Monolayer thick fluorocarbon films were characterized by the contact angle measurements. The contact angles of three different liquids, water, formamide and diiodomethane were measured on spun coated, vapor phased deposited films and Teflon surface. The highest contact angle over $130^{\circ}$was observed on fluorocarbon films deposited on Al substrates while the lowest angles below $70^{\circ}$deposited on oxide. The surface energies were calculated based on Lewis acid /base theory. The surface energies of Teflon and spin coated FC films were calculated to have 18 and 8.4 dynes /cm, respectively. Higher energies of 31 to .35 dynes /cm were calculated on vapor phase deposited films on silicon and oxide. However vapor phase deposited films on aluminum only showed a large Lewis base energy term. It might be explained by the surface roughness and heterogeneity as observed by dynamic contact angles and AFM measurements.

Gas-liquid contact tests above a perforated-plate were conducted with air and water at flooding gas-flow conditions in order to study two-phase flow characteristics in a limestone-gypsum SO2 absorber. Gas layers were in the form of air pockets and confined to the limited areas around each duct pipe, while the remaining tary area were in the wet condition. The liquid above the tray was always in the flooded and even fluidized conditions at gas flows over the range studied, although vigorous bubbly or churn-turbulent two-phase regime was only observed in the immediate vicinity of the gas hole exit at low gas loads. The froth zone was extremely active to provide intimate contact between gas and liquid so that the necessary mass transfer operation can take place, which is the primary purpose of high-performance SO2 absorbers. Howefer, the absorber $\Delta$P was 250mmH2O for the initial water level at 150mm, which is an important issue to be resolved for economical operation of the SO2 absorber. It was seen in the liquid level-and gas flow-transient tests that changes in the absorber liquid inventory were much more pronounced for intimate gas-liquid contact than changes in the gas flow. Based on the 4- and 8-duct pipe test results, grouping the duct pipes near the center of the test tray seemed to promote better recirulation of liquid from gas-liquid contact zone back to the reaction tank so that the absorbed SO2 can be neutralized.
The distinguishing characteristic of the glow discharge is that chemical reaction induced by partially ionized gases are limited only to the substrate surface. Most studies have been done on the plasma etching and polymerization. The graft polymerization in vapour phase by cold plasma has been rarely investigated. In this study the system of tub3ar reaction chamber with capacitively coupled electrode of alternative current of 60 Hz was employed for the graft polymerization. The graft polymerization of Acylic Acid(AA) onto the poly (ethylene terephthalate) (PET) was carried out by treatment of PET film and fabric by cold plasma (glow discharge of argon gas), followed by the supply of AA vapour. The graft yield was about 1 wt%. The surface property was determined by contact angle, the surface tension was evaluated by zisman’s plot and equation of surface tension mesurement. The results were as follows: 1. In order to obtain lower contact angle, it was effective to avoid the vicinity of electrodes for a setting position of substrate. 2. Contact angle affected on the monomer pressure and its duration of exposure to the acid vapour. 3. Polymer radical formation was influenced by the changes of the value of current density and plasma treatment time. 4. Total surface tension of plasma grafted PET film increased. With an increase in the carboxylic acid content, the dispersion force decreased, while, the polar force and hydrogen bonding force increased. 5. The contact angle decreased from $75^\circ$ to around $30^\circ$ by plasma grafting. There was no ageing effect on the contact angle after 4 months.
This study was conducted to compare biomechanical differences in throwing movement between skilled and unskilled high school students using three-dimensional analysis system with a force platform. The findings indicated that skilled students showed shorter throwing time, faster horizontal speed of (1) the center of mass at heel contact of left foot, (2) the forearm throughout swing phase, (3) the hand after heel contact while unskilled students showed faster horizontal speed of, (1) the center of mass after heel contact and (2) the hand at heel contact of left foot. Skilled students showed greater (1) shoulder angle during throwing, (2) elbow angle after take off of foot, (3) peak vertical ground reaction force during throwing and (4) peak anterior-posterior ground reaction force at heel contact of right foot. While skilled students showed leaning backward of the trunk during throwing, unskilled students showed leaning forward during release phase with leaning backward before release.
This study was conducted to investigate the performance times, CM position and CM speed, pole chord length and pole chord angle, whole body angular momentum(X axis), and grip width in pole vault event according to the event and phase; touch down, pole plant, take-off, maximum pole bending pole straight, pole release, peak height, and foot contact, pole contact, free flight. The pole vaulting of four male elite vaulters including six trial were filmed using two video digital cameras at 60 Hz at 56th national athletic match, and data were collected through the DLT method of three dimensional cinematography. In general the better jumper is, the longer the performance time is. And the greater CM speed is, and the better his transformation ability of CM horizontal speed into vertical speed is. As he uses a longer pole, his grip is higher, and it is a enough for him to rock back his body, so that he pulls and pushes the pole well keeping his hips close to. An greater maximum angular momentum and early positioning of the hips parallel to the bar makes his body far side of the bar and his bar clearance easier. Specially our national jumper needs to have more powerful braking force during foot contact phase, and take his body on the pole after maximum pole bending, and pull and push the pole strongly keeping his hips close to. Also he needs to have stronger muscular strength in order to control the longer pole and use the pole of proper tension more efficiently.

