대중음식점 일회용 물티슈의 세균 오염도 조사 (Bacterial Contamination in Disposable Wet Wipes from General Restaurants)

  • 2016년 4월부터 6월까지 제주특별자치도에 위치한 대중음식점, 커피전문점 및 제과 제빵점 등에서 제공하는 일회용 물티슈를 대상으로 미생물의 오염도를 평가하였다. 사용된 재료는 일회용 물티슈 55종을 사용하였다. 대중음식점 일회용 물티슈 55종의 평균 세균 수는 $4.14{\times}10^3CFU/mL$이었으며, 세균이 자라지 않은 물티슈는 5종이었다. 가장 높게 측정된 세균 수는 2종의 물티슈에서 $16.67{\times}10^3CFU/mL$ 이상으로 나타났다. 순수 분리한 총 균수는 71균주이며, 이 중 황색포도알균(Staphylococcus aureus) 15균주, 녹농균(Pseudomonas aeruginosa) 3균주를 동정하였다. 이는 대중음식점에서 공급하는 물티슈의 세균 오염도가 심각하다는 것을 반영하며 기회감염의 원인이 되는 Staphylococcus aureus와, Pseudomonas aeruginosa가 발견된 것은 주목할 만하다고 볼 수 있다. 본 연구를 통해 한 번 사용 후 버리는 일회용품이며, 수개월 내지는 1~2년 보관하면서 사용하는 제품인 일회용 물티슈의 위생관련 기준 마련에 기초자료를 제공하고 대중음식점 등에 대한 위생관리 감독 강화와 개선방안 및 개인 위생관리 및 국민보건 수준향상에 기여 하고자 한다

병원"드레싱"상중 일부물품의 오염도에 관한 조사연구 (A Microbiological Study of Sterilized Materials on Dressing Carts)

  • Bacterial cultures of the transfer forceps, 4"$\times$4"mesh gauze and polluted air of nursing units of general surgery, internal medicine, gynecology and pediatrics of S.N.U.H. were carried on for S consecutive days (from 17th to 21s1 August, 1972) to investigate the degree of contamination of such instruments which were used in dressing the patients. 1. The average hospitalized patients for each nursing unit were 24 persons. 2. The frequency of dressing, and using forceps and gauze in surgical nursing unit were 25,316 and 66 times respectively. Actually the forceps were used most frequently. There was no dressing in the nursing unit of internal median. 3. Most of dressing were carried on from 11 : 00 to 13 : 59 o′clock. 4. Averagely 121.5 persons passed through each nursing unit. 549 visitors dropped in the nursing unit of gynecology in maximum, and 219 visitors in the nursing of internal medicine in minimum. The visitors rushed in from 11 : 00 to 13 : 59 o′clock to he 142.5 persons for each nursing unit in average. 5. Colony counts after the bacterial cultures of the forceps and gauze disclosed 1098.44 and 704.51 per plate respectively. 6. The degree of contamination was parallel to the duration and frequency of dressings. 7. The degree of contamination of the instruments was severest in the nursing unit of internal medicine, and !east in the nursing unit of gynecology. On the matter of gauze, the contamination was most extreme in the pediatric nursing unit. 8. There was no significant daily differences in terms of contamination throughout the week. 9. It was disclosed that empty forceps jars were less contaminated than the jars with solution of any kind. 10. Bacterial cultures of the polluted air in corridor showed 73,88 colony counts per plate.

도시환경 방사능오염 평가모델 METRO-K의 대응행위 결정지원을 위한 실용성 연구 (A Feasibility Study for Decision-Making Support of a Radioactive Contamination Model in an Urban Environment (METRO-K))

