Scanning Thermal Microscope (SThM) is the tool that can map out temperature or the thermal property distribution with the highest spatial resolution. Since the local temperature or the thermal property of samples is measured from the extremely small heat transferred through the nanoscale tip-sample contact, improving the sensitivity of SThM probe has always been the key issue. In this study, we develop a new design and fabrication process of SThM probe to improve the sensitivity. The fabrication process is optimized so that cantilevers and tips are made of thermally grown silicon dioxide, which has the lowest thermal conductivity among the materials used in MEMS. The new design allows much higher tip so that heat transfer through the air gap between the sample-probe is reduced further. The position of a reflector is located as far away as possible to minimize the thermal perturbation due to the laser. These full $SiO_2$ SThM probes have much higher sensitivity than that of previous ones.

Objective: The purpose was to review the diagnostic performance of the length of tumor capsular contact (LCC) on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for detecting prostate cancer extraprostatic extension (EPE). Materials and Methods: PubMed and EMBASE databases were searched up to March 24, 2019. We included diagnostic accuracy studies that evaluated LCC on MRI for EPE detection using radical prostatectomy specimen histopathology as the reference standard. Quality of studies was assessed using the Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies-2 tool. Sensitivity and specificity were pooled and graphically presented using hierarchical summary receiver operating characteristic (HSROC) plots. Meta-regression and subgroup analyses were conducted to explore heterogeneity. Results: Thirteen articles with 2136 patients were included. Study quality was generally good. Summary sensitivity and specificity were 0.79 (95% confidence interval [CI] 0.73-0.83) and 0.67 (95% CI 0.60-0.74), respectively. Area under the HSROC was 0.81 (95% CI 0.77-0.84). Substantial heterogeneity was present among the included studies according to Cochran's Q-test (p < 0.01) and Higgins I2 (62% and 86% for sensitivity and specificity, respectively). In terms of heterogeneity, measurement method (curvilinear vs. linear), prevalence of Gleason score ≥ 7, MRI readers' experience, and endorectal coils were significant factors (p ≤ 0.01), whereas method to determine the LCC threshold, cutoff value, magnet strength, and publication year were not (p = 0.14-0.93). Diagnostic test accuracy estimates were comparable across all assessed MRI sequences. Conclusion: Greater LCC on MRI is associated with a higher probability of prostate cancer EPE. Due to heterogeneity among the studies, further investigation is needed to establish the optimal cutoff value for each clinical setting.

Purpose : The purpose of this study is to evaluate the usefulness and limitation of QuantiFERON-TB Gold (QTB) for diagnosis of latent tuberculosis in children. Methods : The medical records of 112 children who were tested by tuberculin skin test (TST) and QTB for detection of latent tuberculosis (TB) in Eulji General Hospital during the period from January 2007 to June 2009 were retrospectively reviewed. Results : Of the 112 participants, the clinical TB group included 15 (13.4%), the contact group included 43 (38.4%), and the non-contact group included 54 (48.2%). Positive rates of TST and QTB were 100% and 80% in the clinical TB group, 64% and 14% in the close contact group, 27% and 0% in the casual contact group, and 52% and 2% in the non-contact group, respectively. Sensitivity of QTB was 80.0% and specificity was 92.6%. Agreement between QTB and TST was poor ($\kappa$=0.209). We also confirmed that the positive rate of QTB increased as the age of the patient increased (P=0.011). A QTB indeterminate result was observed in 11 (9.8%) subjects. QTB was retested in 15 subjects. In 5 of the 6 subjects who had positive results initially, positive results persisted for a median 2.2 months after termination of treatment. Conclusion : Although QTB was associated with several problems, including low sensitivity and a high rate of indeterminate results, it had clinical importance due to its high specificity. We found good correlation with regard to exposure and QTB positivity, including that of young children under 5 years of age. However, clinical application of interferon-$\gamma$ releasing assay for young children for diagnosis of active and latent tuberculosis will require additional prospective studies.
Gas sensing properties of P-N contact ceramics, composed of ZnO and CuO pairs sintered at different temperatures, were studied for 1% CO gas. Between 10$0^{\circ}C$ and 32$0^{\circ}C$ temperature range, it was observed that 2-probe current-voltage (I-V) characteristics, temperature and voltage dependence of sensivities were dependant largely upon ZnO samples. Pairs including a ZnO sample sintered at 110$0^{\circ}C$ showed maximum senitivity of 9 and 13 depending upon counterpart CuO samples, at 260~29$0^{\circ}C$. On the other hand, pairs including a ZnO samples sintered at 90$0^{\circ}C$ showed increasing sensitivity within in the measured temperature range and maximum sensitivities were about 4.
The research described in this paper was aimed toward improving the understanding of the interaction of tire inflation pressure and the soil-tire interface stresses. A three-directional stress transducer was developed to measure stress distribution on undertread for a tractor tire. The transducer can directly measure three-directional stresses (normal stress, tangental stress and lateral stress and lateral stress) simultaneously and has both strong structure and high sensitivity, which is not changed by the abrasion of the detecting plate. Measurements of soil-undertread interface stresses were made at tire center on undertread on a 12.4-R24 radial tractor tire opeated at three combinations of a dynamic load (11.8kN) and three inflation pressures (59kPa, 108kPa and 157kPa). These measurements showed that as inflation pressure increased, the soil-undertread interface stresses increased. The results of three stresses comparisons were shown that the peak normal stresses were considerably higher than the tangential peak stresses and the peak lateral stresses.