This paper is aimed to understand the effect of different galvannealing temperatures on the frictional properties and Fe-Zn intermetallic phases of the galvannealed (GA) coatings on steel sheets. Their galvannealing treatments were conducted at 465, 505, 515 and $540^{\circ}C$ for about 10s in the additional heating furnace of an industrial continuous hot-dip galvanizing line. The mechanical and the frictional properties of the coatings were estimated using nanoindentation, nanoscratch, micro vickers hardness tests and flat friction tests, which were performed at contact pressures of 4, 20 and 80MPa. Also, the correlation between the microstructure and the frictional properties of the GA coatings were investigated by SEM observation for the cross-section of the GA coating after and before flat friction tests. The results showed that the mechanical and the frictional properties of the coatings are strongly dependent on their phase distributions and microstructure. Especially, in low contact pressure of 4MPa the frictional properties of the coatings were dependent on the surface phases and morphology, while in high contact pressure of 80MPa it was influenced by their mechanical properties based on the dominant phase distributions.

And the ankle joint angle of treadmill walking was significantly decreased in initial contact phase.
The characteristics of de-emulsification of pertroleum emulsion by Nocardia amarae were investigated. Insoluble medium containing n-hexadecane was more effective than soluble medium in de-emulsification of emulsion containing diesel and bunker C as the organic phase. Emulsion made by the addition of xanthan or bioemulsifier was de-emulsified by N. amarae, and longer culture age was effective. In low viscosity range, organic phase with longer carbon chain was more effective. The contact, angle between bacterial film and water droplet in air increased from 16 degree for 4 day culture age to 26 degree for 15 day. The contact angle between bacterial film and water droplet in kerosene, n-heyxane or n-hexadecane also increased to greater than 100 degree after 3 day culture age. The hydrophobicity of bactgerial film increased according to the culture age.

Contact and frictional locking conditions and the effect of shielding due to contact at the facet, which could be represented by the difference in energy release rate, as a function of phase angle of loading are analyzed in this study for the case of interfacial cracks by assuming single crack-kink model. The analysis of contact effects on interfacial fracture resistance shows that relative shielding increases as the shear component was increased, which indicates a qualitative agreement with the previous experimental results.
Rolling contact fatigue (RCF) tests were performed for two kinds of commercial silicon nitride balls using 4-Ball rolling contact fatigue life tester under EHL condition (Λ=8.9) and boundary lubrication condition (Λ=0.2). All the test balls were finished up to the dimensional accuracy of Grade 5 defined in KS B 2001 (Steel Balls for Ball Bearings) with a size of 8.731 mm. RCF tests were then conducted under the initial theoretical maximum contact stress 6.63 GPa and the spindle speed 10,000 rpm. All the test balls were not failed until 3.75 $\times$ 107 contact cycles and wear tracks of test balls were not conspicuous under EHL condition (Λ= 8.9). In the operations of low lambda regime (Λ= 0.2), all the test balls were surface damaged and high rolling wear resistance was achievable in fully densified using MgO 1 wt% and HIPed balls. Rolling wear of silicon nitride balls under boundary lubrication condition depend mainly on grain size and intergranular phase content of silicon nitride balls.
