  • We report a facile method to fabricate superhydrophobic, transparent and conductive film using multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) which are coated by polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS). In order to prepare a film, PDMS coated MWCNTs were dispersed in solvents and the solution was drop-casted on substrates. It was demonstrated that the PDMS coating enhanced the dispersion of MWCNTs in diverse solvents such as dimethyl formamide(DMF) and acetone without the use of acids or surfactants, which are the common methods. In the case of DMF solvent, dispersion of MWCNT was improved by 40 % upon PDMS-coating of MWCNT. Enhanced dispersion of MWCNTs made it possible to fabricate transparent and conductive film homogeneously on the substrate and PDMS-coating on MWCNTs also made the surface hydrophobic. We can fabricate a uniform and multifunctional MWCNT film (transparent, conductive, superhydrophobic and flexible) which is applicable on large area without any physical damage and expensive equipment.

  • In this paper, two types of assemblies using CNT-filled SACAs (with 0.03 wt% CNTs and without CNT) were prepared to investigate the influence of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) on the reliability properties of solderable anisotropic conductive adhesives (SACAs) with a low-melting-point alloy (LMPA). Two types of reliability test including thermal shock (TS: -55 to $125^{\circ}C$, 1000 cycles) and high-temperature and high-humidity (HTHH: $85^{\circ}C$, 85% RH, 1000 h) tests were conducted. The SACA assemblies with and without CNTs showed stable electrical reliability properties due to the formation of wide and stable metallurgical interconnection between corresponding metallizations by the molten LMPA fillers. Although the mechanical pull strength of CNT-filled SACA assemblies was decreased after thermal aging (because of the excessive layer growth and planarization of the IMCs), the CNT-filled SACA with 0.03wt% CNTs showed enhanced mechanical reliability properties compared with the SACA assemblies no CNTs. This enhancement in mechanical performance was due to the reinforcement effect of the CNTs. These results demonstrate that CNTs within the CNT-filled SACAs can improve the reliability properties of CNT-filled SACAs joints due to their superior physical properties.

  • The transparent conductive film was prepared by bar coating method of poly (3, 4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) and poly (sodium 4-stylenesulfonate) grafted multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNT-PSS) nanocomposites solution on the polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film. In this case, multi-wall carbon nanotubes was treated by chemical methods to obtain water soluble MWNT-PSS and then blending with PEDOT. The non-covalent bonding of polymer to the MWNT surface was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) and Transmission electro microscope (TEM) investigation also showed a polymer-wrapped MWNT structure. Furthermore, the electrical, transmission properties of the transparent conductive film were investigated and compared with control samples are raw PEDOT films.

  • In 2001, Korea produced a total of 4.91 million metric tons of fly ash, approximately 63.3% of which was recycled. Almost all of the recycled fly ash are used in concrete mixtures and cement industry. Therefore, in order to develop a new usage to increase the utilization of the fly ash, conductive induction was used in this research rather than triboelectrostatic. By applying conductive induction, we could verify the possibility of obtaining high purity fly ash below 1%LOI and high carbon fly ash over 70%LOI from raw fly ash. In this test, the potential difference between the two electrodes was conducted by changing the range of 8 to 16 kV.

  • Transparent conductive films can serve as a critical component in displays, solar cells, lasers, optical communication devices, and solid state lighting. Carbon nanotube (CNT) based transparent conductive films are fabricated on glass and polymer substrates. CNTs typically exist in form of quasi-crystalline bundles or highly entangled bundles containing tens of individual nanotubes. To achieve full potential, CNTs must be dispersed in a solvent or other organic media. CNTs are acid treated with nitric acid then the stable dispersion of CNTs in polar solvent such as alcohols, DMF, etc. is achieved by sonication. The solubility of CNTs correlates well with the area ratio of the D and G bands from Raman spectrum. Thin films are formed from well dispersed CNT solutions using spray coating method. CNT thin films exhibit a sheet resistance ($R_s$) of nearby $10^3\;{\Omega}/sq$ with a transmittance of around 80% on the visible light range, which is attributed by excellent dispersion and interaction among CNTs, solvents and polymeric binders.

  • This paper reports the effect of adding reduced graphene oxide (RGO) as a conductive material to the composition of an electrode for capacitive deionization (CDI), a process to remove salt from water using ionic adsorption and desorption driven by external applied voltage. RGO can be synthesized in an inexpensive way by the reduction and exfoliation of GO, and removing the oxygen-containing groups and recovering a conjugated structure. GO powder can be obtained from the modification of Hummers method and reduced into RGO using a thermal method. The physical and electrochemical characteristics of RGO material were evaluated and its desalination performance was tested with a CDI unit cell with a potentiostat and conductivity meter, by varying the applied voltage and feed rate of the salt solution. The performance of RGO was compared to graphite as a conductive material in a CDI electrode. The result showed RGO can increase the capacitance, reduce the equivalent series resistance, and improve the electrosorption capacity of CDI electrode.

  • The variation electrical resistivity of Carbon black filled polymers with volume percent of carbon black was investigated. The relationships between the surface tension of polymer and dispertion effect of carbon black were studied to find the steep drop of electrical resistivity. The critical volume percent of carbon black increased with the increasing surface tension of polymer. The PTC intensity decreased with the increasing volume percent of carbon black.

  • We studied about the manufacture of the drain-source contacts for OTFTs(organic thin-film transistors) by using screen printing method. The conductive fillers used Ag and carbon black. The conductive contacts with $100{\mu}m$ of channel length were screen printed on a silicon dioxide gate dielectric layer and, the pentacene semiconductor was deposited via vacuum deposition. As a result of studying various conductive pastes, we could obtain the OTFTs which exhibited field-effect behavior over arrange of drain-source and gate voltages, similar to devices employing deposited Au contacts. By using screen-printing with conductive paste, the contacts are processed at low temperature, thereby facilitating their integration with heat sensitive substrates.

  • The effect of a conductive agent on the structural and electrochemical properties of $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$(LTO) spinel was investigated through neutron diffraction during Li intercalation and electrochemical measurements. The charging process of LTO is known as transformation of the white $(Li_3)_{8a}[LiTi_5]_{16d}O_{12}$ into a dark-colored $(Li_{3-X})_{8a}[Li_{X+Y}]_{16c}[LiTi_5]_{16d}O_{12}$ by incorporating the inserted Li into octahedral 16c sites, and the Li in tetrahedral 8a sites shifted to 16c sites. The occupancy of the tetrahedral 8a site varied with the existence of carbon in the electrode. Without carbon, the lattice parameter and cell volume of LTO decreased more notably than in the carbon-containing LTO electrode during Li insertion process. These phenomena might be attributed that the Li occupancy of the tetrahedral 8a of the LTO electrode without carbon was less than that of the carbon-containing LTO electrode.

  • The burden of housing heating costs has increased as energy prices such as global oil prices (28.1%), LNG (38%) and minerals (100%) have soared due to the Ukraine crisis. Accordingly, an electrically conductive cement composites had developed using waste carbon materials such as waste cathode materials, waste CNTs, and waste carbon fibers, and the heat generation performance was evaluated.
