Simulation of Refrigerator Characteristics (냉장고 특성 시뮬레이션)

  • A general steady-state model for simulation on domastic refrigerator has been developed. The system model consists of various standard components such as evaporator compressor condenser capillary tube and cabinet. Cabinet is not system component but influence characteristic on domastic refrigerator. The purpose of this paper is to compare between characteristics of HFC 134a with CFC 12 in the domastic refrigerator and to predict the steady state cycle performance which is various specifications of cycle components under the continuous running conditions. As the results of simulation the coefficient of performance of both condenser and evaporator increases with increasing UA the increasing rate for condenser is greater than for evaporator.

  • Mono-disperse particles generated by a condensation particle generator are widely used to meet the experimental and industrial needs. The characteristics of particles generated by homogeneous nucleation have been studied experimentally using a laminar flow condensation particle generator. Dry nitrogen gas saturated with oleic acid vapor was cooled well below the saturation temperature causing the highly supersaturated vapor to nucleate. The dependence of GSD(Geometric Standard Deviation), GMD(Geometric Mean Diameter), and the mass concentration of particles on the temperature at the evaporator, flow rate and the temperature condition at condenser was studied. The experimental results show that the mass concentration of particles is affected by the radial temperature profile at condenser. Nucleation at the center of the condenser causes the mass concentration of particles to increase. The experimental results also show that the suppression of additional nucleation by a constant temperature condition at the condenser increases the mean diameter of particle.

  • The objective of this study is to develope a computer simulation model and estimate theoretically the transient performance characteristics of heat exchangers in an automotive air-conditioning system. To do that, the mathematical modelling of heat exchangers, such as evaporator and condenser, is presented first of all. For detail calculation, evaporator and condenser are divided into many sub-sections. Each sub-section is an elemental volume for transient modelling. The elemental volume is assumed to consist of three components, refrigerant, tube with fin, and air, and various properties including temperatures of three components are determined step along sub-sections. The properties of refrigerant R134a and air are calculated directly in the program. The heat transfer coefficients and pressure drop in single or two phase are also calculated by suitable empirical correlations. The overall tendencies of the simulation results were agreed well with those of actual situation.

  • Condenser tube has been used as a component of heat exchanger in automobile and air conditioning apparatus. In this paper, porthole die extrusion that is advantageous to form long hollow section tube is analyzed by direct extrusion of condenser tube with 12 holes. A study on extrusion process is performed through the 3D FE simulation at non-steady state and extrusion experiments. Especially, weldability, extrusion load and die defects were estimated try FE-simulation. This study present the redesigned die of direct extrusion in consideration of the results obtained from FE-analysis.

  • The GC pictures were taken to investigate the difference of the Samul-tang and Sakunja-tang, each prepared by the different boiling methods, which were the traditional method(using cover), using the condenser, and using no cover. For Samul-tang, there was not much difference in the GC pictures, but the one pick(rt about 7 min.) of the picture by the method using the condenser had the higher intensity than those in the pictures by other methods. For Sakunja-tang, the GC pictures of the method using the condenser had shown a lot of the peaks and the very high intensity, which were much better than those of the picture by the traditional method. However, the GC pictures of the method by using no cover had shown almost nothing.

  • In this study, a simulation program has been developed to predict the performance of a parallel flow condenser of an air conditioning system for an automobile. The well-known correlations for he heat transfer rates and the pressure drops are included in this model. It is fond that the numerical model can predict the heat transfer rate and the pressure drop accurately. As the condensing pressure increases of fixed air inlet temperature, the heat transfer rate increases and the pressure drop decreases. The effect of he degree of subcooling on the performance of the condenser is greater than that of the degree of super-heating because the ratio of the area occupied by he tow-phase refrigerant the total area is significantly affected by he degree of subcooling rather than the degree of superheating.

  • In this study, the heat source distributions at the end side and the center of the electrode are analyzed to estimate the electrical stress due to the harmonics from the nonlinear loads. The governing equation at the analysis area of low voltage condenser are numerically solved using the finite element software package to analyze the effects of heat source distribution due to the 5th and 7th harmonics, which can exist normally in the distribution network and can be applied to the low voltage condenser. Finally, the heat source distribution from the harmonics is compared and analyzed with the heat source distribution from the fundamental component of the applied voltage.

Evaluation of Performance of a Residential Air-Conditioning System Using Microchannel and Fin-and-Tube Heat Exchanger (마이크로채널과 핀 튜브 열교환기를 적용한 가정용 에어컨디셔너의 성능 평가)

  • In this study the seasonal performance of a residential air conditioning system having either a fin-and-tube condenser or a microchannel condenser is experimentally investigated. A commercially available 7 kW capacity residential air conditioning system having a fin-and-tube condenser served as the base system. The test results show that the system with a microchannel heat exchanger has a reduced refrigerant charge amount of 10%, the coefficient of performance is increased by 6% to 10%, and the SEER is increased by 7% as compared with those of the base system. Moreover, the condensing pressure of the system is decreased by 100 kPa and the pressure drop across the condenser is decreased by 84%. The microchannel heat exchanger enhances the SEER of the residential air conditioning system by providing better heat transfers at reduced pressure drops.

  • This paper describes the research in condenser cone of sealing-end for 154kV oil-filled underground cable. We conducted the design based on the results of electric field analysis by electrostatics theory and FEM. In case that condenser cone type EB-A was compared with bell mouth type EB-A, the results of the AC and lightening impulse voltage test showed improvment of 10 percents.

Analysis of the Gravity Effect on the Distribution of Refrigerant Flow in a Multi-circuit Condenser (다분지 응축기의 냉매유량 분배에 미치는 중력의 영향을 고려한 해석방법)

  • The method to consider gravity effect on the performance of a condenser is developed, and a simple condenser having 'nU' type two circuits is analyzed. Each circuit has the same length and inlet air-side operational conditions. The only difference between two circuits is the direction of refrigerant flow, which is exactly opposite each other between the upper 'n' type circuit and the lower 'U' type circuit. It is shown that the gravity makes the distribution of refrigerant flow uneven in the two circuits at lower refrigerant flow rates; heat transfer rate also becomes uneven. Moreover, much of the refrigerant exists as liquid state in the circuit having low refrigerant flow rate, which will make the cycle balance unstable in the refrigeration cycle system like a heat pump.
