한국 고등학생의 자살 보호요인 측정도구 개발 (Development of a Measurement of Suicidal Protection (MSP) for High School Students in Korea)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to develop and test a measurement of the suicidal protection(MSP) for high school students in Korea. Methods: Thirty-four preliminary items were initially developed based on literature review and focus group interviews. Those items were evaluated by experts for content validity with 31 items yielded. For testing validity and reliability of the measurement, data were collected from 330 high school students in Korea. Results: The item analysis selected 26 items. One item was deleted additionally through the primary exploratory factor analysis. The final exploratory factor analysis yielded 26 items in six factors such as fear of suicide, self-esteem, emotion regulation, support from others, support from family, and school life, explaining 66.6% of the total variance of the suicidal protection for high school students in Korea. Convergent validity and discriminant validity were supported by construct reliability, average variance extracted estimate, and standardized regression weight. MSP scores were positively associated with economic status, academic record and suicidal ideation. Also, criterion validity was supported through a significant correlation with the Reason for Living Inventory for Adolescent. The Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ reliability coefficient was .93 for the overall measurement and .72~.86 for the six factors. Conclusion: The results show that MSP may be valid and reliable for assessing suicidal protection of high school students.

한국어판 간호대학생의 COVID-19 스트레스 측정도구 신뢰도 및 타당도 검증 (Reliability and Validity of COVID-19 Stress Scale in Korean Nursing Students)

  • Purpose: This study investigated the validity and reliability of the Korean version of COVID-19 Stress Scale (K-CSS) in nursing students in Korea. Methods: The subjects of the study were 319 nursing students from three universities located in the metropolitan area. Data were collected for two months using self-reporting questionnaires. The study verified the scale's content validity, construct validity, concurrent validity and reliability, using SPSS 20.0 and AMOS 20.0. Results: K-CSS was comprised of seven factors, with a total of 25 questions; six about socio-economic consequences, four about Xenophobia, five about compulsive checking, three about traumatic stress, three about contamination, two about danger of the virus, and two about danger regarding the healthcare system. K-CSS was validated with confirmatory factor analysis (x2/df=2.32, CFI=.94, GFI=.87, NFI=.90, RMR=.07, RMSEA=.06, TLI=.93). Furthermore, the reliability verification showed a Cronbach's α of 0.87, confirming that the Korean version of the tool was very reliable. Conclusion: This study shows that K-CSS is a valid and reliable instrument to assess nursing students in Korea.

Translation and psychometric evaluation of the Korean version of the fertility awareness and attitudes towards parenthood questionnaire

  • Purpose: This study presents a translation, cultural adaptation, and psychometric evaluation of two instruments of the Fertility Awareness and Attitudes Towards Parenthood (FAAP) questionnaire (Conditions and Life changes) for use in South Korea. Methods: This methodological study included 166 university students for psychometric evaluation in the sixth step. The first five steps included forward translation, backward translation, committee review, assessment of content validity, and a pre-test. In the sixth step, psychometric properties, including internal consistency, construct validity, and criterion validity, were evaluated. Exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were conducted to identify the structure of the tool and to assess its validity. Results: The Korean version showed acceptable internal consistency. Cronbach's α was .73 for FAAP-Conditions and .83 for FAAP-Life changes. FAAP-Conditions showed a four-factor structure (social conditions, relationship with partner, external environment, and child-rearing support) and FAAP-Life changes had a two-factor structure (reward and burden). In the confirmatory analysis, CMIN/DF, TLI, IFI, SRMR, CFI, and RMSEA were satisfactory. Conclusion: This study provided preliminary evidence of the acceptability, reliability, and validity of the Korean version of the FAAP questionnaire in university students in South Korea. Nonetheless, further evaluation among Korean young adults is warranted to validate this instrument.

