  • On a compact manifold without conjugate points, the volume entropy can be obtained as the average mean curvature of the horospheres in the universal covering space. In the case when the volume entropy is zero, we prove that the universal covering space is diffeomorphic to a product space with a line factor. This fact can be considered as a surporting evidence for the Mane's conjecture, which claims the flatness of the mainfold.

  • In this paper, the theoretical analysis and the computer simulation of a new modified cochran's triangular interferometer as an incoherent holography, which can eliminate bias and conjugate image problems of the conventional cochran's triangular interferometer, are spresented. In other words, it is theoretically derived by using jones matrix operation that bias and conjugate image can be removed by adding simple optical components including a polarizing beam splitter, wave plates, and linear polarizers to the conventional with a point source, we demonstrated the validity of the suggested method by comparing the modified cocharan's triangular interferometer with the conventional one.

  • In this paper we consider the two tangent lines of isogonal and isotomic conjugates of the line at both vertices of a given triangle. We find the necessary and sufficient condition for the two tangent lines of isogonal or isotomic conjugates of the line at both vertices and the median line to be concurrent. We also prove that every line whose isogonal conjugate tangent lines at both vertices are concurrent with the median line intersects at a unique point. Moreover, we show that the three intersection points correspond to the vertices of triangle are collinear.

  • Progesterone immunogen has been synthesized and its melting point, Rf-value, UV and IR spectrum have been measured to develope the essential step in antisera production against low molecular weight substance. Mixed anhydride reaction was used to conjugate $11{\alpha}$-hydroxy-progesterone with succinic anhydride. Melting point of one intermediate compound was $156^{\circ}C$, and Rf-value was 0.41 in benzene : acetone : methanol (5 : 5 : 2). Maximum absorbance was measured at 242nm and ${\varepsilon}$ was $1.641{\times}10^4cm^2/mole$. Loss of hydroxy group was observed at 3450nm, and carbonyl group was appeared at 1160nm, 1250nm and 2960nm. These results indicated that the intermediate compound was progesterone hemisuccinate. Maximum absorbance of progesterone bovine-serum albumin(BSA) conjugate was observed at 250nm. Molar ratio of progesterone to BSA was average 15.4 on UV spectrum.

  • This paper describes an electrochemical immunoassay for simple, fast and quantitative detection of a urinary hippuric acid which is one of major biological indicator in toluene-exposed humans. The electrochemical system of immunoassay was based on the directly osmium complex conjugated with hippuric acid. With the competition between free hippuric acid (HA) and the osmium-hippuric acid conjugate (Os-HA) to bind with antibody hippuric acid (Anti-HA) coated onto gold nanoparticles, the electrical signals were proportional to urinary hippuric acid (HA) in the range of 0.01-5 mg/mL which is enough range to be used for in-field or point-of-care (POC) diagnosis. The proposed electrochemical method can be extended to the applications to detect a wide range of different small molecules in the field of health care.

  • A relatively simple method of locating the saddle point is presented. In this method a single determination of the saddle point location by constrained energy minimizations for points selected on the assumed saddle surface provides us with the structure, location and energy of the TS, the reaction path at the saddle point and characterization as the TS. Some examples were given.

  • DSM(Digital Surface Model) is a digital model which represents the surface elevation of a region. DSM is necessary for orthoimage generation, and frequently used in man-made object extraction from aerial photographs nowadays. Image matching technique enables automatic DSM generation. This proposed a image matching method which can be applied to automatic generation of DSM for Built-up Area. The matching method proposed is to find conjugate points and conjugate lines from overlapping aerial images. In detecting conjugate points, the positional relation between possible conjugate point pair as well as correlation of pixel gray value is compared. In detecting conjugate lines, the color attribute of flank region of line, shape of line, positional relation between neighborhood points and lines, and the connection relation between lines are compared. The proposed matching method is assumed to be useful for DSM generation including Built-up Area.

  • Oil-in-water emulsion was prepared using cinnamoyl surfactants as emulsifiers. Cinnamoyl surfactants used in the present study were polyoxyethylene (20) sorbitan monolaurate-cinnamic acid conjugate (TW20CA), polyoxyethylene (20) cetyl ether-cinnamic acid conjugate (CE20CA), and polyoxyethylene(20) oleyl ether-cinnamic acid conjugate (OE20CA). The emulsion stabilized with TW20CA was the most stable, possibly because the polyoxyethylene segment of TW20CA would sterically stabilize the oil droplets effectively. In vivo UV protecting efficacy of surfactant and emulsion was investigated by determining the minimum amount of UV light (MAUL) to induce a black point on the back of hairless mice (HRM2). The mean MAUL of PARSOL, OE20CA, and emulsion stabilized with TW20CA was $1046.5mJ/cm^2$, $1163mJ/cm^2$, and $1308.5mJ/cm^2$, respectively. The high UV-protecting efficacy of the emulsion could be ascribed to not only the UV-absorbing property of cinnamoyl group but also the UV-scattering property of the oil droplets.

  • For a complete open Riemannian manifold, the ideal boundary consists of points at infinity. The so-called Busemann-functions play the role of distance functions for points at infinity. We study the similarity and difference between Busemann-functions and ordinary distance functions.

  • To adjust the discrepancy between Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) strips, previous researches generally have been conducted using conjugate features, which are called feature-based approaches. However, irrespective of the type of features used, the adjustment process relies upon the existence of suitable conjugate features within the overlapping area and the ability of employed methods to detect and extract the features. These limitations make the process complex and sometimes limit the applicability of developed methodologies because of a lack of suitable features in overlapping areas. To address these drawbacks, this paper presents a methodology using area-based algorithms. This approach is based on the scheme that discrepancies make complex the local height variations of LIDAR data whithin overlapping area. This scheme can be helpful to determine an appropriate transformation for adjustment in the way that minimizes the geographical complexity. During the process, the contour tree (CT) was used to represent the geological characteristics of LIDAR points in overlapping area and the Iterative Closest Points (ICP) algorithm was applied to automatically determine parameters of transformation. After transformation, discrepancies were measured again and the results were evaluated statistically. This research provides a robust methodology without restrictions involved in methods that employ conjugate features. Our method also makes the overall adjustment process generally applicable and automated.
