압축지수를 이용한 압밀침하량 계산식의 압밀층 두께 분할효과 (Stratum Division Effect of Consolidation Settlement Formula Using Compression Index)

  • 연약지반 개량공사에서 최종압밀침하량은 침하관리와 준공시기를 결정하는 데 중요하다. 설계 시 점토층의 최종압밀침하량의 산정은 압축지수를 이용하는 방법이 가장 많이 이용되고 있다. 압축지수는 압밀시험으로 얻어진 하중-침하 관계를 반대수좌표에 나타냈을 때 처녀압축곡선의 기울기이다. 종래에는 압밀층 전체를 한 개의 층으로 보고 최종압밀침하량을 산정해 왔으나, 압밀층을 여러 개의 층으로 분할했을 때 얻어지는 침하량의 차이를 알아보았다. 분할층 수와 상재하중의 크기가 압밀침하량에 미치는 영향에 대하여 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 분할층 수가 증가할수록 침하량은 증가하여 일정한 값에 수렴하며 이러한 양상은 상재하중의 크기와 무관하게 나타났다. 상재하중이 압밀층 두께에 비해 상대적으로 작을 때는 층분할효과가 매우 크게 나타났다. 보편적인 성토하중의 경우 층분할효과는 1.2-1.4 정도로 나타났으며 이 값은 최종압밀침하량 산정 시 안전율의 의미로 사용할 수 있을 것이다.

  • Generally, in case of constructing the embankments on the soft clay layers, one-dimensional consolidation settlement under the assumption of a middle position stress in a single layer makes a great difference with the integral value, ie. the final settlement. Consequently, to find how many equal segments of the soft clay layer are needed to converge into the integral value and which position should be taken as a position of mean stress, authors compared the theoretical value of the settlement due to one-dimensional consolidation with the practical value of the settlement due to two dimensional consolidation. The obtained results are as follows. 1) The practical value of the two-dimensional consolidation settlement can be estimated by the 74-83% theoretical value of the one-dimensional consolidation settlement. 2) When the soft clay layer was cut into 8-16 equal segments according to the depth, one-dimensional consolidation settlement converge into the integral value. 3) Assuming a total soft clay layer as a single one, the depth of a mean stress position is 0.29-0.37 of the thickness of the total soft clay layer. 4) The Hyperbola Method which presumes the long-term settlement from the short-term practical value of settlement is credible, because all practical value of the settlement are in safe side of the standard error of estimation and the correlation coefficient is up to 0.95.

  • Geotextile tube technology has been perceived as an economical solution for liquid sludge treatment, and analyzing its consolidation behavior is necessary to be able to evaluate the dewatering capabilities of large geotextile tubes filled with contaminated soil, tailings, sewage sludge, and so on. The objectives of this study are to present a method that can adequately convey the consolidation behavior of geotextile tubes filled with sewage sludge, and to investigate the effects of various geotextile tube consolidation parameters. In this study, variable coefficients of consolidation are utilized to analyze the consolidation process of geotextile tubes filled with sewage sludge. The consolidation solution was verified by comparing the measured and predicted data from a hanging bag test conducted in the literature. After verifying the proposed solution, the consolidation parameters of a geotextile tube composed of a woven polypropylene outer layer and a non-woven polypropylene layer filled sewage sludge were obtained. Using the obtained parameters, the consolidation behavior of a large-scale composite geotextiles tube was predicted.

Mikasa 압밀이론에 의한 준설토지반의 압밀기간 산정에 관한 연구 (Estimation of Consolidation Period for Dredged Soil by Mikasa Theory)

  • 준설토지반은 보통 연약지반에 비해 상당히 큰 압밀침하가 발생하기 때문에 압밀과정 중 층 두께의 변화가 크다. Mikasa는 층 두께의 변화를 고려하는 더욱 합리적인 압밀계산법을 연구 발표하였으나 아직 국내 현장에서 많이 활용되고 있지 않은 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 100%, 120%, 133%, 150%의 함수비를 갖는 준설토 지반에 대해 Rowe cell 압밀시험기를 이용한 시험을 수행하여 준설토의 압밀특성을 분석하였으며, 층 두께의 변화를 고려하지 않는 경우와 층 두께의 변화를 고려하는 경우 각각 압밀계수를 구하여 비교하였다. 또한 실제 현장 예를 상정하여 압밀기간을 구하여 보았는데, 그 결과 압밀기간은 층 두께의 변화를 고려한 Mikasa 이론의 경우가 그렇지 않은 Terzaghi이론의 경우보다 짧게 산정되었다. 그리고, 더욱 정확한 결과를 주는 Mikasa이론이 실용적으로 이용될 수 있도록 압밀계산법에 대해 자세히 언급하였다.