Hypoid gears are widely used in rear drive and 4WD vehicle axles. Investigation of their sensitivity to deflections is one of the most important aspects of their design and optimization procedures. The deflection test is performed in the actual gear mounting using completely processed gear. This test should cover the fun operating range of gear loads from no load to peak load. Under peak load the contact pattern should extend to the tooth boundaries without showing a concentration of the contact pattern at any point on the tooth surface. Transmission error is tested on an axle assembly triaxial real car load condition.

This study discusses a non-contact optical technique, electronic speckle pattern interferometry(ESPI), that is well suited for a deformation measurement of structure. Phase shifting method and unwrapping method have used to make deformation quantitative widely. In this paper, a previous numerical formula for phase shifting method is reconstructed in addition to least square fitting method to improve sensitivity and phase unwrapping based on vertical-horizontal scanning method is applied to analyze in-plane and out-of-plane deformation quantitatively.

The squeal propensity of an automotive disc brake system is studied in the theoretical and computational manner. The rotating disc is in contact with two stationary pads and the nonlinear friction is engaged on the contact surface. The friction-coupled equations of motion are derived in the finite element(FE) of the actual brake disc and pad. From the general definition of friction force, the rotation and in-plane mode effects can be included properly in the brake squeal model. The eigenvalue sensitivity analysis and the mode shape visualization at squeal frequencies are also conducted for the detailed investigation. It is found that the squeal propensity is strongly influenced by rotation effect and the in-plane mode can be involved in squeal generation.
The NAUT(Non contact Air coupled Ultrasonic Testing) is one of the ultrasonic wave inspection methods. It compensates High power ultrasound Pulser Receiver, pre-amp, air probe of high sensitivity in air to generate loss energy by NAUT methods. Generally, in case of ultrasound inspection, it applies contact methods by using couplant. However it can inspect of UT without couplant by this NAUT. The ultrasound transmission reception is composed in stable condition in NAUT. It can inspect high low material or the specimen of rough part, the narrow spot, too. The spot welding is applying the inosculation of automobile component, car body, all boards. The CFRP is necessity of NDE because of the solidity changes material according to lamella tearing. Therefore it checked on realization whether and commercialization in the spot welding and CFRP inspection that the NAUT would be applied them.
This paper presents investigation of a three-dimensional (3-D) nonlinear finite element model analysis to examine the behavior of reinforced concrete beams strengthened with Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) composites to enhance the flexural capacity and ductility of the beams. Three-dimensional nonlinear finite element models were developed between the internal reinforcement and concrete using a smeared relationship. In addition, bond models between the concrete surface and CFRP composite were developed using a smeared bond for general analyses and a contact bond for sensitivity analyses. The results of the FEA were compared with the experimental data on full-scale members. The results of two finite-element bonding models showed good agreement with those of the experimental tests.
