Temperature characteristics of iron and molds in summer apartment conditions (여름철 Apt현장 조건에서의 철근 및 거푸집의 온도특성)

  • On apartment construction sites in hot weather environments, the high temperature of 30℃ and above and radiation from the sun cause iron and mold temperatures to rise, which lowers worker efficiency and has a negative effect on the deposited concrete. Therefore this study measured the temperature of D10 ~ D16 iron and aluminum items actually used on box frame apartment construction sites currently under construction, in order to give reference information to solve hot weather concrete problems. The temperature measurement results showed that for iron, temperatures rose to around 45℃, and for mold around 58.8℃, calling for safety measures for workers in case of possible burning and other problems.

  • Increasing constructions of tunnels are become larger of the size and longer of the length. Construction of the tunnellinings is in poor working environment, for example, dark and narrow underground. Therefore, it is difficult to constructlining by required quality in these poor working conditions. In case of the designing tunnel in large scale, particularly, there may be several problems as follows; delay of construction due to a long time in constructing lining and difficulty of quality control. It is also indicated that longitudinal cracks of them are main defects in domestic tunnels. Therefore, in this study, the precast lining method is introduced for solving problems, which are delay of the tunnel construction a d deterioration of tunnel lining. Precast linings have mainly been constructed in Norway and North Europe. A new construction method of tunnel lining, suitable in domestic situation, is introduced by detailed case study. Also, useful materials for design and construction of Precast lining are presented.

  • Dome structure to form a space-efficient, applied a lot of beautiful buildings with structural systems, as well as a large space structure in the form of new residential lots have been applied. And domestic demand for housing in the dome with increasing dome house using various materials, are becoming commonplace. But now the Dome House is mainly used in construction steel, wood, stone, FRP construction and building materials per unit area and the high cost, long construction time, energy efficiency, has some disadvantages such as degradation. And structural strength of the structure is weak, the natural ingredients used come from natural damage is so big. In addition, demolition of buildings in trouble when handling the environmental problems has emerged. Recently expanded polystyrene to improve these problems by using the various approaches and research is being attempted and there.

  • It is required to response to the demand for new space due to high density of population and buildings in urban area. In particular, in case of big cities such as Seoul where the lack of new construction site due to the depletion of available space, existing buildings must be demolished for new construction. Utilization of urban underground space can be an alternative to solve for urban space problems. There are applications of underpinning methods using micropiles for existing buildings. Sometimes, the difficulties come from the compact space available for new foundation underneath the existing ones. In this paper, a novel underpinning method is introduced which can solve the space restriction problems underneath existing columns.

  • The purpose of this research is to perform a case study for verifying problems of BIM application to the building construction project using Fast Track method. The object of case study is an actual construction project completed in 2013. As a result, some problems and solutions for those were extracted. The result of this study will contribute revitalization to the BIM application in the project using Fast Track method.

  • Apartments, which are typical residential spaces, are reconstructed or remodeled according to aging. However, reconstruction or remodeling of apartment complexes or an individual building requires following relevant laws and policies and requires a lot of time. Therefore, there are cases where apartment residents choose remodeling that improves the living environment by renovating only the interior of their household. In order to improve the interior space of an apartment, various materials such as windows, toilets, walls, and floors are replaced, and lots of matters must be considered in this process. Several problems arise in the process of selecting a remodeling company and carrying out construction, and the problem must be resolved through owner's decision-making. This study analyzes the problems through the case of apartment interior remodeling and suggests ways to improve them.

  • Neglected buildings for long period can seriously reduce the durability of the building due to rust in rebars and deterioration in concrete quality due to exposure to outside air, and the seriousness of suspended buildings such as safety accidents and social crimes is emerging due to poor management. In this study, various problems such as the occurrence of safety accidents were analyzed through a fact-finding survey of buildings that have not been maintained due to long-term neglect in all areas of Jeju. In order to reuse a building that has been discontinued, the safety of the building structure itself must be checked. After securing safety through durability investigation, construction should be resumed or converted into a normal building through re-purposing, dismantling, remodeling, etc.

  • It is necessary for prediction of recycled aggregate concrete(RAC) strength at the early stage that facilitate concrete form removal and scheduling for construction. However, to predict RAC strength is difficult because of being influenced by complicated many factors. Therefore, this research suggest optimized estimation method that can reflect many factors. One way is Case-Based Reasoning(CBR) that solved new problems by adapting solutions to similar problems solved in the past, which are solved in the case library. Other way is Artificial Neural Networks(ANN) that solved new problems by training using a set of data, which is representative of problem domain. This study is to propose comparing accuracy of the estimating the compressive strength of recycled aggregate concrete using Case-Based Reasoning(CBR) and Artificial Neural Networks(ANN).

  • The history of Korea's overseas construction began in 1965, and the cumulative contract amount is about $180 billion over the last 40 years. During the period, Korea's overseas construction industry has played an important role for economic development. However, it seems that the industry is in a sea of trouble. Overseas construction orders have declined due to various reasons such as companies losing confidence, limited financing, lack of competitiveness, and so on. This paper addresses the brief history of Korea's overseas construction industry and the problems that the industry is facing. Then it suggests a few measures for the improvement of the industry.

A Study on Activation Policy of Smart Construction Safety Cost by Analyzing Actually Estimated Amount in Safety Management Plan (스마트건설안전 비용의 안전관리계획서 계상 현황 분석을 통한 활성화 방안 연구)

  • This study analyzed the smart construction safety cost included in safety management plans that are approved before construction. Specifically, it refers to the cost incurred in constructing and operating a safety management system using wireless communication and facilities. Based on the obtained statistical results, an activation policy for the inclusion of the smart construction safety cost in building safety management plans was proposed. The smart construction safety cost must be included in the safety management cost; notably, this is mandated by the Construction Technology Promotion Act. However, there are some problems with the inclusion of smart construction safety costs. To analyze the problems encountered when calculating the smart construction safety cost and including it in safety management plans, in this study, statistical analysis was performed using the data of 1,334 safety management plans received at the Construction Safety Management Integrated Information (CSI) from June to August 2021. The results show that only 50.7% of the safety management plans included the smart construction safety cost although the current law mandates 100% inclusion of these costs. Thus, it is apparent that the smart construction safety costs are only included in a low proportion of sites. In addition, the calculated smart construction safety costs were shown to have a small correlation with the construction cost; moreover, they appeared to be distributed at a constant cost level. In this context, it is believed that perfunctory cost calculations were performed at most sites since the effect of the construction cost on the smart construction safety cost was negligible. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the inclusion of smart construction safety costs by strengthening the authorization process of the approval institute of safety management plans. In addition, institutional support, such as guidelines that promote the calculation and inclusion of appropriate smart construction safety costs according to the characteristics of sites, are needed.