  • 국내 환경을 고려하여 개발된 도시환경 방사능오염 평가모델 METRO-K (${\underline{M}}odel$ for ${\underline{E}}stimates$ the ${\underline{T}}ransient$ Behavior of ${\underline{R}}adi{\underline{O}}active$ Materials in the ${\underline{K}}orean$ Urban Environment)는 IAEA (${\underline{I}}nternational$ ${\underline{A}}tomic$ ${\underline{E}}nergy$ ${\underline{A}}gency$) 주관 국제공동 연구프로그램 EMRAS (${\underline{E}}nvironmental$ ${\underline{M}}odelling$ for ${\underline{RA}}diation$ ${\underline{S}}afety$)의 도시환경 방사능오염평가 분과에서 체르노빌 원전사고로 오염된 Pripyat 지역과 가상 방사능테러로 인한 오염 시나리오의 평가에 참여해 오고 있다. 본 논문에서는 EMRAS 프로그램의 일환으로 수행된 Pripyat 지역에 대한 METRO-K의 평가 결과를 제시하였고 다른 모델의 예측값과 비교, 논의함으로써 만일의 도시환경 방사능오염시 대응행위 결정지원을 위한 동 모델의 실용성을 고찰하였다. METRO-K를 사용한 평가결과에서 방사성물질의 오염 후 신속한 대응행위는 무엇보다 중요하다는 것을 알 수 있었다. EMRAS 프로그램에 참여한 각기 다른 모델로 평가된 예측값의 차이는 1) 모델의 수학적 구조와 관련 변수값, 2) 모델에 반영된 피폭경로, 3) 피폭영향을 주는 오염표면의 종류, 표면의 넓이 등과 같은 평가에 대한 가정, 4) 각기 다른 문헌으로부터 선택된 대응행위 관련인자의 적용값 등의 차이에 기인하였다. METRO-K을 사용하여 EMRAS 프로그램에서 요구하는 다양한 오염 시나리오에 대해 대부분의 결과를 제출하여 상호 비교되었으며, 이를 통해 METRO-K는 만일의 도시환경 방사능오염으로 인한 대응행위 결정지원에 유용한 도구가 될 수 있음을 확인하였다.

  • Smaller size and higher integration of electronic systems make narrower interconnect pitch not only in chip-level but also in package-level. Moreover electronic systems are required to operate in harsher conditions, that is, higher current / voltage, elevated temperature / humidity, and complex chemical contaminants. Under these severe circumstances, electronic components respond to applied voltages by electrochemically ionization of metals and conducting filament forms between anode and cathode across a nonmetallic medium. This phenomenon is called as the electrochemical migration. Many kinds of metal (Cu, Ag, SnPb, Sn etc) using in electronic packages are failed by ECM. Eutectic SnPb which is used in various electronic packaging structures, that is, printed circuit boards, plastic-encapsulated packages, organic display panels, and tape chip carriers, chip-on-films etc. And the material for soldering (eutectic SnPb) using in electronic package easily makes insulation failure by ECM. In real PCB system, not only metals but also many chemical species are included. And these chemical species act as resources of contamination. Model test systems were developed to characterize the migration phenomena without contamination effect. The serpentine-shape pattern was developed for analyzing relationship of applied voltage bias and failure lifetime by the temperature / humidity biased(THB) test.

실리콘 용탕으로부터 직접 제조된 태양광용 다결정 실리콘의 SiC 오염 연구 (SiC Contaminations in Polycrystalline-Silicon Wafer Directly Grown from Si Melt for Photovoltaic Applications)

  • Silicon (Si) wafer was grown by using direct growth from Si melt and contaminations of wafer during the process were investigated. In our process, BN was coated inside of all graphite parts including crucible in system to prevent carbon contamination. In addition, coated BN layer enhance the wettability, which ensures the favorable shape of grown wafer by proper flow of Si melt in casting mold. As a result, polycrystalline silicon wafer with dimension of $156{\times}156$ mm and thickness of $300{\pm}20$ um was successively obtained. There were, however, severe contaminations such as BN and SiC on surface of the as-grown wafer. While BN powders were easily removed by brushing surface, SiC could not be eliminated. As a result of BN analysis, C source for SiC was from binder contained in BN slurry. Therefore, to eliminate those C sources, additional flushing process was carried out before Si was melted. By adding 3-times flushing processes, SiC was not detected on the surface of as-grown Si wafer. Polycrystalline Si wafer directly grown from Si melt in this study can be applied for the cost-effective Si solar cells.

