, and after subsequent deposition it was comprised as it is called the dispersed type and the cell type of microstructure, respectively.
Structural and mechanical effects of the dynamical precipitation in two copper-base alloys have been investigated over a wide range of deformation temperatures. Basing upon the information gained during the experiment, also some general conclusion may be formulated. A one concerns the nature of dynamic precipitation(DP). Under this term it is commonly understood decomposition of a supersaturated solid solution during plastic straining. The process may, however, proceed in two different ways. It may be a homogeneous one from the point of view of distribution and morphological aspect of particles or it may lead to substantial difference in shape, size and particles distribution. The effect is controlled by the mode of deformation. Hence it seems to be reasonable to distinguish DP during homogeneous deformation from that which takes place in heterogeneously deformed alloy. In the first case the process can be analyzed solely in terms of particle-dislocation-particle interrelation. Much more complex problem we are facing in heterogeneously deforming alloy. Deformation bands and specific arrangement of dislocations in form of pile-ups at grain boundaries generate additional driving force and additional nucleation sites for precipitation. Along with heterogeneous precipitation, there is a homogeneous precipitation in areas between bands of coarse slip which also deform but at much smaller rate. This form of decomposition is responsible for a specially high hardening rate during high temperature straining and for thermally stable product of the decomposition of alloy.
The paper attempts to estimate the incubation time of a cavity in the interface between a power law creep particle and an elastic matrix subjected to a uniaxial stress. Since the power law creep particle is time dependent, the stresses in the interface relax. Through previous stress analysis related to the present physical model, the relaxation time is defined by ${\alpha}$2 which satisfies the equation $\Gamma$0 |1+${\alpha}$2k|m=1-${\alpha}$2 [19]. $\Gamma$0=2(1/√3)1+m($\sigma$$\infty$/2${\mu}$)m($\sigma$0/$\sigma$$\infty$tm) where $\sigma$$\infty$ is an applied stress, ${\mu}$ is a shear modulus of a matrix, $\sigma$$\infty$ is a material constant of a power law particle, $\sigma$=$\sigma$0 $\varepsilon$ and t elapsed time. the volume free energy associated with Helmholtz free energy includes strain energies associated with Helmholtz free energy includes strain energies caused by applied stress anddislocations piled up in interface (DPI). The energy due to DPI is found by modifying the results of Dundurs and Mura[20]. The volume free energies caused by both applied stress and DPI are a function of the cavity size(${\gamma}$) and elapsed time(t) and arise from stress relaxation in the interface. Critical radius ${\gamma}$ and incubation time t to maximize Helmholtz free energy is found in present analysis. Also, kinetics of cavity fourmation are investigated using the results obtained by Riede[16]. The incubation time is defied in the analysis as the time required to satisfy both the thermodynamic and kinetic conditions. Through the analysis it is found that [1] strain energy caused by the applied stress does not contribute significantly to the thermodynamic and kinetic conditions of a cavity formation, 2) in order to satisfy both thermodynamic and kinetic conditions, critical radius ${\gamma}$ decreases or holds constant with increase of time until the kinetic condition(eq.40) is satisfied. Therefore the cavity may not grow right after it is formed, as postulated by Harris[11], and Ishida and Mclean[12], 3) the effects of strain rate exponent (m), material constant $\sigma$0, volume fraction of the particle to matrix(f) and particle size on the incubation time are estimated using material constants of the copper as matrix.