북한이탈여성의 건강 임파워먼트 측정도구 개발 및 평가 (Development and Evaluation of Health Empowerment Scale for North Korean Women Defectors)

  • Purpose: This study developed an instrument to evaluate the health empowerment of North Korean women refugees and examined its validity and reliability. Methods: Through literature review and focused group interviews, 66 preliminary items with three constructs, including perceived control, perceived competence, and goal internalization were selected based on Menon's psychological health empowerment model. A questionnaire survey was conducted with 239 North Korean women refugees in the community from August 31 to September 4, 2020. Content, construct, convergent, and discriminative validity were evaluated. Cronbach's α was used to evaluate the reliability of scale. Results: The final instrument consisted of 31 items with three factors that were identified through confirmatory factor analysis. The convergent validity showed that the correlation coefficient was .52 (p < .001), which confirmed the validity of the developed measurement tool. Cronbach's α for all the items was .94, and Cronbach's α for the factors was .76~.91. Conclusion: This health empowerment scale has been developed to include aspects of health empowerment, provide a conceptual framework, and offer objective indicators to evaluate the effectiveness of a health education program.

간호사를 위한 말기 환자 존엄간호 측정도구 개발 (Development and Validation of a Dignity in Care Scale of Terminally Ill Patients for Nurses)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to develop an instrument to showcase Dignity in Care of Terminally Ill Patients for Nurses and to examine its validity and reliability. Methods: A total of 58 preliminary items on dignity in care of terminally ill patients for nurses were selected using content validity analysis and expert opinions on 97 candidate items derived through a literature review and qualitative focus group interviews. Questionnaires were administered to 502 nurses caring for terminally ill cancer patients at hospice and palliative care institutions. The data were analyzed using item analysis, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, convergent and discriminant validity, and Pearson correlation for criterion validity, reliability was tested using Cronbach's alpha. Results: The final instrument consisted of 25 items, with four factors identified through confirmatory factor analysis. Four factors-ethical values and moral attitudes, interaction-based communication, maintaining comfort, professional insight and competence-accounted for 61.8% of the total variance. Cronbach's α for total items was .96, and test-retest reliability of intraclass correlation coefficient was .90. Conclusion: Since its validity and reliability have been verified through various methods, the Dignity in Care Scale of Terminally Ill Patients for Nurses can be used for develop nursing interventions and improve dignity in care of terminally ill patients.

부모-영아 놀이 상호작용 관찰척도 개발을 위한 연구 (Developing the Parent Play Interaction Observation Scale (PPIOS) for Toddlers)

  • Objective: This study aimed to develop a parent play interaction observation scale (PPIOS-Toddler) and analyze it in terms of item discrimination, reliability, and validity. Methods: The subjects of the study were 97 toddlers and mothers. This scale consisted of three categories, six domains and 22 items on a 5-point scale. For the item discrimination of the observation scale, an independent standard t-test was conducted to analyze the significant difference in average between the upper and lower groups for each item. The reliability of the observation scale was calculated by Cronbach's α, the intra-item agreement, and the validity was examined through content validity, the correlation between subdomains and total scores, and official validity using PICCOLO. Results: In item discrimination analysis, all items exhibited differences between upper and lower groups. The overall internal agreement for the observation scale was 0.95, with factor-specific internal agreement ranging from 0.83 to 0.95. The observation scale demonstrated notable correlations between total scores and sub-factors (0.45 to 0.93) and significant correlations with PICCOLO total scores (0.66 to 0.86). Conclusion/Implications: The study successfully verified the item discrimination, reliability, and validity of the Parent Play Interaction Observation Scale (PPIOS-Toddler).

