This study aims to derive key construction supervision work that can be digitalized among construction supervision work. The scope of the study includes domestic construction sites to which the Building Act of South Korea is applied. First, the construction supervision process was identified through extensive consultation of construction expert witnesses. Afterwards, the key construction supervision works for digitization were derived through survey results construction expert witnesses. Among the 24 supervision works throughout the pre-construction, construction, and post-construction stages, the proportion of supervision work manpower or cost, the type of data generated by supervision work and the urgency of introducing digital technology, and the impact on productivity and safety of supervision work were evaluated on a 5-point scale from "very low" to "very high" was investigated. The survey was conducted by t-test analysis, and as a result, it was possible to derive that the level of digitization was higher than average in "quality management," "safety management," and "collection and cooperation of maintenance instructions." It can be interpreted that digitization has been introduced on a pilot testing basis or has already been completed according to the needs of the site. On the other hand, it can be interpreted that the work that are obtained below the average score are considered to be realistically constrained at the construction site and that it is inevitable for the supervisor to proceed manually. Future studies include analyzing the quantitative impact of the key construction supervision work once digitalization is fully applied.
Unlike production line works, construction work is non-repetitive in nature. In this study, a checklist was developed to characterize the ergonomic hazards of construction work. Eight existing checklists including OWAS, RULA, and REBA were integrated, and a new version was designed to include more postures of lower extremities. The analysis results obtained using the new checklist showed that manual materials handling (MMH) is the most common risk factor. About 62% of the MMH was done below the knee level or above the elbow level, and 22% was carried out with the trunk twisted more than $60^{\circ}$. The next risk factors were the works done with the knee bent or squatted, or with the shoulders abducted. It can be concluded that the new checklist is successful as a quick and easy tool for screening risk factors of construction works, although it is not capable of determining action levels. Further studies on validation of the checklist are expected.
A down construction method is frequently used in these days to reduce popular discontent and to assure sufficient working space at early stage in downtown area. There are two main problems in the existing down construction method. One is a confliction between frame works and excavation works, and the other is a cold joint in retaining wall which is unavoidable due to a sequence of concrete placement and induces a water leakage. Therefore, a new method is needed to overcome these problems. The CWS (buried wale Continuous Wall System) method was developed by authors. By replacing RC perimeter beam with embedded steel wale, the steel frame works of substructure can be simplified and the water leakage can be prevented using continuous retaining wall. Consequently, the improved qualify and reduction of construction period can be obtained from CWS method.
This study compared and analyzed the job importance that site managers perceived by dividing the study scope into customized and expansion remodeling projects and deriving the job descriptions from previous studies. As a result, a total of 7 construction stages and 53 job descriptions were derived. As job importance in customized remodeling projects, removal and demolition works were the most important, followed by preliminary survey, and repair and reinforcement works. In addition, as job importance in expansion remodeling projects, preliminary survey is the most important, followed by civil engineering work, and repair and reinforcement works. It is considered that the job importance of the remodeling projects derived in this study will contribute to improving their job efficiency in the future.
The purpose of this study is to recycle the waste concrete which is generated in large quantities as crushed stone in construction works. This study deals with the comparative analysis on the construction works and engineering properties of recycled aggregate concrete through physical experiment. The experimental variables are the kinds of aggregates, some different aggregate composition, and W/C ratio(0.40, 0.45, 0.50). It is able to find from the experimental results that the recycled aggregate concrete is good as general concrete on the construction works and engineering propperties. In addition to, the reliable regression analysis equations between compressive strength and various experimental data for recycled aggregate concrete are presented.
The soft structure can make large space more effectively, and its construction is easy and simple as well. However, it is not easy to realize this in the actual space. Therefore, two works are needed to be done for effective and accurate construction of soft structures. First, making a working scenario to complete the final objective form; second revising construction errors occurred in the middle of the actual works. These works are called constructional analysis. At this time, geometric nonlinearity should be considered to reflect the sensitivity by the initial stress of flexible structures, constructional analysis comes down to a nonlinear problem after all. This study approaches nonlinear constructional analysis with the numerical method for adjusting stress of cable-dome structures which are a soft structure system, and then verifies it.
The construction finishing work is emphasized according to high dependence on labor and long term that occupy approximately 40% in construction period, so that it is required for the alternatives such as automation technology. However, it is insufficient to develop the automation technology of construction finishing work compared to other works, for instance, frame work. Also it is not enough about this preliminary research which survey the improvement needs to select the development object. Therefore, this study aimed at derivation of detail works required improvement in ceiling finishing work by the questionnaire survey. These results may provide the basic information to develop the automation technology of construction finishing work.
Recently, with the increasing of construction works, large construction equipment are used to reduce the term of work and labor cost in construction field. Therefore, construction equipment noise has caused much annoyance for a number of dweller in nearby construction field and it has become a very serious problem in our living environment. Neverthless, in our country, adequite guidelines for the construction equipment noise are very deficiency because of the lack of basic data and insufficient research works. From this point of view, this study attempts to survey the characteristics and prediction of piling noise in oil pressure method. On the basis of measurement value, we analysed about prediction possibility of piling noise in oil pressure method.
