  • In this paper, we study two types 1-lightlike submanifolds M, so called lightlike hypersurface and half lightlike submanifold, of an indefinite Kaehler manifold $\bar{M}$ admitting non-metric ${\pi}$-connection. We prove that there exist no such two types 1-lightlike submanifolds of an indefinite Kaehler manifold $\bar{M}$ admitting non-metric ${\pi}$-connections.

  • We study the geometry of lightlike submanifolds of a semi-Riemannian manifold. The purpose of this paper is to prove two singular theorems for irrotational lightlike submanifolds M of a semi-Riemannian space form $\bar{M}(c)$ admitting a semi-symmetric non-metric connection such that the structure vector field of $\bar{M}(c)$ is tangent to M.

  • The study is an experimental test on full-scale flat plate slab-column interior connection. The punching shear on the flat plate slab-column connection can bring about the reason of the brittle punching shear failure which may result of collapsing the whole structure. From the development of residential flat plate system, the shear reinforcement is developed for preventing the punching shear. For making sure of the punching shear capacity, developed for shear reinforcement in slab-column connection, the structural test is performed. The dimension of the slabs was 2620*2725*180mm with square column (600*800mm). The slabs were tested up to failure monotonic vertical shear forces. The presences of S/S bar and wire mesh substantially increased the punching shear capacity and the ductility of the slab-column connections.

  • In this paper a systematic numerical analysis is performed to obtain the bending moment resisting capacity of a top and seat angle connection, which is a type of partially restrained connection, for a CFT composite frame subjected to cyclic loading. This partially restrained composite CFT connections are fabricated using high strength steel connection bar. The three-dimensional nonlinear finite element models are constructed to investigate the rotational stiffness, bending moment capacity, and failure modes. A wide scope of additional structural behaviors explain the different influences of the top and seat angle connection's parameters, such as the different thickness of connection angles and the gage distances of the high strength steel bar. The moment-rotation angle relationships obtained from the finite element analysis are compared with those from Richard's theoretical equation.

  • Steel Plate for Rebar Connection was recently developed to splice rebars in delayed slab-wall joints in high-rise building, slurry wall-slab joints, temporary openings, etc. It consists of several couplers and a thin steel plate with shear key. Cyclic loading tests on slab-wall joints were conducted to verify structural behavior of the joints having Steel Plate for Rebar Connection. For comparison, joints with Rebend Connection and without splices were also tested. The joints with Steel Plate for Rebar Connection showed typical flexural behavior in the sequence of tension re-bar yielding, sufficient flexural deformation, crushing of compression concrete, and compression rebar buckling. However, the joints with Rebend Connection had more bond cracks in slabs faces and spalling in side cover-concrete, even though elastic behavior of the joints was similar to that of the joints with Steel Plate for Re-bar Connection. Consequently, the joints with Rebend Connection had less strengths and deformation capacities than the joints with Steel Plate for Re-bar Connection. In addition, stiffness of the joints with Rebend Connection degraded more rapidly than the other joints as cyclic loads were applied. This may be caused by low elastic modulus of re-straightened rebars and restraightening of kinked bar. For two types of diameters (13mm and 16mm) and two types of grades (SD300 and SD400) of rebars, the joints with Steel Plate for Rebar Connection had higher strength than nominal strength calculated from actual material properties. On the contrary, strengths of the joints with Rebend Connection decreased as bar diameter increased and as grade becames higher. Therefore, Rebend Connection should be used with caution in design and construction.

  • In this study, computation method of tensile load which develops in tie-bar of reinforced earth, connection strength between tie-bar and eco-block and shear strength of the interface between two eco-blocks were verified by experiments. According to the test results of connection strength test, peak tensile load of D13 deformed bar were close to allowable tensile load of it for situation of infill with soil. Connection strengths of D10 and D13 deformed bars were greater than the allowable tensile load of those respectively for situation of infill with concrete. According to the test results of shear strength of the interface between two eco-blocks, shear resistance parameters, ${\alpha}_u$ and ${\lambda}_u$ were evaluated as 1.7kN/m and 2$27.6^{\circ}$ respectively.

  • We study the geometry of r-lightlike submanifolds M of a semi-Riemannian manifold $\bar{M}$ with a semi-symmetric non-metric connection subject to the conditions; (a) the screen distribution of M is totally geodesic in M, and (b) at least one among the r-th lightlike second fundamental forms is parallel with respect to the induced connection of M. The main result is a classification theorem for irrotational r-lightlike submanifold of a semi-Riemannian manifold of index r admitting a semi-symmetric non-metric connection.

  • We investigate the relation between the presence of bars in galaxies and AGN activities. Bars are believed to play an important role in fueling of AGN. Although there have been many previous studies on this topic, "the AGN-Bar Connection" is still an open question. To better understand the connection, we use a volume-limited sample of 9,726 late-type galaxies brighter than $M_r$=-19.5+5logh at $0.02{\leqq}z{\leqq}0.05489$, drawn from SDSS DR7. Among galaxies in the sample, 1,963 galaxies are classified as AGN-host galaxies based on the emission-line ratios while barred galaxies are identified by visual inspection. The bar fraction in AGN host galaxies (22.5%) is 3-times higher than in star-forming galaxies (8.6%). However, this trend is simply caused by the fact that the bar fraction increases with galaxy mass or luminosity and that AGN host galaxies are on average more massive than star-forming galaxies. Nevertheless, we find that among AGN host galaxies, the bar fraction increases with the Eddington ratio $(L_{[OIII]}/M_{[BH]})$, and this trend remains intact even at fixed galaxy luminosity and stellar velocity dispersion. These results imply that bars play a role in triggering AGNs.

  • We study a lightlike hypersurface M of an indefinite nearly trans-Sasakian manifold ${\bar{M}}$ with an (ℓ, m)-type connection such that the structure vector field ζ of ${\bar{M}}$ is tangent to M. In particular, we focus on such lightlike hypersurfaces M for which the structure tensor field F is either recurrent or Lie recurrent, or such that M itself is totally umbilical or screen totally umbilical.