Arsenic Contamination of Groundwater a Grave Concern: Novel Clay-based Materials for Decontamination of Arsenic (V)

  • Arsenic is a highly toxic element, and its contamination is widespread around the world. The natural materials with high selectivity and efficiency toward pollutants are important in wastewater treatment technology. In this study, the mesoporous synthetic hectorite was synthesized by facile hydrothermal crystallization of gels comprising silica, magnesium hydroxide, and lithium fluoride. Additionally, the naturally available clay was modified using zirconium at room temperature. Both synthetic and modified natural clays were employed in the removal of arsenate from aquatic environments. The materials were fully characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Fourier transform-infrared (FT-IR) analyses. The synthesized materials were used to remove arsenic (V) under varied physicochemical conditions. Both materials, i.e., Zr-bentonite and Zr-hectorite, showed high percentage removal of arsenic (V) at lower pH, and the efficiency decreased in an alkaline medium. The equilibrium-state sorption data agrees well with the Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption isotherms, and the maximum sorption capacity is found to be 4.608 and 2.207 mg/g for Zr-bentonite and Zr-hectorite, respectively. The kinetic data fits well with the pseudo-second order kinetic model. Furthermore, the effect of the background electrolytes study indicated that arsenic (V) is specifically sorbed at the surface of these two nanocomposites. This study demonstrated that zirconium intercalated synthetic hectorite as well as zirconium modified natural clays are effective and efficient materials for the selective removal of arsenic (V) from aqueous medium.

Spectroscopic Techniques for Nondestructive Detection of Fungi and Mycotoxins in Agricultural Materials: A Review

  • Purpose: Fungal secondary metabolite (mycotoxin) contamination in foods can pose a serious threat to humans and animals. Spectroscopic techniques have proven to be potential alternative tools for early detection of mycotoxins. Thus, the aim of this review is to provide an overview of the current developments in nondestructive food safety testing techniques, particularly regarding fungal contamination testing in grains, focusing on the application of spectroscopic techniques to this problem. Methods: This review focuses on the use of spectroscopic techniques for the detection of fungi and mycotoxins in agricultural products as reported in the literature. It provides an overview of the characteristics of the main spectroscopic methods and reviews their applications in grain analysis. Results: It was found that spectroscopy has advantages over conventional methods used for fungal contamination detection, particularly when combined with chemometrics. These advantages include the rapidness and nondestructive nature of this approach. Conclusions: While spectroscopy offers many benefits for the detection of mycotoxins in agricultural products, a number of limitations exist, which must be overcome prior to widespread adoption of these techniques.

Salt fog 시험에서 silicone rubber에서 발생하는 방전 전류의 특성 (The surface discharge performance of silicone rubber in the Salt fog test)

  • In these days, the silicone insulators have been increasingly studied and applied for outdoor insulators because it has superior characteristics than porcelain and glass insulators, which have been used for outdoor insulators. First of all, The excellent performance of the silicone rubber in polluted and wet conditions is attributed to the ability of the material to maintain the hydrophobicity of the surface in the presence of severe contamination and wet conditions. This is because of the presence of low molecular weight mobile fluid in the silicone rubber which diffuses to the surface and to above the contamination layer. But, the leakage current and some surface discharge occurs on surface of the composite polymeric insulation materials when the insulator is used for a long time with severe contaminative condition and it can lead the contamination flashover. So the leakage current and the discharge current are important to estimate the condition of the silicone rubber surface. In this paper, the average leakage current, the relation of surface discharge current and phase angle were study to investigate electrical conduction of silicone rubber surface with the salt fog condition.

대면적 정전 접합 장치 고안 및 Si과 Glass 접합에 미치는 불순물의 영향 (Design of Electrostatic Bonding Equipment for Large Area and the Effect of Contamination Particle on the Si-glass Electrostatic Bonding)

  • 대면적 정전 접합 장치를 고안 및 제작하여 Si과 glass를 정전 접합시켰다. 여러 온도에서 정전 접합 후 접합 면적을 측정하였으며 접합이 이루어진 경우 그 접합 면적이 90%를 넘었다. 접합시 전류를 측정하여 접합 강도와의 관계를 살펴보였다. 잔류 공공을 생성시키는 원인은 재료의 표면 거칠기 차이나 전극의 모양보다는 불순물 입자에 의한 것임이 밝혀졌고 같은 크기의 불순물 입자에 대한 공공의 크기는 접합 온도가 높을수록 감소하였다. 정전 접합에 미치는 불순물의 영향을 공공의 크기 및 불순물 입자의 크기를 측정하여 살펴보았다.
