  • This Research suggested direction of development and analyzed necessity and given condition of CM(Construction Management) operation system of SOC private infrastructure project which is judged to grow up continuously from now on, Direction of development which is suggested in this research is largely there, (1)development of SOC private infrastructure project CM work standard process guide, (2)development of SOC Private Investment project feasibility study Performance standard, (3)checklist of SOC by stages and functionally private investment projects risk. Through this development, later we judge effect not only supply of a model case to artivate CM system but heightening of efficiency in domestic construction industry.

  • The construction industry has the most safety accidents among domestic industries. Special care must be taken because disasters in the construction industry lead to social problems caused by huge property losses and casualties. As a result of this, there is a growing awareness of disasters occurring in the construction industry, and government departments are tightening regulations on safety management. In particular, the OSHA(Occupational Safety and Health Agency) focuses on the expansion of protection targets and the clarification of responsibility in the full amendment OSHA. As a result, a study that focuses on safety management by client's responsibility is needed. In this study, the project performance capability assessment of construction project management contractors, which is being carried out with uniform assessment criteria without considering the characteristics of the construction project, is considered and all the amendments to the OSHA are considered, and the factors were derived for improvement measures.

  • Ever since the CM was implanted in a domestic construction in 1996, it has been needed to take root and activate the CM system as soon as possible. Especially, the applied CM to private construction sector could be a fundamental barometer that how much changed and being advanced the construction system is This means, it is easy to apply CM to a governmental construction, yet it is hard to expect to successfully fix and activate CM for a private construction project unless they admit the necessity and validity of CM. Dongbu Corporation already acknowledged the need of CM in a private enterprise and willingly applied it to a construction sector while building Dongbu financial center, even before the CM was implanted to this country Therefore, this study suggests that the developmental direction of practical CM by examining effects and problems of the CM process.

  • The Korean government makes an effort to raise the competitive power of nation through CM activation in the construction industry. Since the first CM service was applied to the atomic power plant project in 1986, the number of CM contracts are continuously being increased and will be up to 20% by 2002 in public sector. However, the public projects had been executed without any procedure manual or standard guideline of CM services. Meanwhile the Ministry of Construction and Transportation issued $\ulcorner$CM Service Guide$\lrcorner$, but the guide shows an indefinite description in the responsibility, authority and scope of activity for the project participants. Therefore, it is required the procedures be improved and scope of activities be established for the project participants. This study was generated from the comparative analysis of $\ulcorner$Standard CM Services and Practice$\lrcorner$ Published by CMAA and domestic $\ulcorner$CM Service Guide$\lrcorner$ and the case of Incheon International Airport construction. The purpose of this study is to provide the fundamental data for an improvement in the procedures of project execution and the construction manager's activities/rolls shown on $\ulcorner$CM Service Guide$\lrcorner$

  • Many construction companies have been trying to extend their businesses to the development projects after IMF. Project financing was introduced to the construction market and has been popular with construction companies which can not furnish funds for project by themselves. But, there are so many problems that project financing has not been activated in the construction field. One of the main factors that disturb activation of project financing is distrust about construction management among participants. This distrust is caused by the lack of speciality, objectivity, clearness about CM. So, to process business successfully, they need specialty and objectivity for the construction management. In this research, I analyzed the role and duty of the main participants about CM in the development project ana suggested an advanced management structure in order to activate project financing in the development projects.

  • The Construction Management for the Asan Baebang Complex Development PF Project is aiming the solution for the needs of specialized organization and management for the construction of the project, as a independent representative managing the whole process of the super high rise and huge volume of complex project. This case shall be counted as a remarkable one in the point of view that the CM was decided to be encountered even in this consortium project made between the private firm and government, and shows that the project can be executed successfully without having its own organization of a huge number of staffs. This study is for the Construction Management applied for the consortium project between the private firm and government and it is my pleasure if this study could be a help to encourage CM for wide applying in the field by reviewing of its necessity and analyzing of its effect and advantage.
