In MR, the iodine CT contrast medium reduces the T1 and T2 relaxation times of the substance, resulting in a change in signal intensity. This study aimed to measure the relaxation rate of MR contrast medium with or without diluting CT contrast medium and analyzed the effect of CT contrast medium. Undiluted Gadoteridol solution was diluted with saline to prepare MR contrast medium phantoms with various levels of Gadoteridol concentrations. Moreover, undiluted Iomeprol was mixed with the prepared MR contrast medium phantoms at 1:1 ratio to make MR contrast medium phantoms with containing CT contrast medium for the experiment. T1 and T2 mappings were conducted to quantitatively evaluate the relaxation time and relaxation rate of these phantoms. The results showed that the T1 and T2 relaxation time and relaxation rate of MR contrast medium diluted with CT contrast medium were significantly (p<0.05) shorter than those of MR contrast medium not diluted with CT contrast medium. The results of this study imply that, when MR contrast medium shall be used after injecting CT contrast medium, CT contrast medium should be discharged enough. Moreover, it would be desirable to conduct CT test after taking MRI test in order to reduce the effects of CT contrast medium on MR contrast medium.
Since the side effects of contrast agents occur in many ways, hospitals must clearly identify the contrast agents and know how to manage them. Storage of contrast media It is common practice to store contrast media in a warm room to reduce viscosity and improve patient comfort. However, it is important to recognize that long-term storage at high temperatures can shorten the shelf life of a product. Therefore, in this study, the presence or absence of chemical changes according to the storage period after using the contrast medium was analyzed. As the analysis equipment, a 500 MHz Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectrometer of Bruker Avance (Germany) possessed by Korea Basic Science Institute (KOREA BASIC SCIENCE INSTITUTE; KBSI) was used. For the X-ray iodide contrast medium, Pamiray contrast medium of Iopamidol and Optiray contrast medium of Ioversol, samples remaining after 7 days, 20 days, 30 days, and 1 year were collected, By acquiring the spectrum from the 1H-NMR spectrometer of the contrast medium stimulated by It was compared and analyzed with the standard sample. In conclusion, depending on the storage period of the contrast medium, no peaks of physical and chemical changes were observed in both the Pamiray contrast medium of Iopamidol and the Optiray contrast medium of Ioversol after 7 days, 20 days, 30 days, and 1 year after use.
The loss in contrast-discrimination ability of the human visual system under high ambient illumination level can cause image quality degradation in mobile phones. In this paper, we propose a perceived contrast compensation method by processing the original displayed image. With consideration that the perceived contrast significantly varies across the image, this method extracts the local band contrast from the original image; it then compensates these contrast components to counteract the perceived contrast degradation. Experimental results demonstrate that this method can maintain most contrast details even in high ambient illumination levels.
Objective: To investigate molecular and functional consequences of additional exposures to iodine- or gadolinium-based contrast agents within 24 hours from the initial intravenous administration of iodine-based contrast agents through an animal study. Materials and Methods: Fifty-six Sprague-Dawley male rats were equally divided into eight groups: negative control, positive control (PC) with single-dose administration of CT contrast agent, and additional administration of either CT or MR contrast agents 2, 4, or 24 hours from initial CT contrast agent injection. A 12 µL/g of iodinated contrast agent or a 0.47 µL/g of gadolinium-based contrast agent were injected into the tail vein. Serum levels of blood urea nitrogen, creatinine, cystatin C (Cys C), and malondialdehyde (MDA) were measured. mRNA and protein levels of kidney injury molecule-1 (KIM-1) and neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) were evaluated. Results: Levels of serum creatinine (SCr) were significantly higher in repeated CT contrast agent injection groups than in PC (0.21 ± 0.02 mg/dL for PC; 0.40 ± 0.02, 0.34 ± 0.03, and 0.41 ± 0.10 mg/dL for 2-, 4-, and 24-hour interval groups, respectively; P < 0.001). There was no significant difference in the average Cys C and MDA levels between PC and repeated CT contrast agent injection groups (Cys C, P = 0.256-0.362; MDA, P > 0.99). Additional doses of MR contrast agent did not make significant changes compared to PC in SCr (P > 0.99), Cys C (P = 0.262), and MDA (P = 0.139-0.771) levels. mRNA and protein levels of KIM-1 and NGAL were not significantly different among additional CT or MR contrast agent groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion: A sufficient time interval, probably more than 24 hours, between repeated contrast-enhanced CT examinations may be necessary to avoid deterioration in renal function. However, conducting contrast-enhanced MRI on the same day as contrast-enhanced CT may not induce clinically significant kidney injury.
