Allocation Model of Container Yard for A TC Optimal Operation in Automated Container Terminal

  • In this paper, we deal with an allocation model of vertical type container yard for minimizing the total ATC (Automated Transfer Crane) working time and the equivalence of ATC working load in each block on automated container terminal. Firstly, a layout of automated container terminal yard is shown The characteristic of equipment which work in the terminal and its basic assumption are given Next, an allocation model which concerns with minimizing the total working time and the equivalence of working load is proposed for effectiveness of ATC working in automated container terminal. Also, a weight values on critical function are suggested to adjust the critical values by evaluating the obtained allocation plan. For ATC allocation algorithm, we suggest a simple repeat algorithm for on-line terminal operation.

  • Automation of a container terminal is a world-wide tendency nowadays. The interest of ACT (Automated Container Terminal) is increasing more and more because of necessity of container terminal with higher competitive power and ultramodern equipment to down the cost and up the efficiency. ECT (Europe Combined Terminals) and CTA (Container Terminal Altenwerder) have studied a detailed technique for the operation of ACT. In Korea, many projects related to the development of ACT are working at present. However, indiscreet introduction of ACT may cause tremendous loss. Thus it is much important thing that we search relevant automation level or type for an environment In this study, we propose the necessary strategy in developing ACT through analyzing the present condition, automated equipments and property of operation at advanced An. If the strategy is applied in development of domestic ACT, we'll be able to build ACT with higher competitive power.

컨테이너 터미널 유형 평가 - 생산성 및 비용 분석 중심 - (Evaluation of Container Terminal Types)

  • 컨테이너 터미널은 유형별로 터미널 배치 형태, 장비 종류 및 규모 등이 다르기 때문에 생산성 및 경제성 측면에서 차이가 있다. 따라서, 객관적인 기준을 바탕으로 하여 생산성 및 경제성을 평가함으로써 각 터미널 형태에 대한 이해를 높일 필요가 있다. 본 논문은 이러한 필요성에 따라 기존의 재래 터미널, ECT 무인 터미널 그리고 Ceres 도크 식 터미널 등 현재 개장 중인 3개 터미널 형태에 대하여 총면적, 안벽길이, 투입 장비 등을 기준으로 생산성을 분석하고, 장비 구입비, 건설비, 인건비 등을 포함하는 총비용을 도출하여 경제성을 평가한다. 또한, 이러한 결과와 우리나라의 터미널 운영 환경을 고려하여 각 유형의 도입 타당성을 검토하고, 최적 유형과 유형별 도입 단계를 제시한다.

  • In this paper, we propose a row warehouse type container yard (WTCY) which deal with the excess of port´s container capacity in 2004 instead of using the Yangsan inland container depot (ICD) in Pusan container terminals. Because the off dock container yard (ODCY) which located in Pusan port around exceeds the port´s capacity in 2004, the Yansan ICD will be used for handling an overflowed amount of containers. But there are need an amount of extra expense includes social overhead capital (SOC) to transports containers to Yangsan ICD.   • Automation ensures accurate and well-organized container transportation in container terminals. This paper addresses operational issues such as equipment scheduling and the coordination between various pieces of equipment in a rail-based automated container terminal. Containers are relayed using multiple types of equipment from road trucks to a vessel and vice versa. Therefore, handshaking is required during a container transfer between different pieces of equipment. Synchronization between the schedules of all the equipment is important to reduce equipment waiting times and the time required for transporting containers, which results in a short turnaround time for a vessel. This paper proposes an integrated control system with the objective of synchronizing the operations of different types of equipment, provides a list of decisions to be made by the control module of each type of equipment, and shows all the required information transfers between control modules. A scheme for the integrated scheduling of multiple types of equipment is proposed. The decisions made by each control module in a real-time fashion are listed with detailed explanations, and the information transfer between managers in a real-time situation at the proposed terminal is described.

  • Automated container terminals have been developed over the world years and many countries are interested in them because the amount of containers exported or imported is rapidly increasing. The conventional container terminals were not designed to handle this kind of heavily many containers. They would face many structural problems soon or later, although they have been managed to do well so far. One of the most important things in automated container terminal is the handing equipments able to transfer many containers efficiently. Those are maybe automated transfer cranes, automatic guided vehicles and automated quay-side cranes. The word 'automated' means the equipment is operated without drivers and those equipments are able to work without any interruption in working schedule. Through the researches on the conventional transfer cranes, we decided that the structure of conventional transfer cranes is not proper in automated container terminal and it is not possible to handle so many container in limited time. Therefore we have been studying on the proper structure of the automated container for past several years and a new type of transfer cranes has been developed. Design concept and control method of the new crane are introduced and experimental results are presented in this paper.his paper.

활하중 분포에 따른 콘크리트 부유식 컨테이너 터미널의 구조성능 및 거동 (Structural Performance and Behavior of Concrete Floating Container Terminal by Live Load Distributions)

  • 본 연구에서는 총 10가지 다양한 컨테이너 활하중 분포에 따른 콘크리트 부유식 컨테이너 터미널 하부슬래브의 휨응력분포와 변위분포를 비교분석하였다. 또한, 대상구조물의 구조성능과 거동을 수치해석적으로 검토하였다. 활하중 분포에 따른 구조성능 검토결과 3가지 하중분포 (A, B, D-type)는 인장거동을 보이며, 그 외의 7가지 하중분포 (C, E, F, G, H, I, J-type)에서는 압축거동을 나타내었다. 특히, D, F-type에서는 과도한 압축응력이 발생하였으며, 부력 프리플랙션 제어를 통하여 압축응력을 저감할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다. 활하중 분포에 따른 구조거동 검토결과 B, E, F, I-type에 대한 부유구조체의 기울기가 메가플로트 기준을 초과하였으며, 이와 같은 하중분포는 컨테이너 적하 시에 회피해야 될 것으로 판단된다. 종합적으로, 부유식 컨테이너 터미널에 관련된 기준 및 연구가 많지 않은 현실을 감안할 때, 본 연구는 컨테이너 터미널의 구조성능 및 거동을 검토를 위한 초석이 될 것이며, 사용 가이드라인으로 활용이 가능할 것으로 판단된다.

A Comparative Study on European Container Terminal Operation System

  • As the competition in the liner shipping industry is becoming fiercer, the shipping company is trying to find the way to keep the best competitive position by reducing the cost level as low as possible and offering the best quality of service to their customer. In order to achieve this goal, the selection of port and terminal that have the best quality of service and cost effective structure is essential for the shipping line, where they can only have a chance to save the money. In this context, the paper compares three European container terminals in order to understand the factors that have to be considered in the decision making process for the selection of terminal. And its advantages and disadvantages of each type of container terminal operation system were analyzed from the liner shipping company's point of view in terms of cost, time, flexibility, stability, hinterland connection, geographical position and terminal productivity. It is obvious that the cost factors are very important for liner shipping company to select their terminal. However, there might be even more important factors than the cost factors, such as quality of port and terminal service, mutual trust, and possibility of future development.
