  • This study examined the effect of the results of ascertaining prediction on cognitive conflict and conceptual change by physics achievement. The participants of this study were 186 11th graders. They answered a pretest composed of two items, and through a demonstration on either of the two pretest items, they ascertained whether their predictions were correct or not. The cognitive conflicts were measured with CCLT. After brief instructive treatment, a posttest was conducted to measure the degree of conceptual change. The students who ascertained that their predictions were incorrect generated more cognitive conflicts and conceptual changes than those who ascertained they were correct. In addition, cases in which student physics achievement was low were found to produce more meaningful results of ascertaining predictions on cognitive conflict and conceptual change.

  • This study examined 8th-graders' conceptions of force on a simple pendulum and investigated cognitive conflict and conceptual change through kinesthetic experience in swing. Participants of this study were guided to anticipate the direction of total force acting on a pendulum at three critical positions and observed it through swing experience. Having completed this, students read an article explaining the results they observed. Most of them considered gravity, tension, and motion-force to be the real forces acting on a pendulum in pre-test. Though they were interested in the activity and conceded their expectations to be different from observed results, the degrees of their cognitive conflict were not significantly high. In summation, 'interest' was the highest and 'anxiety' was the lowest. Most of the students memorized the direction of forces on a swing, but few could explain the reason behind the occurrence in an immediate post-test and delayed post-test.

The effectiveness of training for civil servants who participated in mock jury trial learning of Suwon-si was verified using CIPP model. Participants valued the significance of the process of training rather than the conclusion that draws a certain solution, and based on the comparison and analysis of pre·post evaluations, the educational effect of mock trial training and its utilization at work in the future was higher than before the training, proving its effectiveness. In terms of the implications of training programs in addition to the program planner's evaluation, participant constitution in consideration of sex or employment period is needed for learning interaction among various learners, and information acquisition training on various local issues and conflict situations, as well as the combination of deliberation learning, are needed. in addition, it may be supplemented through customized conflict management raining related to pending projects for the effectiveness of training.