알츠하이머병에 관한 건강정보 이해력 측정도구 개발 및 평가: 농촌 노인을 대상으로 (Development and Evaluation of Health Literacy Instrument for Alzheimer's Disease: Case of Older Adults in Rural Areas)

  • Purpose: This study develops a health literacy instrument for Alzheimer's disease. Methods: Items were drawn from The Korean version of the Alzheimer's Disease Knowledge Scale (ADKS) and the Korean version of European Health Literacy Survey Questionnaire (HLS-EU-Q47 & HLS-EU-Q16). Content validity was tested by experts. To further refine the questionnaires and test their reliability and validity, data were collected from 324 older adults in the community. Results: Five significant items in the two subscales were derived from the factor analysis. The subscales were named access and understanding. Reliability was good at Cronbach's ⍺ .79, and validity through exploratory factor analysis was KMO .897, p<.001, which was found to be high and significant. Conclusion: The instrument demonstrated high reliability and validity. Therefore, this instrument can contribute to the evaluation of health literacy for Alzheimer's Disease in older adults and to any subsequent intervention, as well as to develop a theory for health literacy for Alzheimer's Disease.

Development of the Hybrid Clinical Practicum Environment Scale for Nursing Students

  • Purpose: This study aimed to develop a Hybrid Clinical Practicum Environment Scale for Nursing Students (HCPES-NS) and verify its validity and reliability. Methods: The HCPES-NS was constructed following the DeVellis guidelines. The initial items were written based on a literature review and individual in-depth interviews. Content validity was verified through an expert panel review. To confirm the validity and reliability of the scale, a survey was conducted with 449 nursing students enrolled in 12 nursing colleges. Data were analyzed using item analysis, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, concurrent validity, and reliability tests. Results: Factor analysis showed that the HCPES-NS consists of 15 items on five subdomains: clinical site atmosphere, interpersonal relationship, alternative online practicum contents, provision of learning information, and clinical performance facilitation. A higher score indicated a more positive perception of the clinical practicum environment. The concurrent validity of the HCPES-NS was confirmed by its positive correlation with the Clinical Learning Environment Scale (r = .77). The Cronbach's α reliability of the HCPES-NS was .84. Conclusion: The HCPES-NS is both valid and reliable. This scale reflects the clinical practicum environment and includes an online practicum factor. It may be used effectively by faculty members and educators to evaluate nursing students' perceptions of clinical practicum environments.

역량기반 치의학 교육과정 개편을 위한 역량모델 개발 사례 (A Case of Developing a Competency model for the revision of the dentistry education curriculum on the competency-based)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 W치과대학의 역량기반 치의학 교육과정 개편을 위한 역량모델을 개발하는데 있다. 이를 위해 이 연구방법은 역량모델 개발절차를 3단계로 진행하였다. 역량모델 준비 단계는 구성원의 인식조사를 분석하고, 개발단계는 역량수준 등을 개발하였다. 평가단계는 전문가에게 내용타당도를 검증받았다. 그 결과 내용타당도지수(CVI: content validity index)는 .91로 높은 CVI를 나타났으며, 대학차원의 공통역량인 4개의 핵심역량과 전공역량인 직무역량을 연계한 역량모델을 개발하였다. 이러한 절차를 걸쳐 개발된 W치과대학의 역량모델 개발 사례는 앞으로 역량모델 개발이 필요한 연구에 기초자료를 제공할 수 있으며, W치과대학의 역량 기반 교육과정 개편에도 반영할 예정이다.

중환자실 간호 인수인계 프로토콜의 개발 및 평가 (Development and Evaluation of a Nursing Handoff Protocol for Intensive Care Units)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to develop a nursing handoff protocol for intensive care units and test its relevance. Methods: This is a methodological research to develop a protocol. A preliminary protocol was developed by composing items and testing content validity through literature review and experts' review. We revised and complemented the preliminary protocol following practical relevance assessment of 38 intensive care unit nurses at a university hospital to test content validity and to assess practical relevance of the final protocol. Results: On the basis of the content validity test for the final protocol, 40 items were adopted. The scores for the practical relevance of the final protocol increased significantly for items such as accuracy of handoff, reduction of handoff-related errors, convenience in using the protocol, reduction in handoff time, and simplification of handoff. Conclusions: The nursing handoff protocol for intensive care units in this study is expected to improve nursing performance with a standardized handoff in intensive care units, promote patient safety, and improve communication among the medical staff.