In this study, the P contrast agent of Iopamidol, which is a nonionic iodide contrast agent most commonly used as a vascular contrast agent in medical institutions, and the O contrast agent of Ioversol, were studied. The physicochemical changes according to the temperature change were compared and analyzed using the Bruker Avance 500MHz Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectrometer owned by the Korea Basic Science Institute (KBSI). There was no physical or chemical change in the O contrast medium of Ioversol formulation in temperature change. However, in the P contrast agent of Iopamidol, a doublet peak began to appear in the 1.1 ppm region of the sample at 60℃, and the doublet peak was clearly observed in the sample at 80℃. As a result of this study, 1H-NMR analysis revealed that the P contrast agent of the Iopamidol formulation was dissociated from chemical bonds as it rose to a high temperature of 60℃ or higher, resulting in the formation of foreign substances. It was evaluated that the O contrast agent of Ioversol formulation had physico-chemical stability than the P contrast agent of Iopamidol formulation. As shown in this study, it is necessary to analyze the physical and chemical changes of contrast agents according to various environmental factors.
Recently, the use of contrast agents has been increasing as a broader range of tests and dynamic tests have become common due to the development of equipment and imaging techniques such as Multi-Detector CT. However, the side effects of using contrast agents have been reduced by the development of non-ionic contrast agents, but they are still occurring often. The purpose of this study was to propose a method to minimize the side effect of contrast agent by using the amount of contrast agent injected to the brain angiography test to suppress excessive use of contrast agent and analyze the amount of contrast agent. Patients who were prescribed Brain Angiography due to cerebrovascular disease, According to the results of the comparison of the results obtained by dividing into 4 groups of 10ml each according to the amount of contrast medium injected with contrast agent according to the BMI of the patient, BA and SNR were not different between groups, and even if the amount of contrast injection was reduced, there was no problem in the evaluation of CT angiography through 3D reconstruction. This result shows that even if the contrast medium is injected into the blood vessels of the patient first and then the contrast medium is used as the physiological saline solution, the contrast medium is reduced by 40% it can be expected to minimize.
The purpose of the study is to investigate how uptake counts of $^{201}Tl$ of radioisotopes in the human body could change, when taking computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging right after injecting contrast media. $^{201}Tl$ radioisotope substances of iodine contrast medium, which is a computed tomography contrast medium, and paramagnetic contrast medium, which is an magnetic resonance imaging contrast medium, were used as study materials. First, $^{201}Tl$ was put into 4 cc of normal saline in test tube, and then a computed tomography contrast medium of Iopamidol$^{(R)}$ or Dotarem$^{(R)}$, was put into 2 cc of normal saline in test tube. An magnetic resonance imaging contrast medium of Primovist$^{(R)}$ or Gadovist$^{(R)}$ was also put into 2 cc of normal saline in test tube. Each contrast medium was distributed to make $^{201}Tl$ as 3 mCi, with a total of 4 cc. Gamma camera, low energy high resolution collimator, and pinhole collimator were used to obtain images. The uptake count of $^{201}Tl$ was measured with 1000 frames of images, and obtained after 10 times of repetition. This study revealed that the use of Gadovist$^{(R)}$, which is an magnetic resonance imaging contrast medium, showed the smallest number of uptake count, after measuring $^{201}Tl$ uptake count by low energy high resolution collimator. On the other hand, the use of Iopamidol$^{(R)}$, which is a computed tomography contrast medium, showed the biggest difference in uptake count, when measuring $^{99m}Tc$ uptake count by Pinhole collimator. When examining with gamma camera, using contrast medium and $^{201}Tl$, identifying the changes of uptake count is very important for improving the value of diagnosis.
This study aimed to investigate the effect of design factors of woven textiles on the consumer's sensibility and emotion. 60 textile design pictures and 18 adjectives were prepared to get responses from 512 adult subjects. Textiles designs were analyzed into 9 design factors, such as, motif source, motif-background ratio, motif interpretation, motif arrangement, motif variation, motif articulation, hue contrast, value contrast, and chroma contrast. The results are followings: 1) The design factors of textiles were connected to other design factors, for example, the type of motif interpretation determined the type of chroma contrast, motif source, the ratio, and chroma contrast significantly. 2) The correlational coefficients of the ratio, motif variation, chroma contrast, hue contrast, articulation, and value contrast were positively signed significantly. 3) Consumer's sensibility was changed in urban, natural, graceful, mannish, young, dynamic, new, modem and etc, as the textile designs were changed in motif source, arrangement, hue contrast and etc.
Perfusion MR imaging is how to use exogenous and endogenous contrast agent. Exogenous perfusion MRI methods which are dynamic susceptibility contrast using $T2^*$ effect and dynamic contrast-enhanced using T1 weighted image after injection contrast media. An endogenous perfusion MRI method which is arterial spin labeling using arterial blood flow in body. In order to exam perfusion MRI in human, technical access are very important according to disease conditions. For instance, dynamic susceptibility contrast is used in patients with acute stroke because of short exam time, while dynamic susceptibility contrast or dynamic contrast enhancement provides the various perfusion information for patients with tumor, vascular stenosis. Arterial spin labeling is useful for children, women who are expected to be pregnant. In this regard, perfusion MR imaging is required to understanding, and the author would like to share information with clinical users
