The assignment of exploration on individuals provides challenging work environments, while it generates high levels of complexity. On the other hand, the assignment of exploitation on individuals offers less challenging work environments, while it makes low levels of complexity. Give the characteristics of exploration and exploitation, I argue that the assignments of both exploration and exploitation create the favorable work environments to individuals. Developed hypotheses were tested using a logit regression from a sample of 168 project managers in a R&D center. I found that a manager who experienced exploitation project(s) is positively related to higher performance in exploitation project(s). In addition, a manager who experienced both exploitation and exploration projects are found to be positively associated with higher project performance.

Previous research has provided inconsistent findings as to whether socially (in)competent individuals benefit from social networking sites (SNSs) use. Based on the rich-get-richer model, some studies have shown that socially competent individuals expand their existing networks even further via SNSs use. Based on the poor-get-richer model, other studies have shown that those with poor social skills can achieve beneficiary outcomes from SNSs use by overcoming their deficient social resources of offline environments. The present study is devised to add evidence regarding how and why social skills are related to SNSs use. To this end, we tested the relationships between social competence and three types of Facebook communication activities: interaction, self-presentation, and passive observation. Further, drawing on the social cognitive theory, the mediating role of outcome expectancy in the relationship between social competence and Facebook communication activities was examined. Using an online survey in South Korea (N = 708), it was found that individuals with higher social competence were more likely than those with lower social competence to engage in interaction, self-presentation, passive observation on Facebook. Moreover, these relationships were mediated by outcome expectancy that the desired social outcomes could be achieved as a result of Facebook use.

The purpose of this study was to identify the psychometric properties of the vocational ability scale used in the 8th Panel Survey of Employment for the Disabled in Korea by using the Rasch model. The sample data was collected from 398 individuals with intellectual disabilities. Item fitness, item difficulty, the appropriateness of the rating scale, and the separation index of the vocational ability scale were evaluated. All 15 items show an appropriate fitness level. The analysis of item difficulty indicate that modifications are required. Specifically, the need for the addition of less difficult question items is identified. The use of a 5-point rating scale is shown to decrease the test difficulty in terms of clarity and readability when appropriate and a 4-point modification is also determined as appropriate. With respect to the outcomes of the analysis, the person separation reliability value and separation index are high, and the reliability of the items is also high.

The feeding ecology of Doederleinia berycoides from the southern sea of Korea was examined. Specimens were caught monthly from January 2007 to June 2008. The size of the specimens ranged from 6.8 to 39.8cm in total length (TL). The primary prey items of D. berycoides included fishes and shrimps. In autumn, feeding mainly crustacea and fishes feeding mainly in winter. The individuals of smallest size class (less than 15 cm TL) fed mainly on crustacea. The proportion of crustacea decreased as body size increased, whereas the consumption of fishes increased. Fishes accounted for almost (86%) stomach contents of larger individuals (more than 35 cm TL).

The research was executed to find out that customers' dissatisfaction level caused from service failure could be increased or decreased by personal value attitude for a event. With the empirical study the research found fate or destiny oriented individuals are more likely to forgive for the service failures than face value oriented ones. The findings will be helpful to increase customers satisfaction levels after customers experienced service failures if a service firm can manage individuals' personal values.

The social statistic was used to top 250 Korean and Japanese YouTube channels based on the number of subscribers examine its channel type (private/corporations/others), distribution of contents and private YouTube channels' date of registration. The channel examination was also used to provide practical hint to create new Youtube contents. According to the statistics, Korean channels were mainly managed by K-Culture related companies for the promotional purpose, whereas Japanese channels were mainly managed by individuals with a variety of contents. It is presumed that Japanese individuals have been engaged in creating individual video content since the early period through video uploading platforms other than YouTube such as Niconico Douga. Since the expansion of the YouTube market will continue, it is important not only to reinforce corporations' marketing on YouTube but also to promote the uniqueness and the diversity of YouTube content for the individuals to improve the economical, sentimental, and informational contents in order to create socially effective personal contents that can be competitive in the global market.

This study aimed to examine the predictors of mental health confidence(MHC) among individuals in psychiatric long-term care facilities(PLCF). It further examined whether the predictors and underlying mechanisms differed by the length of hospitalization. Sample consisted of 1,742 individuals residing in PLCF who participated in the Survey on PLCF. Structural equational modeling was used to examine the predictors of MHC. Multi-group Structural Equation Modeling(SEM) was used to examine whether the predictors and mechanisms differed by the length of hospitalization between those of 10 years or less (n=962) and 10 years and more (n=780). Major findings were as follows. (1) Education, duration of mental illness, and psychiatric symptoms were significantly related to MHC. (2) Duration of mental illness presented significant indirect effects on MHC via its effects on perceived stigma. (3) The predictors and underlying mechanisms differed by the length of hospitalization. Based on the findings, implications and limitations of the research were discussed.

This study investigated whether individuals' exposure to movie-promotion activities offered by a movie-maker influence their satisfaction of viewing it. This study also explored whether individuals' motive for viewing a movie and personal involvement with it have an effect on their satisfaction of viewing it. The data from nationwide survey with a stratified sampling were analyzed (N = 451). This study found that (1) The more frequent exposure to movie-promotion activities, the greater satisfaction of viewing a movie; (2) The stronger motive to view a movie, the greater satisfaction of viewing it; (3) The higher involvement with a movie, the greater satisfaction of viewing it; (4) In the strong motivated group and the high involved group, the influence of individuals' exposure to the movie promotion activities is effective for individuals' satisfaction of viewing it. And theoretical and practical implications were discussed.

This study was carried out to select chamazulene containing species and to know whether chamazulene content varies depend on individual plants within a population or not. Among five collected mugworts, chamazulene was detected only in Artemisia indica. Chamazulene content in the leaves was higher than that in stems at vegetative stage. Camazulene in inflorescence was not higher than that in leaves even at reproductive stage. Chamazulene was higher in the leaves of the upper part of the plant than those of the middle and lower of the plant at vegetative stage. Chamazulene contents of 50 individuals within a population were varied from 0.01% to 0.11% with mean of 0.045%. About 36 individuals, 72 percent of total individuals examined, had more than 0.03% of chamazulene. There was no difference in chamazulene contents between parents and their clones.

The feeding habits of Sebastiscus marmoratus collected from the Western Coastal Waters of Jeju Island between June 2008 and July 2009 were studied based on examination of the stomach contents. A total 254 individuals of S. marmoratus ranged from 13.2 to 29.6cm (mean 20.7cm) in Standard length (SL). S. marmoratus consumed mainly teleosts such as Chromis notata and Sebastes inermis. Its diet also includes shrimps and crabs. The individuals smaller than 15cm SL consumed mainly shrimps, but on the other hand the individuals larger than 25cm SL consumed mainly fishes. The proportion of fish consumption increased with increasing size of S. marmoratus.