  • The traditional concept after Terzaghi was that consolidation was the dissipation process of pore water pressure compatible to external loading which was generated immediately after the loading. However, a theory of one-dimensional consolidation based on elasto-viscous liquid model proposed by Yoshikuni(1994) explained that the process of primary and secondary consolidation was considered to be not a simple process of dissipation of pore water pressure but a simultaneous process of dissipation and generation by external loading. This study attempts to demonstrate general consolidation behaviour of clayey soils including effects of consolidation history, load increment and thickness of cohesive layer by one-dimensional Finite Difference Method(F.D.M) analysis from the viewpoint of elasto-viscous consolidation theory.

  • In general, the term soft ground includes clayey soils, which have large compressibility and small shear resistance due to the external load. All process of consolidation in compressible soils can be explained in terms of a transfer of load from an incompressible pore-water to a compressible soil structure. Therefore, one of the most important subjects about the characteristics of the time-dependent consolidation of the clay foundation by the change of load may be the presumption of the final settlement caused by consolidation and the degree of consolidation according to the time. The problems of discontinuous layer interface are very important in the algorithm and programming for the analysis of multi-layered soils using a numerical analysis, finite difference method. Better results can be obtained by the Process for discontinuous layer interface, since it can help consolidation analysis to model the actual ground. The purpose of this paper Provides an efficient computer algorithm based on numerical analysis using finite difference method(F.D.M.) which account for multi-layered soils to determine the degree of consolidation and excess pore pressures relative to time and positions more realistically.

  • The rate of coating consolidation influences the operation of several coating methods and the final quality of the coating layer. The rate of coating consolidation is characterized with a dynamic gloss meter at short times for a thin coating layer applied to the base sheet of interest. During the coating consolidation process, the laser gloss meter response curve exhibits two critical turning points that indicate the two coating immobilization points defined by the traditional methods. Five base sheets with several different coating suspensions are characterized. A model is proposed to estimate the rate of consolidation based on physical properties of the coating suspension, the base paper, and the liquid phase of the coating. The paper properties, especially the contact angle, are found to be an important factor in determining rate of consolidation. The model predicts the correct trends for the different coating suspensions and base sheets. The test method, along the model, can be used to determine the filtercake resistance of the coating layer for a thin and rapidly formed filtercake.

  • The application of Terzaghi's theory of consolidation for analysing the settlement of multi-layered soils is not strictly valid because the theory involves an assumption that the soil is homogeneous. The settlement of stratified soils with confined aquifer can be analysed using numerical techniques whereby the governing differential equation is replaced by 2-dimensional finite difference approximations. The problems of discontinuous layer interface are very important in the algorithm and programming for the analysis of multi-layered consolidation using a numerical analysis, finite difference method(F.D.M.). 준설매립 점토지반의 침강 . 압밀거동 (Sedimentation & Consolidation Behaviour of Dredged Clay Fill)

  • 해성점토를 이용하여 준설매립한 부지의 장기적인 침하거동을 규명하기 위하여 실린더와 대형토조를 이용하여 침강.자중압밀시험을 수행하였으며, 준설매립단지에 자동무선계측시스템을 설치하여 매립부지의 층별침하량과 간극수압의 변화를 계측하였다. 이를 이용하여 준설매립 공정에 따른 매립지층의 침하거동을 분석하고 유한변형률 압밀이론을 이용한 수치해석 결과와 비교하였다. 침하거동 분석결과, 불연속 준설매립공정으로 인하여 매립지층의 분리 현상이 발생하였고 지층별 침하거동이 상이하게 나타났다.

  • This paper evaluated the feasibility of laser consolidation for improving the properties of the plasma coated layer, Further, the mechanim of the degradation sequence of the chrome carbide layer applied on the turbine blades was postualted. The laser consolidation could be successfully applied for improcing the surface properties of the plasma coated blade, if a proper condition was carefully chosen. The consolidated layer had erosion & corrosion resistance and vond strength superiro to those of the as-plasma coated layer. The properties of the consolidated layer were strongly dependent upon the degree of dilution, especially on the Fe pickup from the substrate. The degradation of the plasma coating layer was thought to be a reault of the repeating action of the solid particle erosion, corrosion penetration through the pores and oxide films formed along the interlayer surface and impact spalling.
